  1. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 07:30 AM) Its Phil Rogers, but, I couldn't not post it. Enjoy. If the Sox can actually manage to get back above .500 and in the race, then you can add Fielder to the A-Gon/Berkman/??? talks for the Sox. Of course, they still have a ways to go before they are even really in it again. Thanks for the warning. Thread closed.
  2. Now it sounds like game 1 will be Saturday. Ugh, just wanna be able to plan the weekend already. Official schedule will come out after game 7 tonight. According to Jesse Rogers, Byfuglien was skating with the forwards at practice today on a line with Brouwer & Madden and was camped out in front of the net on power play drills. I'm sure Luongo will look forward to having big Buff blocking his views.
  3. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 04:04 PM) Brett Anderson, Jorge de la rosa and Nelson Cruz all to the DL. Perfect Timing!
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 03:48 PM) Humberto Quintero. Just kidding. I'll go with Frank Francisco and Chris B. Young or Ryan Sweeney. Because Francisco makes our pen that much better, and Sweeney/Young don't soak up all of Rios' contract dollars. I like it. Lets get the guy with the 7.88 ERA & 1.88 WHIP who already lost his closers role and was on the DL 3 times last year. He can throw a chair with the best of them too.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 02:25 PM) Lefties have a .734 OPS against him this year (and not because they're hitting the ball, mainly because of a couple walks) and had a .549 OPS against him last year. It's not his fault if he's there to get LHP out and he does that but you insist on having him face RHP. 12 walks in 9.1 IP is inexcusable whoever you are pitching to. Five of those are vs. LHB too, including the great 4- pitch bases loaded debacle vs. Adam Lind.
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 02:17 PM) Minnie got Crede for pennies and didn't lose anything by having him there til his back told him he truly was finished. Garland has still been a serviceable pitcher. He started Opening Day this year. And I guess if Dye wasn't going to sign for cheap, it was OK to let him go, but if he was willing to stay for cheap, yes I'd have kept him too. So did Vincente Padilla, Jake Westbrook, and John Lannan. I'm happy for them too, but I still don't want them anywhere near the Sox.
  7. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 01:52 PM) Judge throws out arrest of cop accused in fatal DUI crash The same judge from this case. Unreal. http://www.chicagobreakingnews.com/2009/04...ce-verdict.html I don't exactly understand what happened here. The supervising lieutenant said that guy looked drunk a few hours later, but he is called an unreaible witness? While the officers under him said they guy was sober, and of course they are the ones honestly telling the truth? Justice at its finest. If the two kids had been driving drunk and killed the cop, they would have already gotten 30 years.
  8. QUOTE (bschmaranz @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 12:33 PM) You woulda thought they'd learned their lesson when they gave Thome all that money. Really isn't Howard the same type of player? Sweet, maybe KW will trade for him in 2015!
  9. Why Ryan Howard Is More Expensive Than Mark Teixeira I thought this was a good breakdown of why the Phillies had to overpay and what it means for other teams, and how it actually helps the Yankees.
  10. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 12:29 PM) Well, we got what, a 5th round pick for him? What linebacker would we trade? I'm guessing Jamar Williams
  11. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 11:28 AM) For all you haters, I'd like to point out that we went 3-0 with Campbell back. He's still overpaid, but he has shown that he is a valuable part of the team. I wonder if Q will stick with Bickell in the lineup, he seemed to played pretty well(playing on a line with Kane/Toews makes it easier). Vancouver seems to be a bigger, more physical team, so I don't know if he'd wanna bring back the 4th line bangers, Fraser or Eager. Still nothing new on Johnsson.
  12. QUOTE (smalls2598 @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 11:25 AM) What is the approximate date the next round starts? I know the Capitals/Canadians and Red Wings/Coyotes have to finish their game 7's, but what can we expect? A Saturday or Sunday start? This morning on the Score, the update lady said that Game 1 would be Friday. I don't think that's official yet though.
  13. We met through mutual friends the night before game 1 of the World Series and hit it off right away. She's a Cubs fan, but she hung out and put up with all my drunken celebratory antics for the next week, and now we've been married over a year.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 09:34 AM) Unfortunately...this is a problem in basically every urban area. There just isn't the money in those systems to fix them. Definitely. Just seems like in the city, the "top" schools get better & better, while the other schools just keep falling apart. I do realize that its not all the city's fault either, the parents or lack there of tend to affect it largely as well.
  15. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 09:33 AM) I don't think the crime rate is about to get a whole lot worse. I'd guess its near a level at this point. Interesting related topic - have you seen the recent debate about what to do about the rising crime (which I agree is a serious problem)? You've got some state reps wanting to bring in the National Guard. Then Daley wants more gun laws. I think they're both stupid ideas that will only cause more problems. I don't completely understand how the Natural Guard would help. Are they gonna be marching every single street 24-7? A lot of the killings going on aren't fierce firefights in the street. A kid runs up to someone's car, shoots some bullets at him, then runs away. How are soldiers in the street gonna stop that?
  16. The whole Chicago public school system is still a gigantic mess, and it doesn't seem as Daley has helped it very much. He has helped lower the urban flight, but it still is a problem due to the lack of quality education in the city.
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 26, 2010 -> 03:24 PM) Ummm, winning a 2009 ALCD championship ring, perhaps? He also won one with us in 2008. We signed him for a year as a stop-gap. He left to Oakland, got traded at mid-season to Minnesota, didn't really perform all that better there than he did here. No one was clamoring for the return of O-Cab in 2009.
  18. Hawks Win!!! What a funny game that was, 7 goals in the 1st 20, then basically none for the last 40 minutes. That series was tougher than I hoped it would be, but way to pull it out. Vancouver should be a real tough series, especially after last spring's battle. They are a very physical team. The biggest thing the Hawks need to do is remind Luongo of game 6 last year, if they can get in his head and make him struggle, they should pull it out. I heard this morning that Game 1 is Friday night, can't wait! How about that Jaroslav Halak last night? I watched the 1st & 2nd periods of that game, wow. One more performance like that, and they will give him the key to the city of Montreal.
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 26, 2010 -> 02:51 PM) You're not getting it. Things didn't click with Matt in SEA. Nice guy, great attitude, easy repeatable, stress free delivery and 60+ arm, no control. One session with Cooper, he's nails. Sometimes the change of scenery works wonders. All of the players I listed....VERY FEW posters were super upset they were leaving (Swisher, maybe...from a talent lost perspective, but he simply had to go)....all those guys had success after leaving for various reasons. Point is, KW is not always right. But 75% isn't bad. Joe Crede played 90 games after leaving Chicago and is out of baseball this season. Mike MacDougal did save 20 games for the Nats last season, and he impressed so many people that hes not in the majors this year either. What has Orlando Cabrera done since 08 that he didn't do here?
  20. He's already 30 years old?? Paying him $25 mil when he's 34-36 is probably not gonna work out all that well.
  21. Ryan Howard reportedly signs an extension with the Phillies.
  22. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 26, 2010 -> 11:11 AM) We have a long history with Wilson (and also Padilla, although he's gone now finally)...he made quite a few comments that really got the White Sox riled up when he was in their bullpen. What did he say exactly? Maybe it was somehow connected to the Sean Tracey incident, or a separate one? IIRC, Wilson was the closer and he came in a 4-run game, the Sox cut the lead to a run and had runners on. He struck someone out to end it, and started yelling at Ozzie or something like that, acting like a bad-ass, even though he almost blew it. I do remember them showing up to the South Side a few weeks later, and TCQ hit a 3-run bomb off him in the 8th to win a game.
  23. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 26, 2010 -> 09:42 AM) The Raiders! Back to being somewhat competitive. and somewhat competent
