  1. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 07:27 AM) This was the first bad series the team has played, basically, since the first week of June. That's two months, and that's pretty amazing. This was bound to happen eventually, and it happened on the road, against an underachieving team who just got a new manager. Losing 3 of 4 is nothing to panic about, at all. The only really scary thing is the offensive woes, and the fact that the Sox are still without a major league DH. Not sure there is any way to address that at this point, but perhaps getting Teahen back might help a bit, if he plays over Kotsay. What worries me about the offensive woes is that Quentin has basically been worthless away from the Cell. His home splits are: .271/.387/.590 which is outstanding. On the road, he has hit .188/.267/.376, which basically makes him worse than Mark Kotsay. The Sox still have 22 games on the road, so he is gonna have to figure that out, if they are gonna start winning away from the South Side. Not to mention, they won't have home field if they make the playoffs, which could almost neutralize CQ if he keeps those numbers up.
  2. Taco Burrito King has always been a go-to spot for me, and it looks like they are starting to expand with locations on the South Side & suburbs. A location in Alsip & another one coming soon to 56th & Harlem, not sure how close that all is to you.
  3. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 04:12 PM) Anyone know when Blackhawks tickets go on sale. The Blackhawks webiste is doing me no good. All I could find is that last season they went on sale Mon. August 17, but the press release just came out on the 11th. That's probably not much help, but I'd guess the info should come out anyday now.
  4. QUOTE (klaus kinski @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 09:44 PM) We rely on a 43 year old too much- Meh. He's hitting .293, has done a great job as a #2 hitter, and still plays solid defense. Not to mention, I'm sure he's been a great mentor to the SS of the future. Vizquel has turned out to be one of the least of our worries. He only started playing everyday when Teahen got hurt anyway.
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 12:19 AM) 4-4 isn't a bad road trip at all, but we definitely played lousy in Baltimore. I don't know if "fired up" is the right word, but our guys should have been extra aggressive realizing the O's would be playing much better under a new manager which usually inspires teams for a week or so before they return to s***tiness. Should be interesting to see if we play well at home vs. the Twins. I'm sure it'll be built up as another "statement" series between the two teams. Unless one team sweeps, it won't mean much in the big scheme of things. I'm afraid Thome is due to beat us in at least one of the games like former Sox seem to do when they play us. After they beat our ass 3 of 4 recently, it would be very nice to win 2 of 3 this week. Losing all 3 might start a rapid downward spiral. Winning all three would be incredible and might start the Twins on a downward spiral since they've done a nice job of catching us after blowing that 9.5 game lead against us earlier. I'm not buying the whole "Orioles played better under their new manager" theory. Its not like they hit the ball well or made web gems all over the field. The Sox couldn't hit their god awful pitching and lost 3 one-run games because of it. Did Buck Showalter pump up Bergesen, Millwood, & Matusz so much that they stopped sucking at pitching? I doubt it. The Sox went through an awful cold hitting stretch and it cost them a 4-game series against a bad team. Hopefully they can turn it around with 1st place on the line, heading back to the friendly confines of the Cell should help them out some.
  6. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 12:41 PM) Reds get Jim Edmonds for Chris Dickerson. Good trade for both sides I guess. Another old, grindy veteran for Dusty Baker, he couldn't be happier
  7. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 12:32 PM) It would be funny if that happened, but really there's no reason to lose tonight. We should dominate Matusz tonight. There really was no reason to lose to Brad Bergesen, he of the 6.63 ERA, on Friday night either.
  8. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 02:20 AM) Draw Backs: 1. One less man in the pen. Essentially the Linebrink role, if the Sox would cut him. 2. The better performances could drive up prices for guys like Danks and EJax. You are throwing a rookie into the rotation who will probably have several short outings, so that extra person in the bullpen would be even more necessary.
  9. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 10:17 AM) And could I have used the word 'game' any more in my question? and you even rhymed the last word with 'game', nice touch.
  10. Come on offense, please stop getting owned by the worst pitching staff in the AL.
  11. I didn't see it discussed anywhere, but how about the Rays almost getting no-hit again?? Although they are 3rd in MLB in runs scored, they are only tied for 25th with a .250 team BA. I still can't believe the Mariners traded away Morrow for a reliever. He was a high 1st round draft pick, always showed flashes of his potential, but they kept dicking him around between the rotation, the minors, and the bullpen. They really didn't give him the best opportunity to succeed, now hes 5th in the AL in strikeouts.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 08:07 AM) So, is Tiger Woods finished? What's funny is that it seems people are still giving him the benefit of the doubt despite how awful he has been playing. Most gambling websites have him as the favorite or 2nd just behind Phil to win the PGA champ.
  13. QUOTE (jhonnydanks @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 07:35 AM) jhonny don't stop get it get it
  14. It all started last season on Saturday (July or August) vs. Detroit when the Sox were still in the race, despite losing a doubleheader the day before. Jenks had Granderson 0-2 with 2 outs, and he threw him a weak fastball just above the belt on the inside corner, instead of dropping the nasty curve out of the zone. 2009 ended that day and for the most part Jenks has sucked as well.
  15. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 10:13 AM) Except Ozzie loves the lefty-lefty matchups, so I'd expect Sale to get a decent amount of use if he proves effective from the get go. I agree. If Thornton is unavailable one day and a tough lefty matchup comes up late in the game, I can definitely see Ozzie going for it.
  16. Damnit. Minnesota could have easily gotten swept vs. Tampa and ended up splitting.
  17. 6-2 Twins. Matt Joyce stepping to the plate as the tying run, bases loaded
  18. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 12:11 PM) Rios' hands are moved back up. Yeah, he hasn't looked the same recently, although he has still been rocking the RBI singles when Pierre has been on base.
  19. Jason Repko??? Really?? The guy's been killing me with his hitting the last few weeks.
  20. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 11:13 AM) Minny and Tampa Bay live on MLB Network right now. back-to-back 1-out doubles, 1-0 bad guys. Come on Wade
