  1. At least he's not the DH today, but is actually playing 1B, so Konerko can get some rest, but keep his bat in the lineup.
  2. That was the bottom of the ninth, bases loaded, down 2. His inability to get a hit directly affected the loss. If he knocks in Quentin, its a 4-run lead, maybe we have a big inning, or at the least a different reliever comes in and doesn't blow it. All Kotsay's fault. We couldn't score any runs for 10 innings, and the guy who is designated to hit the ball couldnt get a hit. If he did, maybe we score earlier and the game ends up differently. Kotsay's fault again. Those two weren't his fault, but that's 3 games that can be blamed directly on Mark Kotsay's inability to hit a baseball.
  3. QUOTE (daa84 @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 09:06 PM) picked this up from motownsports.com ....who knows if its true...."Dickerson on radio with the claim the Dunn has cleared waivers...." No f***ing way. He's a FA after the year, so its not like his salary could handicap a team like Rios could have. Too many teams could use him that I have a hard time believing he would just go unclaimed.
  4. No. Just like he didn't deserve the blame when they weren't hitting. Hitting coaches are for the most part worthless and have little to do with a team's success.
  5. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 07:05 AM) I think we should worry more (if any) about the currently hot Orioles team as a whole, Bob looks fine. I don't know if I'd call them hot. They have won two in a row against an Angels team that hasn't exactly been playing their best baseball. Before this series, the Orioles had lost 14 of their previous 17. I'm just saying that for some reason Bobby has always struggled against the Orioles, just something to watch out for.
  6. Looking ahead to this weekend, gotta be a bit worried about the 9th inning. Sox need to score a lot of runs vs. the awful Oriole rotation to avoid close games. Jenks career vs. BAL: 8 for 13 in save opps, 7.98 ERA, 2.18 WHIP, .379 BAA
  7. QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 05:51 PM) American League Team Claims Papelbon I think the Red Sox would be more than willing to deal Papelbon. Daniel Bard has been pretty dominant this year and is under their control and much cheaper for the next 5 or 6 years. Papelbon is due another big arbitration number next year, then becomes a FA.
  8. Kotsay had an OPS of .384 in April and .504 in July. Freddy Garcia has a career OPS of .434. Just sayin.
  9. In the Dan Hudson episode, I really enjoyed the argument between Ozzie and Coop about taking Hudson out in the 5th vs. KC. Coop tries to convince him to let Hudson finish the 5th to get the win, but Ozzie says no way and pulls him, much to Coop's chagrin.
  10. 40-year old Mariano Rivera has a 0.91 ERA, 0.63 WHIP, .144 BAA so far this season. All would be career lows.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 02:35 PM) I think the last game threat that southsidedon started was when James Baldwin was on the mound. He likes his pitchers just as he likes his women
  12. This season there have been 9 doubleheaders, 3 of them were sweeps (33%).
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 12:26 PM) It could also be that teams tend to win the game where they throw their better pitcher out against the other team's worse pitcher. I think this could be the biggest reason. Two baseball teams are rarely actually evenly matched during any given game. How good the starting pitcher is has a huge effect on the outcome. Maybe the pitching matchups are usually split where team has a better SP in game 1, and the other team does in game 2?
  14. A-Rod finally hits #600 off of Shawn Marcum, only 13 days after #599.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 09:28 AM) But there are tens of thousands of Cub fans there... How is that better? I was there in the bleachers Monday night, now that was an enjoyable experience.
  16. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 09:33 AM) So what are some of his worst stretches so far this season? Longest 0-fer or maybe some 1-25s? Basically, would Mike Caruso's bat be an upgrade? Maybe we should compile a detailed chart of suckiness just in case KW passes through these here boards. April 14-April 30, 1 for 23 May 27-June 5, 1 for 20 July 18-July 21, 0 for 15
  17. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 04:53 AM) Might as well change the title to Polish Jokes thread. Seriously. We may be Polish and dumb, but that doesn't mean we don't have any feelings guys.
  18. The Tigers have 3 guys in their lineup with a lower BA than Kotsay.
  19. 60 pitches through 5 for MB, just what you need during a double header
