  1. Headline on the Trib's sports website: LOL, Good news for him I guess. Sounds like he will miss game 6 though, which could be a huge advantage for the Hawks. Vancouver is already weak at the blue line, and he is one of their best D guys. Hopefully Q can wake the guys up and end the series tommorrow, cause you sure as f*** don't wanna play a game 7, cause anything can happen.
  2. I'm going with Rios. It was pretty ballsy to claim a guy making so much money who had been struggling. He a great defensive CF who can definitely be a 20/20 hitter. I didn't vote for Beckham, cause picking a kid like that in the top 10 of the draft isn't exactly a very tough decision to make and we have to see how he adjusts from the sophomore struggles.
  3. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 7, 2010 -> 09:59 AM) won't matter, only way the Cards don't absolutely run away with this division is a major injury or two Its amazing how good they are with players like Brendan Ryan & Skip Schumaker getting at-bats everyday. That Colby Rasmus is becoming a heckuva ball player though.
  4. QUOTE (Chi Town Sox @ May 7, 2010 -> 09:14 AM) http://twitter.com/Enrique_Rojas1/status/13549863110 Starlin Castro called up supposedly Interesting. Theriot is actually hitting the ball very well and Fontenot has been OK, almost at .300. Maybe they can put the kid at 3rd to replace Aramis and his .259 slugging %.
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 7, 2010 -> 07:29 AM) Well, you could definitely make the argument that we should have cashed in our chips with Joe Crede and Bobby Jenks before they lost all their value. We waited until Fields and Anderson were basically worth nothing, not to mention Lance Broadway. Uribe walked away with nothing in return. The big debates are going to start centering around trading Buehrle and Danks, the two moves that could sink this organization for 4-5 years or propel us quickly back into contention in just a couple of seasons. (Yes, look at the Twins, they survived horrible trade returns for Santana and Garza/Bartlett and are still prospering because of their farm system resupplying major leaguers to replace aging veterans like Hunter, Jacque Jones, Shannon Stewart and Radke). We thought Fields and Anderson were the future at 3B & CF, they weren't trading chips. It turned out we were wrong, so of course they had no value. Did you expect a team to give a top prospect for Juan Uribe????
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ May 6, 2010 -> 10:08 PM) It's this simple, of our regular starting hitters and pitchers, the following are severely underachieving: Buehrle, Floyd, Peavy, Beckham, Quentin, AJP, Pierre, Ramirez Hard to win with so many key players struggling. If you have that many people struggle for such an extended period, it's just not your month/year. Stop making so much sense....
  7. QUOTE (Brian @ May 6, 2010 -> 10:03 PM) Watching the Hawks highlights, it seems like after every goal, Loungo starts complaining to refs. What does he want them to do? "Goddamnnit refs, I can't catch the puck and keep giving up these rebounds!!! Why can't you help me hold on to the puck so this big guy in the white jersey stops knocking the puck in the net!!!"
  8. In other news, the best team in the history of baseball was shut out by Brad Bergesen tonight.
  9. QUOTE (jphat007 @ May 6, 2010 -> 09:47 PM) Get Orlando Hudson. Get Matsui or Johnny Damon, Keep Pods instead of Pierre. Jim Thome. Those moves alone would make us a significantly better offense. Even better if you believe that hte other hitters would be better with good hitters around. And all of those moves were easily doable. EASILY. Pierre & Teahen do suck, but do those moves really keep Alexei/AJ/Beckham/TCQ from hitting under .220??? I doubt it, well, maybe they hit .240 or so. Either way, these main guys we are depending on are going through prolonged slumps of over a month, which keeps us from being any kind of offense. Our 3-4-5 guys are hitting, so its not like Hudson/Matsui/Thome would help these guys hit.
  10. QUOTE (Brian @ May 6, 2010 -> 11:26 AM) Danny proving he sucks again at challenges. I'd say "Stop going on the show." but would like to see him try and avenge Wes' betrayal. Kenny is just a beast. His partner did suck though. His partner did suck, but he just needs to go away forever anyway. I am enjoying this season, especially the way Kenny started as underdog and is just f***ing everyone up right now.
  11. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 6, 2010 -> 09:38 PM) Carlos is a straight up 1 year fluke. What a buster. I am starting to really believe this. If that is the case, then we are really f***ed, cause our whole seasons success depended on him as our top RBI producer.
  12. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 6, 2010 -> 03:19 PM) You don't have to win every game by 5+ runs to thoroughly outplay a team. I watched most of the last three games. And the Phillies pitched the s*** outta the ball. Anytime the Cards looked primed to score, a Philly pitcher made a big pitch. Yeah, Halladay vs Loshe was predictable. But was Kyle Kendrick throwing 7 innings of shutout ball last night predictable? Like I said earlier, Philly did outplay STL in game 3 & I did see that surprisingly Kendrick did pitch a hell of a game. But in game 1, Blanton got beaten by a rookie, and in game 2 Wainwright & Hamels battled into extra innings. Just saying that it was a close series that Philly won, by no means was it domination. They are the best team in the NL, but STL can hang with them.
  13. QUOTE (SHIPPS @ May 6, 2010 -> 03:10 PM) I caught the tail end of a conversation Mac and Speegs were having about someone being suspended that is a writer or radio host for being drunk on the job. I never got to hear who it was, does anyone know what they were talking about? Its in the May catch-all thread, I believe Harry Teinowitz was in the clubhouse after the game a bit on the tipsy side.
  14. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 6, 2010 -> 02:56 PM) The Phillies have really taken the Cardinals to school the last few games. They did win 3 of 4, but I don't know if I'd call it taking them to school. Monday STL won, Tuesday was a 10-inning pitchers duel, Wed. the Phillies did outplay them, but today was Halladay vs. Kyle freaking Lohse, a 7-2 PHI win was easily predictable.
  15. QUOTE (Nokona @ May 6, 2010 -> 02:14 PM) So some journalist got kicked out of the clubhouse the other night? Any ideas who it was? I heard that on B & B as well, that someone wth credentials was a little too drinky in the clubhouse...
  16. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 6, 2010 -> 10:26 AM) I'd seriously make chicks sign Letters of Consent with an attorney present if I were a celebrity/well-known person before I banged them. Another money grab. http://www.comedycentral.com/videos/index....e=love-contract
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 6, 2010 -> 08:10 AM) For a moment, I read the thread title and thought "Why is the Giants 3b caring so much about the White Sox". If it was Pablo, he'd probably get more people to listen and agree with him. Are you gonna argue with a man that large???
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 5, 2010 -> 03:43 PM) And you believe in Rafael Soriano more? Um, yeah, the guy is filthy. Look at the numbers too, since 2005 his highest ERA was 3.00 and he averages over a K per inning.
