Joe Cowley says our season is over: do you agree?

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jun 4, 2010 -> 10:53 AM) Well done. I couldn't read a better summary. BTW this season was over long before it started. Could anyone really think back in Feb. this would be a World Series caliber team? I agree 100% on the first part. No one thought that they were a WS favorite, but many really thought they could compete with the Twins for the division title, as did I. Then, with this pitching staff, or at least what this pitching staff was supposed to be, maybe they could get hot in the postseason. -

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 3, 2010 -> 09:43 AM) My excitement for this upcoming Illinois football season: -3 out of 10. It's going to be an awful 5 months - 4-8 at best, Zook gets canned, and unless one of the assistants does something special they'll be gone and replaced and the whole rebuilding project (which started 5 years ago) will start again. Could be worse though. We could be Michigan. At least we don't really have the recent tradition of being any good. 4-8 is not as bad as you think. They didn't have that good of a record once from 2003-2006. Thats improvement. In Zook We Trust!!!!! -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 4, 2010 -> 10:17 AM) Stark did the same thing and got 777. Interesting. Looks like Corocan on SI only looked at the years in Cincy from 01-06. Stark analyzed the early Seattle years too and that added 62 more.

Best pure hitter of this generation and along with the Big Hurt, the only two that you could be at least 98% positive that they were not juicing. SI. com does a cool analysis to see what his numbers would look like if he wasn't hurt every year in Cincy. It put him at 722 career homers.

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 3, 2010 -> 05:56 PM) Dave Trembley is on the chopping block. He gone. Although I don't know if anyone could have succeeded with some of the pitching staffs they gave him.

Drogba out for the World Cup. Broke his right arm vs. Japan. Another huge blow to an African side. -

HAWKS WIN! HAWKS WIN THE STANLEY CUP!!

1. What a f***ing game. 2. Versus sucks balls 3. Since when is there a rule that says Chris Pronger cannot be called for cross-check penalties? Anytime Byfuglien steps in front of the net, he gets a stick into his back. 4. 4th line!! 5. I know the penalties have been favored towards Philly, but the Hawks still need to do a much better job on the power play. Philly is 4 for 10, while the Hawks are 0 for 6. Thats not gonna get it done. 6. I still think the Hawks are in the drivers seat in this series, but Friday is gonna be a big game. You do not wanna turn it into a best of 3. -

QUOTE (hogan873 @ Jun 2, 2010 -> 09:20 AM) That pretty much sums it up. It's been an incredibly frustrating season, and I don't think we'll start feeling better until some moves are made and we can actually start looking towards 2011. Or until the players we will be depending on in 2011 start playing much better. -
QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Jun 2, 2010 -> 12:03 AM) I don't think it really has anything to do with the Hawks. I just think Cubs fans feel the same way about their team that we do about ours. They had a very competitive stretch and I think many of the fans see it fading fast and can't justify the ticket prices they charge to watch a bad team. If there is a Hawk playoff game the same night, then maybe there is a small effect, but I think you are exactly right. Their tickets are not cheap, and the fans did not see a playoff contender this spring and are sick of paying so much money for a crappy team. I have friends who are die-hard fans who finally just said f*** it, I'm not wasting all this money on this s*** team. In the end, they will still have great attendance figues because of Wrigley & the Cubbies, but I think theres been a noticeable decrease.

Don't worry, Americans aren't the only ones who love crazy conspiracy theories. I have a client who still tells me that the "fog" at the Russian airport where the Polish president's plane crashed was not actually fog. No, it was from smoke bombs set off by the Russians to purposely make the plane go down.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 2, 2010 -> 07:31 AM) Our pitching has yet to get hot which is encouraging, if they could get hot and win lets say 7 or 8 in a row and then continue winning series we could jump back into it. However its not very likely. I have been thinking the same thing, but I feel less and less confident that MB, JFP, & Gavin are gonna turn it around that much to get us on a hot streak. Not to mention, I could see our offense hitting a funk then and us losing 2-1 & 1-0 games instead of 9-6 & 8-5 games. -

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ May 28, 2010 -> 03:43 PM) cubs will end up winning this game agasint good bullpen pitchers actually. Why did they not bring in Zamabrano to stretch him out as this would have been perfect. Something is off with that situation. I agree. If he really is gonna start next weekend, here was the perfect chance to get him multiple innings in a real game.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 28, 2010 -> 03:40 PM) Well, Cardinals haven't scored any runs against the Cubs mop-up relievers in 8 innings, and Cubs are creeping back into the game. True. And now the only player in Chicago more disappointing than CQ and Beckham has a great chance to finally make some noise. Scratch that, fly out for A-Ram.

Cubs 1st meeting of the year with the Cards this afternoon. Randy Wells gives up hits to the first 6 batters he faces, gets pulled down 5-0, runner on 2nd, nobody out.
