  1. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 04:02 PM) 1. Putz is a 7th inning guy who has been lights out. But to keep a middle reliever instead of getting an everday player does not make any sense. There are others in the organization that can handle that role, not to the extent that Putz has, but odds are that he will come back to earth sooner than later. In 2006 & 2007, Putz put up similar, if not better, numbers than this year, then he got injured. Odds are that he can be this good, and there is no reason why he should be expected to pitch any worse the next two months.
  2. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 03:58 PM) Last time we played Seattle, Kotsay went 0-11. So let's hope he can improve on that. But he did have the game-winning RBI groundout in the 2nd game....
  3. 1st game thread of the year, might as well start a winning streak dont stop
  4. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 03:04 PM) Jermaine Dye really had nothing to do with it, Fukudome said "Nope, I would rather play for the Cubs" I remember the report was that he only wanted to play RF and be the first Japanese player on the team, so he went to the Cubs even though the Sox offered more money. I could be wrong though.
  5. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 02:51 PM) Would you trade for him if the Cubs would pay $7 million of his contract next year and $2 million of it this year? I know I would definitely consider it. $6.5 million next year for him? No thank you. He keeps getting worse and worse and is now a 4th OF for the Cubs. Thank god we had Jermaine Dye in RF & Takatsu has already played for us, or the Sox would be stuck with that awful contract.
  6. Ken_Rosenthal Source: #Diamondbacks will not hesitate to trade EJax if they get what they want. No 3-way talks with #Nationals and #WhiteSox - yet 3-way w Dunn going to #WhiteSox a little difficult to imagine; White Sox don't have much to give.
  7. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 10:39 PM) Then why did they turn away from an agreed deal with the Yankees? I remember hearing that the M's had an issue with the health of one of the prospects and the Yankees wouldn't switch him out for another guy.
  8. There was talk on Sunday Night Baseball that the Angels traded for Haren so they could now move him to another team in exchange for a bat. Since Haren is signed til 2012, I don't think thats the case, but just throwing it out there.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 10:36 PM) FELIPE! Gotta love the bat flip and pose after he hit it. If I were on the Cubs, I bean his ass next time they face STL
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 10:07 PM) Seriously, how f***ing stupid can the Cardinals play? Holliday was tagging instead of scoring easily on a single with one out. Yadier Molina is freaking terrible with the bat this season, as well. Can't believe he was voted to start the ASG. There have been some dumb plays, but either way this has actually been a very entertaining game to watch, lots of action in each inning. On to the 11th.
  11. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 06:18 PM) What was the last game that we had no chance to win at the end of the game? I had to look it up. June 8 vs. DET, lost 7-2 after Thornton gets blown up in the 7th. The next day started our 15 of 16 run
  12. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 06:05 PM) This is the Colvin fiasco on the South Side. Does Steve Stone need to call out Ozzie for not starting Dayan?? It worked with Lou
  13. LOL at DeWayne Wise leading off for the Jays. Good for him, hope he does well, especially in the 3 games this weekend
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 06:04 PM) I assumed you meant Jenks. Well played, didn't think about him. Hopefully he doesn't drop Linebrink to 3rd on the list.
  15. This announcer is awful. "The Sox got JJ Putz and really didn't have to give up anything for him." He was a FA and they gave him $3 million dollars! What else were they supposed to give him?
  16. I'd like to see Cust in a home run derby....it shouldn't always have to be players on the All-Star team
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 06:00 PM) Zambrano? Yeah, thats who I was referring too, although I guess he isn't on the roster now
  18. A Scott Linebrink sighting!!!! At least he's only the 2nd most expensive mop-up reliever in Chicago
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 05:47 PM) Lineup tomorrow predictions: Pierre, Ramirez, Rios, Konerko, Quentin, Jones, AJP, Viciedo, Beckham That should be our everyday lineup right now, with CQ DH, Andruw in right
  20. Can I just add how wonderful it is to watch a 2nd lefty in the bullpen get people out and not just walk every other batter??
  21. The Gold Glove should have died to everyone in 1999 when Palmiero won it by playing 28 games at 1B and 128 games at DH.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 05:38 PM) Cowley tweets that Ozzie said other teams are asking for way too much in trades. I wonder who we could acquire for Marquez, Betemit, and Nunez? Carl Everett & Roberto Alomar?
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 03:00 PM) It's really an embarrassment to see how big of a zone he gets. Glavine/Maddux in their primes didn't get a bigger zone. If Cardinals don't win tomorrow, I'm not so sure Cubs go into sell mode. It's really amazing how lucky they're going to get in the first month or so after the ASB with regards to pitching match-ups, as they miss Oswalt again next week and then no Jimenez in Colorado. Are you sure that's a good thing? For the most part, the dude's been pretty bad for the last month.
