I was in Europe during late July 2005. I made sure to get around an internet cafe on August 1st to check what KW did. Then I saw it....GEOFF BLUM!!!!! I was definitely disappointed as I didn't see the 14th inning WS homer in the future.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 21, 2010 -> 02:31 PM) Take it FWIW, but the Yahoo NHL blogger (who is in a bad mood today because he's a Devils fan) seems to think it's possible the Hawks and Panthers come to a deal on Campbell eventually as he "heard it from a Chicago source". I refuse to believe it until I see it, cause Campbell's is a nasty contract. Either way, it would be nice to get it done before Niemi's arb hearing on the 29th. -
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 21, 2010 -> 01:44 PM) One of my friends on their Facebook wrote how good the Cubs game was. Someone replied "The socks are better." I want to hit them.
-
Houston pulls one out 4-3 in 12 innings. That 6-15 record vs. the bottom two teams in the NL Central really must be grinding Cubs fans gears.
-
Looking at the Cubs schedule, they are lucky to only have 3 more games vs. the Pirates left. Anymore and their playoff chances would be zero, lol. Reverse that 3-9 record vs. the Bucs, and the Cubs would only be 4.5 games back and in prime position to strike.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 21, 2010 -> 03:54 AM) I always thought that you had to cross the foul line in order for it to count as a trip to the mound. Seems awful shaky to me. From a Yahoo story, Rule 8.06 of the Official Baseball Rules stipulates a trip to the mound begins when a manager or coach crosses the foul line and ends when he leaves the 18-foot dirt circle surrounding the pitcher’s rubber. Returning to the dirt constitutes a second trip, at which point the pitcher must be removed. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 21, 2010 -> 08:36 AM) Why was Mattingly (the hitting coach) talking to Broxton on the mound? Torre had been ejected earlier. Why pitching coach Rick Honeycutt didn't come out to talk to a pitcher??? I don't know.

Have the White Sox ever had a better defense?
LittleHurt05 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think I have a hard time saying best defense EVER when your bench coach who has no knees left can score from 3rd on a short fly ball to left field. -

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 20, 2010 -> 09:03 PM) Lincecum vs Kershaw in a few minutes. Just busted 11 nuts. I'm going to be doing quite a bit of channel flipping between this and the Sox. WTF is wrong with Lincecum?? April: 1.27 ERA, 0.82 WHIP May: 4.95 ERA, 1.54 WHIP June: 3.09 ERA, 1.41 WHIP July: 3.38 ERA, 1.35 WHIP I know those are great numbers for most pitchers, but not for him.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 20, 2010 -> 10:58 PM) They got caught with their pants down with the Hossa deal, they weren't going to let it happen again. Yeah, although Kovalchuk's contract is much worse. When he turns 38 in year 12 of his contract, he will "make" $750k for one season, then $550k for the next 5 seasons. When Hossa turns 38, he will "make" $1 mil for two seasons, then $750k for the next 2 seasons. I'm not saying Hossa's contract isn't BS at the end, but the Devils definitely stretched the boundaries with the Ilya deal. -
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 20, 2010 -> 06:41 PM) Dave Bush is absolutely terrible. For as often as he seems to give up like 6 or 7+ runs in a game, its amazing that his career ERA is only 4.63 (before today) and 4 of his previous 6 seasons have had ERAs of under 4.50

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 20, 2010 -> 06:01 PM) It certainly sounded like Hendry will be back next year in that press conference, Ricketts didn't leave much wiggle room in his comments. You're right about Brenly being a potential candidate, Reedfan, but I think he might be a little bit behind in that race. Buster Olney seems to think it's possible Joe Torre will be the Cubs manager next year. I guess that makes sense in that Torre won't be back in LA next year, but would the Cubs really want to hire a guy in his 70's as manager after the Lou experience? The thing is Hendry was sitting right next to him, he couldnt just say I don't know if I will keep him around next year. He had to say what he did, but many people have said that before and changed their mind when it came down to it. With all the bad money on the roster right now, I see no way Hendry comes back.

Does Kenny dare to consider making this trade?
LittleHurt05 replied to hawksox13's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I still don't understand why the Tigers, whose 3rd baseman has a broken hand and will be out 4-6 weeks, would trade for an inferior 3rd baseman who has a broken middle finger and won't be available to play for 2-3 weeks at the minimum? -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 20, 2010 -> 10:11 AM) 17 years is ridiculous, the length of contracts needs to be addresssed in the next CBA IMO. Although, to be fair, Ilya is signed until he's 44 and Hossa until he's 42, so the Devils aren't the only team taking advantage of the loophole. But even with the Hawks being one of the teams that benefitted from the loophole, I'd still like to see it gone. Anyways, I'm glad he stayed in the east and with New Jersey though. He takes up a lot of payroll resources, but the Kings are going to be enough of an issue as it is, let alone had they added a much needed offensive stud like Kovalchuk to their squad. The funniest part of the loophole is that if you sign a guy at 35 years old, his contract counts vs the cap for the duration, no matter if he gets injured, retires or whatever. But if you sign a 34-year old for 10 years, the contract stops counting as soon as he is done (Pronger got a similar deal at that age). -
Lou Piniella announces that he is retiring at the end of this season. Not a big surprise, and I think it keeps him from being fired for a younger manager any point this summer. His contract ends this year anyway.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 15, 2010 -> 08:08 PM) Jamie Moyer and wind blowing out is not a good combination at Wrigley 3 innings & Charlie Manuel had enough of that. 6 runs, 5 hits (4 of those for extra bases)

f***, I hate the Twins
-
So the Twins will decide before Friday's game whether or not to DL Morneau with the concussion, odds are he does and the infamous Matt Tolbert takes his place on the roster.
-
Wow Omar, you almost pulled a Russell Martin. Sac flies are so damn boring, but I'll take 3 of them. 4-0 good guys
-
Omar single, Juan 1st to 3rd, again, wow, they are making it look so easy its unbelievable

Leadoff hitter is 2 for 2, that makes it easy
