The more I think about the White Sox paying Edwin Jackson $8.3 million next season, the more I begin to dry heave

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 10:26 AM) Grienke may be traded if they want to sell high on him still as there is risk that he is starting to lose it again. Maybe, but I was talking about King Felix
-
Keith Law is finally right about something: keithlaw: I've never been a big Dan Hudson guy, but I'd rather have him at $400K than Edwin Jackson at $toomuch

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 10:22 AM) You would think Roberto Clemente's or Shoeless Joe Jackson's ghosts were going to be playing tonight with all this hysteria. Hmmmm...I'm voting for Z. Greinke or Felix Hernandez. They just signed him to a big contract extension in the offseason, that aint gonna happen.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 09:55 AM) can someone tell me what Cowley said? cst_sox Clear up an earlier tweet - I talked to J. Dye, the Sox haven't. Dye said he's ready, but Sox have somehow lost his number.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 08:36 AM) It translates to "Edwin Jackson is better than his current ERA". Gotcha. If we do trade for him then thats a good sign, but I still would not be a very big fan of the move.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 08:25 AM) Edwin Jackson's FIP: 4.27 Edwin Jackson's xFIP: 4.27 Edwin Jackson's projected RoS FIP: 4.16 Edwin Jackson's projected RoS ERA: 3.97 I'll take it. Although I'd much rather give up Santos. If Hudson is in the deal, we better be getting LaRoche too. I'm not really sure what those stats mean, but I hope they translate to: "Edwin Jackson sucks". Cause thats the truth.

QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 08:14 AM) For the people that said Edwin Jackson wouldn't help us this season.....can I have what your smoking because he's clearly is an upgrade over Garcia and Hudson (at this time). This team is in a win now mode, and this is a win now move. You can't have you cake and eat it too when it comes to keeping all your top prospects and fielding a contending team. Please explain to me how Edwin Jackson is clearly an upgrade over Garcia or Hudson at this time.

2010-2011 NHL thread

The Hawks lost money in 2009-2010. -
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 07:57 AM) Many of us had similar sentiments when we acquired Contreras, Floyd and Thornton. None of those guys were acquired in the middle of a pennant race, nor were any of them owed $8 million the following season.

Exchanging Daniel Hudson for Edwin Jackson as our 5th starter does not make this team any better in 2010, not to mention it costs the team money. If the deal does go down, I hope its to move EJax for a bat.

QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 02:22 AM) hey hey hey the hood on the northside is just as bad bro. dont want to mess with humboldt park and logan square i tell ya. i mean just to keep it fair and not make it seem like the southside is the cause of all our city's troubles North Side representin'. Redeye's homicide tracker, check how bad you neighborhood really is.

Trading Hudson for Edwin Jackson is an awful idea. Hudson can put up the same s***ty numbers EJax would and for about $6-7 million cheaper. No thanks.

QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 10:09 PM) Jersey Shore premier was on tonight. Looked pretty decent. Don't know if they will top the first season, but it looks promising. Best Part: Snooki says: "I have to spray tan now cause Obama raised taxes on spray tanning. I voted for McCain cause he wouldnt do that, he is pale. Obama doesn't need the tanning"

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 10:01 PM) This is a massive overpay by the Twins. You don't give up this kind of package for relief pitching. I agree, especially for Matt f***ing Capps. Their 7-8-9 RH relievers went from Crain-Guerrier-Rauch to Guerrier-Rauch-Capps. Is that worth your 4th best prospect and only backup behind Mauer???
-
QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 09:48 PM) Really? He's 27 and a physical beast. Unless he starts to get really banged up I don't see any reason to expect him to move from behind the plate within the next 5 or 6 years. The guy is such a good hitter, I always thought he should be moved to save the bat, but now without Ramos I guess I am wrong. He has only missed 2 months in the past 4 years. We will see. Either way, Jon Heyman says that Matt Capps will be the closer, Rauch will pitch the 8th

Ramon motherf***ing Castro!!!!!!!

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 09:33 PM) If anything, Mauer will play 3B or the OF. He's too athletic for 1B. Plus, Morneau's there until 2014. That could be very true, but either way, I can see Mauer leaving the catcher position soon, and the Twins just traded their best replacement for a B+ reliever who might get a high arbitration number next year.
-
I like it. Matt Capps is solid, but I'm definitely not scared of him. Twins give up a top catching prospect that they will need when Mauer becomes a 1B/DH. It doesnt affect 2010 that much and really hurts the Twins in the future. Two thumbs up.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 02:32 PM) Is there psychological or sociological reason that heat tends to cause crime to increase? I think it just has to do with more people hanging out in the streets when its warm out, which leads to more skirmishes, violence, etc. Very few of the shootings are indoors or in peoples homes.
