QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 05:14 PM) Hawks to sign D Prospect Nick Leddy Great news. Hawks also signed Hugh Jessiman. 26 year old d-man, was the 12th overall pick in 2003. Ranked #1 prospect in the organization?? Nice. Good to see the Cam Barker trade could provide more than just salary cap relief and a concussed Swede. -

QUOTE (balfanman @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 03:09 PM) I thought that Visquel had several pretty good offensive years with Cleveland. I know that he won't get into the Hall on his offensive prowess alone, but I thought that he was above average. I know OPS is not the top stat to judge hitters by, but Vizquel has only had two seasons of an OPS+ above 100 (110 in '99 & 104 in '02), which would make him barely average at best. Then again, Ozzie Smith only had 4 such seasons. Edit: 1999 was the only year Vizquel hit over .300 (.333) & 2002 was the only time he hit double digit homers (14).

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 03:03 PM) Yeah, but my point is they can't send him back if he's here. It's his choice if he wants to return to Korea. He's revered and loved in S. Korea, I think he's gonna go back if they tell him too. Otherwise, he can never go back (probably has family there), he can never play for a S. Korea national team again., I don't doubt think he would give that up for 1 or 2 years in the majors, even if he is in his prime.

QUOTE (IceCreamPants @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 02:30 PM) Ambassador= FIAL Its just a made up title from what I seen. Its laughable....just saying. The Blackhawks have been doing that for a while now. I think it just gives the old-timers another reason to come around to games more often. Fire Dennis Savard as head coach, but make him an "ambassador" immediately after.

No surprise there, great to see it happening so soon. My favorite player and best White Sox hitter of all-time. Think I'm gonna have to scoop up some tickets for August 29. #35

QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 01:40 PM) Call me crazy, but I'd much rather go after Luke Scott than Dunn. Not saying Dunn isn't the better player, but I think Scott would be the better option for us. He would not cost us nearly as much as Dunn in regards to cash and prospects. The problem with Luke Scott is that he is so damn streaky. He is on a hot streak right now, so he could be outstanding for the next 2-3 weeks, but after that he won't be much of an addition to the club.

Anybody check it out last night?

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 10:16 AM) it is really crazy that Wakamatsu is batting Lopez cleanup with his .236/.268/.334 line. at this point you might as well say f*** it and put Ichiro there and give him as many opportunities possible to drive in runs Or how about your 23-year old left fielder who might be important to the future of your club?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 09:18 AM) You haven't looked at the bottom of the NL Central recently have you? I don't know. IMO, McCutchen, Alvarez, Jones > Ichiro, Guitierrez, Figgins, Lopez. Especially this season. It doesn't do much good to have a leadoff hitter like Ichiro when no one else can knock him in.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 09:44 PM) Twins starting to click against all of the scrubs they've been playing. Thanks Zack Greinke for giving the Royals a chance to at least win one game this series. Sox really need to dominate this home stand, Twins have Seattle coming to town this weekend.

I'm pretty sure I've heard him say he is retiring after this season, but I guess he could always change his mind.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 05:53 PM) Apparently, the AA pitcher that was going to be called up, Brad Mills, is getting the call up because the Blue Jays have a double header on Wednesday. Really? I don't see it on the schedule anywhere. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 06:01 PM) No wonder he gave up a game-tying home run to Mark Teahen. I think he then forgot about his roots on Sunday when he gave up doubles to MCab and Raburn to give Detroit that victory.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 05:49 PM) Like with Mackowiak and Wise, Ozzie has put Kotsay in a position to fail. Exactly. I have no problem with Kotsay on the roster. I think he can be a solid pinch-hitter and backup 1B behind Paulie. The way Ozzie throws him in the lineup everyday is awful and just makes him look that much worse and become more and more disliked by the day.

What's Marcum's salary situation? I found that he signed for $850k at the start of the year to avoid arbitration. Is he still under team control for a few more years. If so, why would they trade him? Also, how effective will he be the rest of the season? He missed 2009 with Tommy John surgery and is already at 118 IP. I would think that he would wear down a little bit as this season goes on.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 04:14 PM) He'd be an upgrade over Davis. Mark Kotsay would be an upgrade over Davis. Smoak wasn't hitting all that much better when he was there either.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 04:13 PM) That too. But it just confuses me how you can think the combination of Jones/Kotsay can somehow outproduce Thome. Its not about production, its about versatility
