  1. Just saw the replay of the Nigerian red card. He definitely got his spike at the Greek's knee, but he barely even hit him and the two-second delayed reaction by the Greek player is absolutely classic.
  2. Nigeria was outplaying Greece for the first half hour, up 1-0. Then they got a red card for taking a boot to an opponent's knee, and Greece takes over. Tied 1-1 now.
  3. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 17, 2010 -> 12:20 AM) Renyel Pinto was just DFA'd by the Marlins. You know what to do, Kenny. Why did they do that? His numbers don't look that bad this season. KW, get on the phone now. Randy Williams, start to pack your bags.
  4. '85 Bears still can't shy away from the spotlight If the Blackhawks play like that over the next 3 or 4 years??? Umm, you dumb asses only made it to one Super Bowl, what the hell are you talking about??? These guys are getting to be as annoying as the 72 Dolphins.
  5. I would just worry that the knee surgery has affected his swing somehow and thats why hes been so worthless this season.
  6. QUOTE (G&T @ Jun 16, 2010 -> 02:41 PM) Chicago is the only city that has championships in all 4 major sports in the last 25 years. 9 titles might be the most for any city over that stretch. And none are the Cubs. I was hoping it was, but I think New York had 10, damn Yankees. Then again, M-Jeff is the only reason we are so high on the list. LA has 7 (pending game 7), if you count Anaheim they have 9.
  7. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 16, 2010 -> 01:42 PM) Can someone help me here? I am not bad at math, but my numbers don't match this Web site's: http://www.nhlnumbers.com/overview.php?tea...amp;season=0910 When I insert the salaries of the players into excel (with Toews bonus included) I get a cap hit of $64.27 (in millions). However, the site is at $57.566. I used the sites exact salary numbers for next year on my sheet, but we don't match. Anyone wanna check the site for me and see what you come up with? I am just curious about the Hawks' cap situation is all. I don't know if you are counting Cam Barker or not, but we don't pay his salary anymore. Also, do Crawford/Dowell's contracts count in full as they spent very little time in the major leagues? I also think that the "Ext." column might be the actual cap hit Toews, Kane & Keith have. Considering the cap issues, I would believe that the Bowmans worked out Keith's extension to have less than an $8 million cap hit, even if thats his salary. Anyway, cool wesbite, thanks for sharing.
  8. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jun 16, 2010 -> 12:55 PM) I wouldn't right them off yet, they should have scored a few times today. They just need to get Torres match fit ASAP, so they can play Villa wide on the left where he belongs in that 4-5-1 Barcelona formation they use. They had more than enough chances, just couldn't get that final touch into the net. I think it will all come down to the the matchup vs. Chile, a win there gets them in. (Assuming they get the 3 points vs. Honduras of course)
  9. I just clicked on this thread thinking that it was a new post regarding Steve's Carmex situation.
  10. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jun 16, 2010 -> 12:37 PM) The s***ty defense has been there with the cubs for years. The pitchers would K a lot of guys and they would hit a ton to cover it up. Also lee is really falling off. D. Lee has been one of the top fielding 1st basemen in the NL over the last few years, which makes last night even more surprising. He is definitely falling off at the plate, which is weird cause he put up his second highest career OPS last season.
  11. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 16, 2010 -> 10:40 AM) Wait, so we still think it's awesome that the Bears last championship was 25 years ago? I, for one, don't relish that championship seeing as I'm 27. Unfortunately thats the way it is in this city and thats how it will be for a long time to come. Thats why all those old 85 Bears are constantly on the radio, TV, making appearances, etc. I'm the same age as you and I agree. Chicago just won't let that team go. All I know is that since 1985, they have won 5 playoff games, and only two since '94.

  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 15, 2010 -> 06:38 PM) Juan has been an absolute liability with RISP. Wow, .178 on the year. Explains why he only has 7 RBI, even if he is the leadoff hittter, thats awful. .286 career hitter with RISP
  14. Maybe AJ has some slight injury he is resting??? Because of the 10-5 rights and since no other catcher is in Pittsburgh either, I'm sure its not a trade. Ozzie at it again.
  15. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 15, 2010 -> 04:37 PM) Gavin Floyd is one of the worst hitters I have ever watched. Jose Contreras says hello.
  16. QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Jun 15, 2010 -> 02:17 PM) I'm a big fan of Niemi, but it would be simpy bonkers for any team pay him franchise money and give him a long term deal. I guess stranger things have happened, but I think we see him back here 3 years 10-11 mil. Like Cristobal Huet getting a 4-year, 22.4 million contract???
  17. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 15, 2010 -> 12:30 PM) Right. THE POINT OF MY POST WAS TO BEAT THOSE OFFERS THAT YOU WANTED TO WAIT FOR, BECAUSE TEAMS ARE GOING TO JUMP ALL OVER THE 26 YEAR OLD FINNISH F*CKER!! You offer Niemi a fair deal the moment you can, and sign him, you don't sit back and wait. Of course you offer Niemi a fair deal. Just saying, what if you offer him a reasonable, 3 yr., 10.5 mil deal, and he says, no, I think I can make more on the open market. He does not have to accept the Hawks' offer. The Flyers say f*** it, we need to finally have a franchise goalie and Niemi is it and offer him like a 5 yr., 25 mil deal, you can take our 1st round pick. Then its not as simple of a decision.
  18. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 15, 2010 -> 11:35 AM) Blocking out his last year? Or as a Sox fan do you not want to admit it? I totally forgot about that. Looked up his stats on Baseball Reference and my eyes only saw the CHC, not the CHW in his final season.
  19. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jun 15, 2010 -> 10:59 AM) How much is Niemi going to want also with his new contract is also going to be an issue. Its gonna be very interesting to see what happens with him. On one hand, he is a Stanley Cup winning goalie who won a few playoff games all by himself. On the other hand, he looked mediocre at times in the playoffs but had the best team in the league around him. The Hawks have oviously been hurt by big goalie contracts before with Huet/Khabi, and look what giving Luongo big $$$$ has done for Vancouver. Looking at the rest of the playoffs, yeah Leighton may have cost Philly the Cup, but they also made it to game 6 of the Finals with him & Boucher in net. The Canadiens went far with a 9th round pick standing on his head. Its a tough decision as to how much and how long you sign Niemi for.
