  1. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 07:21 PM) So Aminu is responsible for all those Nigerian prince emails, eh? Or was it Akim Aliu???
  2. Seeing the Cubs lineup with a DH the last few days and seeing how they have struggled the last 1.5 years makes me realize how f***ing good & important Aramis Ramirez was in that lineup. Last year he missed half the season and this year he has been worthless and their offense just cant score. He really has been a vital part of that offense and they need him back healthy. That being said, I hope he's not ready to come back for another 4 days, so they dont f*** up our winning streak now.
  3. I think a lot of credit goes to the Blackhawks. Since they won the Cup, the Sox have gone 12-1. The only game the Sox lost was when the Hawks were in attendance, and the Sox just got too nervous from being in their awesome presence. 2.5 games back, WOW!!!
  4. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 09:54 AM) Not yet. I've seen them screw around too many times in the group stage and somehow scramble through it last second. They have some major issues right now though. I hope New Zealand finds a way to somehow get a win and advance here, it'd be an amazing story. Now it's time to all laugh at Italy...
  5. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 10:10 AM) Guess who's sitting today? Our best hitter, 2nd time in 5 games
  6. QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 09:32 AM) I'm not a capologist by any means, but here's what I come up with. They are at $53,414,670 with Huets contract. His $5.625 will not be on the books which puts them at $47,789,670 for the players below. Kane, Patrick Toews, Jonathan Hossa, Marian Sharp, Patrick Bolland, Dave Versteeg, Kris Kopecky, Tomas Reasoner, Marty Brouwer, Troy Campbell, Brian Keith, Duncan Seabrook, Brent $11,610,330 under the cap. They need to sign Niemi and Hammer both with pay increases. Let's say their at 3 and 1.5 respectively. Ladd was at 1.6 lets say they bring him up to 2. If Crawford is the backup, he should stay at 800. That would leave them at $4,310,330 under the cap and they'll need 3 more forwards and 3 more defenseman. Pretty tight. Maybe they can get Ladd at 1.8. Good resource for cap info. http://www.capgeek.com/charts.php?Team=11# I would guess that if they sign Hammer to a multi-year deal, it would be for at least $2-2.5 or so. If I am reading that website correctly, if they were to call up just Beach, Skille, & Dowell as forwards, Crawford as the backup G, and LaLonde and Hendry as blue liners, that would cost $5.2 alone. Yeah, someone else is gonna have to go. So long Versteegiak.
  7. Two weeks ago, I was all for keepng him in the majors, as we were seemingly out of the race, so just let our future potential stars work it out up here. Now that we are only 3.5 back, I think he needs be sent down, cause benching him does him no good, and he is hurting the team right now. Omar Vizquel is out-slugging him for God's sake.
  8. QUOTE (SuperSteve @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 09:02 AM) Does anyone have a breakdown who qualifies with what results for the games today? Holland is already in, Japan needs a win or tie, Denmark needs a win, Cameroon is out. The games right now are way more complicated. Italy & New Zealand both qualify with wins. Paraguay needs a win or tie, or it needs the other game to end in a tie. Slovakia needs a win and some help. I do know that if both games end up tied with the same score, then Italy & NZ will draw lots for second place.
  9. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 07:03 AM) I think his ego is too big to accept such a low salary. Or the fact that he's already signed for about $34 more million thru 2016.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 23, 2010 -> 01:15 PM) There's certainly an argument that he hasn't done the kind of job developing players that he needed to do in that role. How many talented failures does it look like they've run into? A few years ago, that team looked supposedly loaded, and it seems like only half the guys I can think of are actually still with the team. Really? It always seemed to me that they'd have success with guys coming out of nowhere, but I guess I never noticed the supposed depth of their system and the failed prospects.
  11. I think Interleague play is great. You get to play against and see teams that you normally wouldn't. Being in Chicago, I think we take that for granted cause the Cubs are always on TV versus the NL teams. The Cubs/Sox games are always fun too, but I would cut to 3 games a year.
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 23, 2010 -> 07:23 PM) Too many good players and a Stanley Cup? Sorry, I'll take winning and cap problems over having cap space and going home losing any day of the week. Sure he may have overpaid for Huet, but Huet will be in Rockford, that isn't what is causing the problem. He overpaid for Campbell, but Campell helped them win. If they were to be a great team, they were going to have cap problems eventually no matter how you slice it. I think Tallon was fired because McDonough didn't want to go unnoticed, personally. It was also under his watch that they failed to get qualifying offers out on time to several players, which cost them a few more million against the cap. In the end, he was fired because they wanted the Bowmans in, since frankly they are better at the job.
  13. Quick off-stage interview with Kaner & Sharpie, #88 has his arm around a showgirl the whole time, says "She's my new friend". Ha, the kid is something else.
  14. FYI, NHL awards show just started on Versus. Of course a Snoop Dogg performance is opening the show.
  15. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jun 23, 2010 -> 03:55 PM) Rumor of a possible Deng to Orlando trade. Bulls would get Mickael Pietrus and Marcin Gortat. One of our employees told me he heard Gortat to the Bulls on Polish radio today. I just figured it was just Chicago's Polish population starting rumors about the one Pole in the league, LOL.
  16. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 23, 2010 -> 06:14 PM) Tornado siren currently sounding in Chicago loop. I think I just heard it on the NW side too. A tornado warning popped on the screen, but it mentioned Riverside, Lyons, Cicero area.
  17. I hated to see Aliu gone, but it looks like Morin is a much better prospect. Reasoner seems to be a John Madden replacement. Can't argue with draft picks in the top two rounds. Eager is just a guy, Sopel did block a ton of shots in the playoffs, but you can find someone else to do that for much cheaper. Buffs was a vital part of the Cup run, but somebody had to go, his value ia at its highest, and you can't guarantee he will consistently do what he did in the playoffs. It's funny to see all these peoples reactions on Facebook, mostly people who just started watching in the playoffs, who actually didn't see it coming. "OMG, I can't believe they traded Big Buffs, NOOO!!"
  18. Byfuglien & Aliu gone in the same trade? I never realized that the Bowmans were just huge racists. The trade would save $4.8 from the cap = $3 for Buff + $2 for Sopel + $1 for Eager - $1.2 for Reasoner
