  1. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 17, 2010 -> 11:39 AM) Sometimes another team will think a change of scenery will benefit a player or perhaps they see a flaw in his mechanics that they think they can fix. True, but that sounds more of like a spring training or early season idea, not something to test out when you are fighting for a playoff spot.
  2. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ May 17, 2010 -> 10:50 AM) The last 50 seconds was such a pathetic display, Thornton's wiff was priceless. In related news, apparently Niemi's nickname is f*** CITY. Some guy at the UC was yelling rape city because he was beasting and his girlfriend got mad so he changed it to f*** city. The more you know. I don't understand the Niemi nickname thing, especially that the guy was "beasting"? And is that actually his nickname from the players, or did some drunk at the UC make it up?
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ May 17, 2010 -> 11:20 AM) Maybe we can trade for their righty set-up man and their SS! In all seriousness, Jenks as a set-up man for them makes a lot of sense. They wouldn't need Konerko or AJP, and I can't see them taking in Buehrle. Not really. If you are in a pennant race and your set-up guy can't get people out and blows games, that makes absolutely no sense at all.
  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 17, 2010 -> 09:45 AM) I like the uproar about development in Wrigley. "Keep the neighborhood the same" residents are screaming at the top of their lungs. Of course most of these people dont actually live there and if you kept that area the same as it used to be we might as well move the crack dens and rundown buildings back in to make it really looks like it used to before development cleaned it up. I understand why the iO owner could be upset cause her business will have to be moved for a while. However, all this talk about the "feel and look" of the neighborhood cracks me up. From about Grace to Roscoe, Clark St. is nothing but a baseball stadium, a McDonalds, and a s***load of bars. If you walk down there anytime after a Cubs game or a weekend night, there is nothing but drunks roaming the street and garbage along the curbs and sidewalks. The only reason you live there and your property is worth so much is because of that stadium and the team, so shut the hell up.
  5. Reds win 2 out of 3 vs. STL, and are now in 1st place in the NL Central. I guess its the first time since July that the Cards weren't in first. I know its only mid-May, but the Reds have been popular sleeper picks the last couple years, maybe this is the year they can hang in there until September.
  6. Kinda disappointed with NBC's coverage and the lack of replays on the early penalty calls. I'd like to see how the penalty was committed and whether or not it was a good call. It seemed like it took them a while to catch up on the Bolland/Versteeg mix up as well.
  7. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ May 16, 2010 -> 09:21 AM) I voted Houston because to be a fan it would probably mean I would have to live there. If that was the #1 criteria, then Detroit would be the unanimous winner.
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 16, 2010 -> 08:16 PM) There's essentially 6 players on the entire roster absolved from any blame for this abomination of a season so far: Danks, Thornton, Santos, Konerko, Jones and Rios. I'd have to say 7 players, Lucy/Castro combo has done everything you can ask for from the backup C spot. The fact that I am mentioning that shows how bad this team is.
  9. Wow, what a game, 85 combined shots. I mentioned earlier that it might come down to the goalies and thats what happened. Niemi played better than Nabokov and the Hawks won. This series should be incredible if it keeps up like this. I watched the East Game 1 and it barely seemed like the same sport. This is looking like the Stanley Cup Finals a round earlier.
  10. Hopefully the fact that most people will be watching the Hawks game will take the pressure of these guys and maybe they can win another series!!!!
  11. Congrats Jose. Even when Lidge is healthy, he tends to suck, so maybe you can ride this role all the way to a World Series clinching save.
  12. GAMEDAY b****ES!!!!! Lets get it done Hawks. It should be a great series. I'm thinking the Hawks skill and overall depth should pull out the series in the end, but it will be tight. I expect many shots out of both teams, so it could come down to the goalies, and both have struggled at times too.
  13. QUOTE (NIUSox @ May 15, 2010 -> 10:14 AM) Actually wouldn't that schedule be CDT? Fixed it, are you happy now????
  14. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ May 14, 2010 -> 03:22 PM) Is that official? Yeah, sorry, didn't realize it was all Eastern. Here's the official CDT one. Sunday, May 16 at San Jose, 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 18 at San Jose, 9:00 p.m. Friday, May 21 at Chicago, 7:00 p.m. Sunday, May 23 at Chicago, 2:00 p.m. *Tuesday, May 25 at San Jose, 8:00 p.m. *Thursday, May 27 at Chicago, 7:00 p.m. *Saturday, May 29 at San Jose, 7:00 p.m. Go Hawks!!!!!
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 14, 2010 -> 05:19 PM) Interesting poll in espn magazine polling MLB players on the manager they would least like to play for. Coming in at second least desirable was Sweet Lou with 29% of the vote. Coming in first with 30%, the Ozzeroo, and the big gripe was something he gets complemented on often. His face time on TV and all the attention he gets. Best part of that poll was 24% of the players said that Chicago had the best groupies in the league. Now thats something to be proud of.
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 15, 2010 -> 08:33 AM) You are right, there is absolutely zero reason to have Omar DH. Why not play him in the field? How about 3B? Teahen has shown he has no clue how to play there. It may have saved a run or 2 having Omar there last night. There's a reason Omar, who has been in the big leagues 22 seasons, had never DHed until last night. Actually a couple, but Ozzie just thinks he knows more than anyone else. I heard on the radio before the game that the last time Vizquel DHed was two games with the Mariners in 1993. So that means the entire decade he was about 27 to 37 years old in the AL, not one manager thought it was a good idea to DH him. Yet Ozzie decided to do it when the guy is 43 years old. f*** that. Scratch that, I was wrong, which it makes it worse. Nobody in his entire career chose him as a DH even once, but Ozzie does now. Ugh.
  17. Listened to the last inning on AM 720 yesterday. Ron Santo is f***ed! I mean, he has always been goofy and out of it, but he had no idea what was going on. He was trying to quiz Pat on recent Cubs playoff series hits leader, and nobody even knew what the hell he was talking about.
  18. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 14, 2010 -> 03:17 PM) What an awful lineup. Ugh Ain't that the truth. Mark might have to pitch a shutout, even with Meche on the mound for them.
