  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 28, 2010 -> 09:46 AM) SJ top line is defensively weak compared to Philly, Richards is a beast much like Toews. Thats what I was just thinking about too. A big reason the Sharks lost was that their top line would get stuck back on D and just get destroyed. Heatley finished the playoffs -7 and Thornton finished -11 which is absolutely unacceptable. Heatley was the one who somehow lost sight of the biggest player on the ice for the game 3 OT winner. I definitely don't see Phillys forwards being anywhere as easy to score on.
  2. Sports Guy was at Wrigley yesterday, the last two made me laugh.
  3. Hawks win in 6. Philly steals one of the first two at the UC (I say game 1 since I won't be there). Hawks return the favor in Philly, come back home and win a tough battle at home to make it 3-2. Go back to Philly, dominate and the cup is finally back in Chicago. I'm sure it won't happen like that, but thats my prediction and I'm sticking to it.
  4. The anti-KW movement's favorite new poster child is pitching at Wrigley this afternoon. Hope he can continue his success in his return home.
  5. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 26, 2010 -> 02:04 PM) It may not be logical, but its reality. Players have emotions. Stat or not, its part of the game. It can affect some teams, but the Royals & Pirates haven't sucked for the last 15 years because of a lack of chemistry, just as great chemistry is not the reason the Yankees and Red Sox have dominated the AL East the past decade.
  6. Well done Pena. Get some ice on that shoulder and see you in 3 days.
  7. Pena still in there??? I think 3 is enough Ozzie, we got the guys to go 7-8-9
  8. Unfortunately, when they remodeled Soldier Field they made it the smallest stadium in the league (61,000), so no chance for a Super Bowl in Chicago. I think the minimum capacity is 70,000 or so.
  9. Who said the rotating DH with Kostay wouldn't work?????
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 26, 2010 -> 12:26 PM) I thought at the time there was probably a reason why the Brewers were willing to part with him but not Escobar. We will see how it plays out, but who would have thought they would get a better prospect for Casey Blake (Santana) than for CC.
  11. QUOTE (docsox24 @ May 26, 2010 -> 12:24 PM) the bottom of this indians order is just atrocious So much for getting a top prospect for Sabathia. LaPorta is looking awful
  12. Good job T-Pain, at least one more scoreless please
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 26, 2010 -> 12:13 PM) Branyon doing his Kotsay imitation on the basepaths. fixed for this years team
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 26, 2010 -> 01:38 AM) Is it a fluke Montreal scored so few goals in that series? Are you at all worried the Hawks won't win? It'd be a shame to not claim the Cup since we have home ice and are thus the favorites. I don't think it was a fluke. Philly has a strong defense and Montreal is not the greatest offensive team. They got big goals when they needed them earlier in the playoffs and rode Halak, but offense was never their strength. I definitely think that the Hawks will win, but I will be worried until I see #81 finally hoisting that cup over his head. Our superior talent is what makes us favorites, not home ice. So far in the playoffs, the road team has a slightly better record than the home team I believe. The two teams with the best home records in the regular season both lost 3 home games to lose their series (WAS & VAN).
  15. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 25, 2010 -> 12:40 PM) I wouldnt. The Flyers were one of the popular picks to make it to the cup at the beginning of the year, they are very evenly matched with the Hawks. Out of the 3 teams the Hawks have played, Philly most resembles the only team that actually gave them trouble, Nashville. They have a great tough blue line group that I think is gonna be key to the series. Leighton may have shut out the Habs 3 times, but hes gonna need a whole lot of help if hes gonna win 4 vs. the Hawks.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ May 25, 2010 -> 12:18 PM) Frank's walkoff bomb was against the Twins the year before I believe, and that was the day after we acquired Alomar and Everett...and the day before the Koch/Crawford implosion. Frank didn't have any walkoffs I can remember in 2005, but he did have a huge 3 run homer against Tampa Bay around the ASB in the 8th inning. Yeah, July 5 down 4-3 in the 8th, he hit a 3-run bomb vs. the Rays. Also, one week earlier he hit a solo shot in the 13th inning off Rodney to win in Detroit
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ May 25, 2010 -> 11:10 AM) Timo and Dustin Hermanson. Besides those two, everyone contributed. Hermanson did contribute. He gave up the game-tying double in the 8th inning of WS Game 3. If he didn't do that, then Blum would have never hit his GW 14th inning homer, Widger would never get an RBI with the bases-loaded walk, & Marte wouldn't have gotten the win in that game. Hermanson blew a lead, just to allow 3 other players to contribute in that game, who otherwise really did nothing in the playoffs.
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 25, 2010 -> 12:51 AM) My point AGAIN was Sox fans, at least on here, undervalue their own. Somebody respond to my point made in the long summary above from Game One of the WS. Which players on there do you consider great former Sox? There's no love from some of you for guys who gave you a WS ... and in contrast, f***ing Cub fans worship those chokers from '69 who finished about 10 games out after blowing the big lead to the Mets. Jenkins, Banks, Williams, Santo, Kessinger ... oh they are immortal by Flub fans. From some Sox fans on here, all ll I read is b****ing about Rowand, Dye, Garland, Crede, Pods, Uribe, et. all. They were very good players. Deal with it. If Pods hit a walkoff WS homer for the Cubs, he'd be worshiped in this city forever. He's mocked on here for getting picked off a few times last year. My god. You act like people forgot that Pods hit a walkoff WS homer. Everyone on this board will remember him for that and be grateful for it forever. However, that was 5 years ago, and we want the Sox to get back to that postion today. If he isn't the best player to take them there right now, then people are gonna say that. His baserunning cost the Sox a few games last year, so people have the right to b**** about him. It doesn't change their memories of 2005. Banks, Williams, & Jenkins are hall of famers, I don't know how you can compare Rowand & Crede & Pods to them either. If the Hawks pull out this series, it won't change the fact Brent Sopel is awful at hockey. I'd be glad he helped win the Cup, but I can still comment on his play. Cliff Levingston, Bobby Hansen, Randy Brown, etc, weren't great basketball players at all, why should I act like they were because they helped the Bulls win NBA titles.
