Let's make the AL West our b****, and head into Yankee Stadium back at .500! -
QUOTE (DBAHO @ Apr 26, 2010 -> 09:04 AM) Hate to think where the White Sox would be right now without John Danks. KW's been criticized a lot for some moves that he's made, I think you can argue that selling high on B-Mac and getting back Danks could be his best ever move as a GM. Probably 6-13 without Danksy. The B-Mac for Danks/Masset deal was absolute gem by KW. And I remember being so pissed off when it happened, thinking that B-Mac was gonna be awesome.

So far in this series, Hjalmarsson is +6, while Keith is -5. Just found that interesting. -

HAWKS WIN! HAWKS WIN THE STANLEY CUP!!
LittleHurt05 replied to southsider2k5's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Canucks knock out the Kings, Luongo makes the save of the playoffs on his back in the 2nd. If/When the Hawks pull this out, it will be a rematch of last year's semifinals. Just end the series tonight Hawks, I don't want to have to go the UC Wednesday night. -
It was interesting to see where fantasy sports started, although I could have done without all of the weird re-enactments. The Ricky Williams episode is coming this week, should be entertaining.

QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Apr 25, 2010 -> 03:18 PM) Biden was a regular Amtrak commuter as Senator, and apparently the day that he got the nod for the VP position, he took the Amtrak in and it kinda made it hell for commuters. Beyond security, flying the President and the VP around has got to be among the least disruptive ways to move them around securely. Just like when I was in Vegas and had to sit on the runway for two hours because GWB & Air Force One were flying out of there. -
QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 25, 2010 -> 05:16 PM) Vazquez continues to suck. No surprise. We get to face him this weekend.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Apr 24, 2010 -> 10:29 PM) The Thunder are absolutely destroying the Lakers right now. Looks like we have a series. That OKC crowd is something else too, reminds me of a college crowd.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 23, 2010 -> 05:26 PM) This is the 1st season since 1985 that there has not been one weather postponement this late in the season. Crazy. ***looks up at sky in Chicago, knocks on wood*** Of course the day I post this, there's a rainout in Colorado.

QUOTE (dpd9189 @ Apr 25, 2010 -> 02:23 PM) The Brewers pitching is terrible. Jeff Suppan's 4 year, $42 million contract = highway robbery. Brewers just took him out of the rotation.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 23, 2010 -> 01:56 PM) Lead off double by Rios, Teahen works the count and get's on base, Q scores them on a gapper to center. It's not a ridiculious notion, and remember Rios is only really going to leadoff once per game. After that, it's just a manner of getting the best players the most at-bats. He's hitting .167, I don't know how often thats gonna happen. -
What a disaster this rotating DH NL lineup idea is...
LittleHurt05 replied to Steve9347's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (scotty22hotty @ Apr 23, 2010 -> 12:19 PM) KW could have easily signed any of these guys.... BA/OBP/SLG DH Matsui .302/.380/.587 DH Damon .327/.431/.400 DH Vlad .327/.367/.418 also Podsednik .449/.526/.469 Though its also sad when our best hitter(maybe top 3) is making 500k a year and is playing DH w/ 10 gold gloves. Did he have the $6-8 million that each of those 3 guys cost? -
HAWKS WIN! HAWKS WIN THE STANLEY CUP!!
LittleHurt05 replied to southsider2k5's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Niemi No-No!!!!! Home ice advantage is the Hawks again, right back in control. Can't really work today, just ready to head to the UC in 24 hours. Sopel is bad at hockey. Period. However, I will say that there is one thing he is really good at it and he has been doing it well all series. Sacrificing his body to block pucks. I think he leads the team in blocked shots so far and hes constantly diving all over the place. Keep it up Sopel, the Cup erases all pain. -

QUOTE (docsox24 @ Apr 23, 2010 -> 11:34 AM) I was amazed how many people on this site bought into the stupid rotating DH idea in the off season and into Pierre being a productive player. I am glad to see you guys coming around. I still don't think the Peavy trade was bad though. It was a risk worth taking and KW didn't give up anybody I remotely cared about. The rotating DH idea is not stupid and can work well. The problem is having Kotsay & the 2010 versions of Vizquel & Jones (still not sold he'll keep it up) in that position. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 08:31 PM) There was no way Deng was set. LeBron got the shaft. So much for the "NBA Superstars get every foul call" myth.

QUOTE (sircaffey @ Apr 23, 2010 -> 12:11 AM) Not to mention Dempster has already failed as a RP, and Zambrano is the only SP with reliever stuff. In 06 he definitely sucked it up, but in 05 he was 33 for 35 in saves, and in 07 he was 28 for 31. I don't know if I would call that a failure.

QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 23, 2010 -> 10:41 AM) Well, last year's game in Champaign drew over 60k. But, yeah at NW they only drew 32k. That's the reason why Illinois refused to give up their own home game for it, cause it wouldn't make financial sense for them. -

QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 23, 2010 -> 10:24 AM) How? Illinois and Northwestern's stadiums are both MUCH larger than Wrigley. Last time Illinois played in Evanston in 2008, the attendance was 32,166. I guarantee Wrigley sells out, which is already 8k more fans. Not to mention all the possible advertising, memorabilia and all that good stuff. -
