  1. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 10:00 AM) Here's another hypothetical. The starter pitches 4 and 2/3 innings and his team is leading. They pull him because he's at 120 pitches already or whatever reason. There are 4 relievers that come in and each pitch 1 inning except one guy who pitches 1 and 1/3 inning, without ever losing the lead. Why shouldn't the starter get the win? Because he barely made it through half the game. If he was at 120 pitches in the 5th, he was obviously laboring and pitching pretty awfully. If a starter can't make it thru 5 innings, then I agree he doesn't deserve the win. Either way, wins are overrated for both starters & relievers. Tyler Clippard had six wins by May 9th, but also recorded a blown save in four of those games.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 11:25 PM) Cardinals just blew a 6 run lead in the 9th against the Rockies. As much as LaRussa loves to mix and match relievers during the late innings, he sure as hell kept Franklin in there way too long. Dude was getting drilled.
  3. Just got an e-mail from the Sox: "KONERKO and CARGO: Vote Sox and Vote Rox!" Sorry, Brooks & Co. Gonzalez is a great player, but there is absolutely no way I can vote for someone other than Votto.
  4. Make me feel a little better about not getting Bosh: sportsguy33 Chris Bosh: 7 seasons, 1 2nd-team All-NBA, 0 All-D's, 5 lotteries. Career: 211-320. Playoffs: 3-8. No more calling him a "superstar" please.
  5. Just had Cubs fans friends texting me if I'd trade Peavy for Z straight up right now after seeing JFP's arm possibly fall off. I still said f*** no.
  6. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 09:32 PM) I honestly think we still need a bat more even if Peavy is out for a while. Our pitching is that good and our hitting is that bad. Our best trading chip is gonna have to take Peavy's rotation spot, so that could hurt our odds to get a bat.
  7. Just got home from softball to see that. f***!!! Peavy wouldn't just leave the game that quick if he didn't know something was f***ed. Hope its something he can come back from this season. Dan Hudson, your table is ready.
  8. So much for 3' of stoppage time, that went to 5. Added some extra intrigue to the game. Back-to-Back all-Euro finals, oh joy!
  9. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 02:14 PM) He's definitely a diva, attention whore, and kind of a twat... but I will happily hold my nose if he comes to Chicago. Absolutely. As long as he's in a Bulls jersey, he can have as much attitude or drama off the court as he wants.
  10. Wow, have yourself a tournament Diego Forlan. Oranje are gonna have to earn that spot in the final.
  11. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 02:07 PM) Well Jordan was His Airness. I guess it's only lame if he gave that name to himself. If thats what your nickname is, thats fine, I get it. Its just calling yourself King to the rest of the world, its just a bit arrogant and lame like you said, but whatever. He is who he is.
  12. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 02:00 PM) What do you mean? His nickname is "King James," not exactly new Yeah, I guess so, if thats his nickname I don't know, hes a basketball player, not a rapper, they don't call him King during games, but whatever. It does fit with his dream of being a global icon though.
  13. I don't believe that it's Lebron's Twitter, but if it is, it being named KingJames says a lot about him.
  14. Halak signs a new deal with the Blues. 4 years, $15 mil. $3.75M average cap hit. $2.75 M next season, $3.50 M in 11-12, $4.25 M in 12-13 and $4.50 M in 13-14. Halak did carry a team on his back for two rounds, but Niemi still won the Cup, so I can't see how he doesnt ask for at least $4 million a year. We will see.
  15. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 4, 2010 -> 05:47 PM) I've been looking at some advanced basketball metrics...and to my surprise, Carlos Boozer is probably the second best big man out of the big 4 when he is healthy. 2010 Wins Produced/WARP Bosh: 13.5/14 Boozer: 11.3/11.7 Stoudemire: 11.3/10.8 Lee: 6.2/13.2 From this, it seems like Lee's numbers don't exactly match up. WARP and wins produced are two different things, but usually, they do correlate. Anyways, I would doubt that David Lee is almost as good as Chris Bosh. Playing with Deron Williams will do that to your numbers, not that I don't like Boozer, just sayin.
  16. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 11:17 AM) wow if there's one thing i don't want to see it's a classic european power matchup. Give me netherlands or a south american team. Don't worry bmags. I can guarantee you will get Netherlands or a South American team in the final

  18. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jul 2, 2010 -> 02:34 PM) word is that Pippen hated the Bulls too for dismantling the team and trading him to Houston, but sources say he actually have a pretty healthy relationship with the team and is helping out this summer. They worked a sign and trade with Houston simply to get Scottie as much money as possible, which they didn't have to do.
  19. Stat of the day: Cubs have now lost 11 straight series openers. The last time they started a series with a win was May 25 vs. the Dodgers.
  20. This also doesn't guarantee where your seats will be located. You could be looking just for the cheapest upper deck seats, and they could say only lower level behind home plate for $150 are available. If you can't afford that or won't spend that much, then you are s*** out of luck and lose your deposit.
  21. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 2, 2010 -> 11:23 AM) I think this process is going to show us a lot about what Lebron thinks is important Cavs - loyalty Bulls/Heat - winning Nets/Knicks/Clips- money Sticking with the Cavs could be just as much about money as well, cause they can offer him the highest & longest contract. I think the whole endorsement idea about LA & NY is a bit overrated in some people's minds. Its the 21st century, he can easily become a global icon whether he plays in New York, Cleveland, or Salt Lake City. The people in China that Nike advertises him too could care less what team he plays for.
  22. Felipe Melo, 1 own goal, 1 well-deserved red card. I hope the Brazilian drug cartels aren't as bad as the Colombians were in 1994 for his sake. I have the Dutch making the final in my bracket, LETS GO ORANJE!!!
