  1. Reading all of the LeBron stuff reminds me of last July 1, when the Hawks signed Hossa, the biggest FA out there, along with Madden/Kopecky and suddenly became Stanley Cup favorites, and then champions of course. That was fun.
  2. Good to finally a see a thread where every single person agrees that the Sox made the correct move!!!
  3. Flyers re-signed Leighton, two years, $3.1 million. I thought they'd sign or trade for a big name to finally shore up that spot but I guess not.
  4. So much for Luke Scott for now, from his Yahoo player page.
  5. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 09:18 PM) Just saw this too... that's quite a f***ing haul for the Hawks. You think so? Do you know anything about these guys? Stalberg seems to be the only one who played in the NHL last season, numbers not very impressive for a 24 year old. Either way, I'm not upset to see Versteeg gone. For the money he made, he definitely made some fancy plays, but then he also would have a lot of screw ups as well.
  6. Bengie Molina has been traded to the Rangers for Chris Ray and a PTBNL
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 08:13 PM) Boers has the NBA sources, while Bernstein has the MLB sources. By cracky?
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 05:26 PM) When you factor in defense (he's throw out 52% of attempted base stealers this year), there hasn't been a better all-around catcher in baseball. Good for him, I always liked him. Makes you wonder why this is his 5th team in 6 years since we traded him to Seattle though.
  9. Billy Butler is gonna be rocking the White Sox for a while, dude is a hitter. Or at least until KC can't afford him anymore.
  10. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 05:16 PM) I heard LeBron is signing with the Chicago Sky JuWanna Bron?
  11. Cubs still can't figure out Dotel & the Pirates. Pitching staff gives up 5 runs in 3 days, yet they still lose the series.
  12. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 03:50 PM) If Juan Uribe knew how much s*** talking was directed at him it would probabaly hurt his feelings. I'm thinking Juan and his brother would then come after us, guns drawn
  13. Tiger's divorce is about to be official. Elin Nordegren gets $750 million dollars, sole physical custody of the kids, but she can never come out in public and talk about Tiger's flings when they were married. Tiger has to keep all girlfriends away from the kids, can only bring them around if they get married. WOW, $750 million f***ing dollars! http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2010/...-woods-divorce/
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 02:35 PM) Because heroes of sports championship seasons deserve better than that. Unless you buy them, championships are exceedingly rare. Should USC fans still give OJ Simpson a free pass due to the title in '67 or is it OK for them to boo him now????
  15. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 10:32 AM) i used to think that obesity was tied to weather... cold weather=sit in the house and stay warm rather than walk around, tourist stuff, etc. but looking at this list, it seems like the exact opposite. Some of those spots down south, it gets so damn hot & humid, that you can't leave the house or do anything physical outside either.
  16. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 01:57 PM) There is Pods hate. People were mocking him for ending the game with a K despite the fact he drove in 2 of KC's three runs. I still don't understand whipping boy status of guys like Pods who has provided one of the greatest individual memories in the history of Chicago sports. Just baffles me. Maybe it is the hot wife theory. I know he'd have a statue built of him if he was a Cub for what he did in the WS. Greg, don't get mad at us because the White Sox chose to give Konerko, Crede, Uribe, & El Duque a statue together and didn't include Pods. I'm sure he was next on the list and not a single person here would have been upset if he had made the cut.
  17. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 01:51 PM) You could win with Wade, Bosh, and role players. But as good as the top 3 guys would be, I think it'd be a major challenge to win with Wade, Bosh, LeBron, and a bunch of league minimum guys. It would be a challenge to win playoff series against good teams. Winning 60-65 games should happen somewhat easily though.
  18. FWIW, Jesse Rogers gives his odds of free agents returning to the Hawks.
  19. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 01:03 PM) C- Toby Hall 1B- Mark Kotsay 2B- D'Angelo Jimenez SS- Orlando Cabrera (Not really sure here. Can't possibly hate Valentin or Graffanino, Alexei is boneheaded but likable. Others like Alex Cintron were too irrelevant.) 3B- Wilson Betemit OFs- Darin Erstad/Dewayne Wise/Nick Swisher/Rob Mackowiak/Timo Perez SP- Javier Vazquez SP- Danny Wright SP- Orlando Hernandez SP- Scott Schoeneweis SP- Batrolo Colon (mainly round 2 and his mysterious disappearances) Bullpen...Where to begin? Well, with Randy Williams obviously, but we have had some awful relievers over the years Randy Williams Cliff Politte Mike Jackson Rick White (not really a whipping boy, but man he was bad) Billy Koch Scott Linebrink Mike MacDougal Jose Panigua Jose Vizcaino (probably not as bad as the rest, but when your nick name is the "Jizz Can" you gonna have a spot here) Damaso Marte (another one who who wasn't terrible, but a whipping boy in 2005 he was) When Toby was signed, he was gonna be such a key component to that year's team. Then when he was injured in ST, everyone thought the season was over cause our backup C was out for the season. Then he finally played in a Sox uniform and easily made his way onto this list.
  20. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 01:08 PM) I thought I would throw this out there, who are the people on Twitter to follow to track LBJ and Bosh? Bill Simmons (@sportsguy33)
  21. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 03:45 PM) True, but look where Uruguay is. With the way England got destroyed and how badly the U.S. played when they had so many chances, group C definitely looks pretty bad. Uruguay did play S. Korea, while England played Germany, but I do agree that group C made themselves look pretty bad in the 2nd round. Looking back, if Robert Green doesn't let that cheap goal in, England wins that match and the group, and has matchups vs. Ghana & Uruguay lurking, instead of Germany. Who knows how it would have worked out, but just saying.
  22. Gavin is really, really, really due for a W.
  23. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 03:29 PM) Group C was by far the worst group in the entire cup. Group A wasn't exactly a murderers row either.
