  1. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 21, 2010 -> 10:15 AM) So would you trade Floyd and Hudson for Lee and prospect? Not a chance. How many of Floyd's losses will Lee definitely turn into wins? I don't think the difference is big enough, and Lee will be gone after this year. Floyd is signed at a good price for a few more seasons. Also, if someone in the rotation goes down, who will step up to take the spot with Hudson gone?
  2. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jun 21, 2010 -> 08:59 AM) Buster Olney reports that the Twins will trade for Cliff Lee within the next week or two.......... Where was this? I haven't seen that on any of his blogs or twitter
  3. Wow, Portugal taking it hard to North Korea, up 7-0. I hope Kim Jong Il takes it easy on these guys when they get home, some of them might end up missing after this result.
  4. QUOTE (whitesox901 @ Jun 20, 2010 -> 09:45 PM) The Braves are hot like we are, this will be a good indicator on where we are. looking like Hanson, Hudson, Lowe vs. Danks, Buehrle, Floyd. I think Thursday should be ours, if we can beat Hanson or Hudson, I like our chances to win the series. Their offense has been hitting better recently, but it still doesn't scare me all that much.
  5. Can we please stop talking about Lance Berkman until he starts hitting at all? He has been back for almost two months and he hais still been awful. His power numbers are worse than Andruw Jones. Until he figures out what he did in the past, he is not very useful.
  6. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 20, 2010 -> 09:07 PM) Yeah, and do you remember Michael Jordan's game against Boston in the playoffs at the beginning of his career, when he put up 63 and we still lost? You've got to have players around you in basketball and football...but in baseball, as in hockey, if you've got a stud arm or a stud goalie, you can win games you've got no business winning... Very true. LeBron did have his game vs. Detroit where he was the only one to score in the 4th and they won, but I see exactly what you mean. Strasburg would easily win double digits in Pittsburgh right now and Halak took Montreal to the conf. finals this year. It's amazing how much better a team can look when their starting pitchers pitch so well.
  7. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 20, 2010 -> 04:59 PM) Other than Lincecum and Halladay, has there been a better pitcher in baseball since July of 2008 than Josh Johnson? This guy is absolutely amazing. I can't think of a more underrated pitcher in baseball. In each of his last 8 starts, he has given up one ER or less, a total of 4 ERs. With Johnson, Carpenter, & Marcum, just to name a few, I'd say the doctors have this whole Tommy John surgery thing figured out.
  8. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 20, 2010 -> 07:48 PM) I'll add a great deal of insight to this thread by pointing out that Brazil is really good. I don't know how that team ever loses. If every round was best of 3 or 5, I think Brazil would win every World Cup. After watching them play, sometimes you watch two other teams, and it doesn't even seem like the same sport.
  9. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 20, 2010 -> 08:31 PM) I understand the hesitancy because we are beating weak NL teams here, but I think this is more a coincidence than you guys are willing to admit. Baseball is not a game like football or basketball. It is a game where 1 or 2 players can heavily influence the outcome of the game and render the talent disparity between the teams as a whole almost entirely irrelevant. I don't really care who you play, winning 10 of 11 baseball in the major leagues is a hell of an accomplishment, and it's a great sign that this team has things back on the right track. I wouldn't be shocked if the starting pitching continues this run and we continue winning series from solid teams, whether that be the Braves, or solid AL teams. I can understand the skepticism, but this wasn't just a few series' wins we put together. This is a genuine damn good streak of baseball and I tend to think we'd be beating just about whomever we would have run up against right now. LeBron James & Peyton Manning say hello. Seriously though, I agree with you. Its no coincidence that the Sox went on this streak at the exact same time that the starting pitchers turned it around. On Friday & Saturday, we scored a total of 3 runs, yet we went 2-0. In March most people thought this team had a chance to compete because of the rotation. It may have took them 2.5 months, but they are finally showing why that was expected.
  10. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 20, 2010 -> 05:23 PM) Remember when Tampa was on that '27 Yankees like pace? If the Red Sox win tonight, they're in a virtual tie. It's a shame one of those three teams are going to miss the postseason (I hope it's Boston). It's a shame if Tampa misses the postseason. f*** Boston & New York, having the top two payrolls, they should always be there, I won't feel bad if a team with maybe 1/3 of the payroll takes their spot.
  11. At this time last year, there would have been 20 posts in here just saying Gordon
  12. I really need HRs & RBIs, so a month ago I traded away Howie Kendrick & Johan Santana for Dan Uggla. I probably gave up a bit too much, but I really needed the power and my rotation is still stacked. Since I made the trade, Kendrick has 5 HRs and 27 RBIs, while Uggla has 3 HRs and 11 RBIs. I'm still in first place, but what the f***?????
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 10:28 PM) Rios is a lock. Paulie should make it but won't. Jenks should make it and might. Thornton would make it if set up men made it. He won't. The starters were too s***ty for too long a period for any of them to make it. But Danks is our finest starter. Prediction: One and one only: Alex Rios. Jenks should make it??? There are 9 closers in the AL that have better numbers than him. He should not be anywhere near an All-Star spot.
  14. Just finished watching the Fresh Meat finale. Entertaining season, thought the Fresh Meat made it better. Good to see the good guy, who happens to be the most athletic person, win despite having to carry his big tittied partner the whole time. TJ was the star of this season, especially after he called out Evelyn. That reunion show needs to go, cause its so scripted that its basically unwatchable. The Real World New Orleans trailer looks like an awesome location with some horrible people. I hope it will be watchable, but I don't expect it to be.
  15. Finishing up June 17, 1994 right now. Awesome, love the way it was done, just letting all the events of the day tell the story. I do remember being a young teenager trying to watch the NBA finals and just having OJ take up most of the screen.
  16. Stephen Stras-who?????? Seriously though, way to step it up the last few starts Gavin, looking good.
  17. Come on Juan, do your thing. Mess with this guy, make him throw a bad pitch or two.
  18. Gavin says, "f*** you guys. If you can't hit this guy, I'll do it my damn self."
  19. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 06:45 PM) Very few have played because they're usually not all that good, with the exception of Shin Soo Choo. I will have you know that Hee Seop Choi ended his MLB career with an OPS+ of 106.
  20. Helluva back-to-back matchups for Gavin. No-hit Lilly then Cy Strasburg. Good to see he is stepping up and matching them best he can.
