  1. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 05:30 PM) Watching this game, considering the score, would have sucked no matter what having to listen to Mark Grace just makes it that much worse Seriously, even when was it was still 0-0, I was thinking about how f***ing awful this announcing crew is. The play-by-play guy's voice doesn't change whether its ball 1 or an RBI single.
  2. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 04:07 PM) Anyone who likes Tyrus Thomas. Michael Jeffrey Jordan?
  3. Major control problems vs. the Phillies today: 2 IP, 3 H, 6 BB, 6 ER ERA is up to 2.75. Since this thread was started his ERA is 7.36 in his last 6 starts
  4. Pujols now 0 for his last 11. I'm thinking the sleeping giant wakes up in primetime tommorrow night....be afraid Dempster, be very afraid
  5. Billy Beane at it again, that $10 million FA contract was a steal
  6. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 11:57 AM) how much trade value could be lost in the next 7 days by having him DH rather than sit on the bench? It can't be about trade value, the kid is 21 years old. A few bad weeks in the majors won't drastically change opinions about his potential.
  7. because Mark Kotsay >>>>>> everybody else
  8. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 07:09 AM) Bickell resigns with the Hawks...3 year, one way deal, $500k, $525k & $600k. Bickell is solid, but most importantly they filled a roster spot with a salary as low as $500k
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 10:57 AM) If we win this game, we're 5-5 on this road trip. Not much faith in Hudson on Sunday?
  10. First thought after watching Episode 1: Ken Williams & Phil Ivey : separated at birth
  11. This ballgame is OVA!!!! Mark f***ing Buehrle!!!!
  12. Home stats: 4-4, 68 IP, 56 K, 6 HR, 2.91 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, .231 BAA Road stats: 0-5, 51.1 IP, 28 K, 12 HR, 6.66 ERA, 1.68 WHIP, .310 BAA I hope these stats close this thread
  13. Quentin did look pretty good on Cust's RBI double though
  14. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 23, 2010 -> 10:02 PM) I wonder if the brewers would do Fielder and Alcides Escobar for Beckham, Hudson, and Viceido I don't think either team would do that. The Brewers have the bats, but are lacking in pitching and getting only Hudson doesn't help them very much. Fielder may help the DH spot, but it would hurt the Sox at the 5th starter spot and 2B. No thanks.
  15. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 23, 2010 -> 04:47 PM) that doesn't mean they nailed free agency though. Yeah, Miami is the only team that made itself a title contender, but there were no players available to the Bulls that would have made them a title contender, so they "nailed" it as best they could with the players they could get.
  16. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 23, 2010 -> 04:26 PM) Alfredo Simon has been pretty decent. Yeah, he has kinda taken over the role recently but they were a mess for a while when Gonzalez first got hurt. A closer by committe rarely has pitchers has good as the Sox have, so I think it can work though.
  17. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 23, 2010 -> 01:55 PM) UZR and Plus/Minus, 05 Rowand owns Rios in both of those categories. Seriously, people used to love Rowand when he was here. But oh, now that he's gone, I don't know, those diving catches sure seemed overrated... Stats be damned, Rios is a better CF than any season of Rowand. Just watching the games shows that. I doubt Rios will misjudge fly balls over his head in the 9th inning vs. our top division rival like 05 Rowand did.
  18. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 23, 2010 -> 03:59 PM) i think this is a good team but nailing this offseason probably would be applied to not losing out on the biggest 3 free agents of the last 10 years and having them all go to a single other team that will beat the s*** out of everyone, including your team, for the foreseeable future. Yeah, but the Bulls never had a chance to grab any of those 3 free agents. These 3 guys were set to go to Miami way before free agency started and there was nothing the Bulls could have done to convince them differently.
  19. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Jul 23, 2010 -> 01:06 PM) So stoked for closer-by-committee! I'm pretty convinced that the only (or, main) reason CBC has failed in the past is because teams only try it when they have exclusively horrible bullpen options. Our bullpen options are great, and I think this is destined to succeed with flying colors. I agree, I see no problem with using Putz & Thornton or even Jenks depending on the situation. The most recent CBC this year was the Orioles, and that failed cause their best reliever was Will f***ing Ohman. It can work with good relievers.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 23, 2010 -> 01:37 PM) Why can't the White Sox ever get to face Jeff Suppan? This Cardinals team better trade for another starting pitcher. The Sox did face Suppan just over a year ago, and he got the victory actually. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/MI...200906120.shtml
