  1. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 06:57 PM) He did the wave with his/her hands though, lol. Whew, good to know.
  2. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 06:56 PM) Southpaw is getting raped with a flag pole by the Nationals mascot. NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
  3. Now thats the Nick Blackburn we all know and love. Damn, this Strasburg guy is kinda good. Its good to see Gavin has seemed to turn a corner on the season, I think we can win this game.
  4. and Boom Goes the Dynamite. Mike Stanton, 1st career home run, grand slam off of Garza
  5. If USA beats Algeria, US advances. IF USA ties Algeria: & England beats Slovenia, US is out & Slovenia beats England, US advances & England ties Slovenia: if England doesn't outscore US by more than 1 goal on Wed., US advances if England outscores US by more than 2 goals on Wed., England advances if England outscores US by exactly 2 goals on Wed., then they draw lots for 2nd place in the group If Algeria beats USA, then US is out Does that sound right?
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 03:17 PM) Bob Howry in warm weather at Wrigley is quite fun to watch. That signing really cracked me up when it happened. Our bullpen isn't the best, so let's sign an old guy who got cut from quite possibly the worst bullpen in MLB history.
  7. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 02:41 PM) Slovenia is one of the biggest minnows of the entire tournament. I don't think they have much a shot at getting a result at all, but who knows with how England is playing now. Either way it shouldn't matter. US just has to play like their capable of playing. I know they finished 2nd in a very weak group, but they still beat Russia and qualified out of UEFA, the toughest confederation in the world. They don't have the talent that England does, but I don't see how you can say they have no chance to get any kind of result vs. England.
  8. I know this is a fantasy baseball article, but still an interesting analysis of the Cuban Tank.
  9. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 12:20 PM) The fact that who advances in the World Cup could be decided on drawing lots seems so incredibly stupid. Should never come to that. Totally, although just score that one extra goal and you don't have to worry about it. It actually happened in 1990. Ireland & Netherlands both had two 1-1 draws and one scoreless draw. They ended up drawing lots and Ireland advanced.
  10. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 12:12 PM) The scenario was changed recently (within the last 4 years or so) and a playoff would be the deciding way if they were still tied. Maybe it was, but here's a link to the offical 2010 World Cup Regulations on FIFA's website. page 47, Article 39.5, it says that the final tiebreaker is drawing lots. Maybe they changed it for all other tournaments? http://www.fifa.com/mm/document/tournament...010inhalt_e.pdf
  11. It would be so awesome to kncock Strasburg out after 2 or 3 innings.
  12. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 11:42 AM) The rules say there will be a playoff as long as scheduling works out. I found this on two different websites:
  13. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 11:08 AM) So right now Slovenia has 3 goals, US has 3 goals. If the US and Slovenia tie for points you are going to see the unheard of playoff. There is no playoff. If they end up tied in everything, then they draw lots to see who advances. I believe it happened once before in the 90s.
  14. Wow, huge win for Serbia. The refs may have blew it with the cards they were giving away, but Podolski still missed a penalty shot. That blows the group wide open and suddenly Serbia is in a good position to advance.
  15. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 17, 2010 -> 10:25 PM) We were 6 games out on May 26th. So our recent hot streak put us half a game further away then we were four weeks ago. Time for me to start saving for playoff tix.
  16. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 17, 2010 -> 10:26 PM) They will. But their SP outside of Halladay/Hamels is extremely suspect. True that. I still question Hamels though. He shows flashes of 2008, but then he hangs a couple of pitches and starts giving up homers.
  17. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 17, 2010 -> 09:21 PM) As are the Mets. The top of the NL East should be quite competitive going forward. At some point the Phillies have to start hitting again, right? They have been going through a way longer than normal slump.
  18. QUOTE (WCSox @ Jun 17, 2010 -> 12:42 PM) If he can be had for cheap, I wouldn't mind giving this guy a year or two to see if he can get back to his Rays level of play. Iwamura at 3B, Teahen in RF, and Quentin at DH would be a defensive improvement next year. The guy is already 31. You give him another year or two, odds are his skills will be on the decline, if they aren't already.
  19. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 17, 2010 -> 11:59 AM) How good is Hak Ju Lee at hitting though...? And how many good Korean hitters are there in baseball? Oh yeah, none. Shin-Soo Choo says hello
