  1. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Apr 23, 2010 -> 09:39 AM) Why can't more games just be on CSN? I don't get CSN+ or CSN+2 or WCIU and I feel over 50% of the games have been on those channels already! Bulls & Blackhawks playoff games take precedent over April baseball???
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 23, 2010 -> 09:17 AM) You're arguing that Donny Lucy is part of the solution. Whats with people and their infatuation with backup catchers? AJP plays 140 games, the backup is insignificant in the end. Its like when Toby Hall was injured in ST, and board almost crashed cause everyone thought the season was over.
  3. Jay Cutler or the triple headed monster of Orton/Quinn/Tebow?????
  4. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Apr 23, 2010 -> 08:19 AM) I also wonder if Peavy still "doesn't want to be here". I still won't forget him turning down a trade to the White Sox. Yea Yea he changed his mind, but I still consider him a mercenary, a hired gun...maybe his heart isn't in it. I don't know, but the guy looks like AAA fodder at this point, from a guy who was supposedly one of the most dominant righties in baseball. What a crock...the guy is pitching worse than Carlos Silva. With the money he makes that's disgusting. Peavy is only making $2.25 million more than Silva this year...
  5. An Australian playing baseball? I don't even know what to say anymore. Just please, hit the f***ing ball Sox!
  6. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 02:29 PM) Illinois will play Northwestern at Wrigley Field this year. Northwestern is giving up a home game to do this. Sweet, I'm excited for this. Seeing all the old videos of the Bears playing there are cool, should be interesting. Makes sense for NW, its not like they sell out at home anyway, even with the extra Illini fans. They will probably make more money this way.
  7. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Apr 23, 2010 -> 12:06 AM) http://www.beyondtheboxscore.com/2008/4/18...g-with-cc-sabat Oh, wrong Cy Young winner in his first four starts of a season,...nevermind... That was also a free-agent to be on a team that was 50-50 on making a playoff run anyway. The Sox had to be cheap when it came to adding offense this offseason, because they traded for this guy and his ginormous contract. If he doesn't start pitching better soon, its gonna be trouble.
  8. QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 05:35 PM) You act like Illinois is some big consistent national powerhouse program that should pick their schedule as they please and get whatever they want. Jaded City, population 1. Indiana wasn't too big to do home and away with us in the past. Never heard anything about a game being close to being scheduled and I follow things with SIU pretty close. I agree. Weber is just being a p**** about it, but I don't necessarily blame him. Being the larger in-state school, he is "supposed" to win those games, so they don't stand much to gain from them. Thats probably why they only played UIC & ISU(almost lost) at the United Center. s***, they got to play Bradley in a neutral-site tournament this year, and look how well that went. If only Brian Randle could have hit some f***ing free throws 3 years ago, we could have had a #4 SIU vs. #12 UI matchup in the NCAAs.
  9. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 23, 2010 -> 12:41 AM) Justin Smoak called up to the show for Texas. Chris Davis sent down. Posted his stats and such on our minor league board. f*** you Chris Davis. Just stay in the minors and strike out 4 times a day down there and finally quit killing my fantasy teams. Good to see the Rangers not worrying about the service time clock and doing whats best for the team and calling Smoak up in April.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 10:43 AM) They have to look for offense at this point. They are getting nothing right now. The changes could add a little energy to the offense, but in the end its all gonna come down to the stars, Toews, Kane, Hossa & Co. If those guys make the plays like they did all year, they will be able to turn this series around.
  11. The Cubs early season schedule is so easy, I think they freaked out that if they fall far back of STL now, theres no chance to come back when it gets tough. After the opening series vs. the Braves, they don't play another team with serious playoff aspirations until May 17. Seriously, unless Cy Silva battles Lincecum & Roy for the award and Gorzelanny becomes at least Ted Lilly 2, this is such a dumb move. Thats even if Z becomes the best set up guy in the league.
  12. SIU to play in Champaign November 2010. No return game scheduled
  13. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 07:31 AM) LOL, love the opening post. Trying to keep some sanity here, consider this. If the Sox win tonight, they will have won the series against what was, going into it, the hottest team in baseball. Go. f***ing. Sox. I like it. Getting outscored 15-7 or so in the series won't matter, winning 2 of 3 is what counts. Do this s*** JFP
  14. Sharks, Canucks, & Red Wings all pull out "must-win" Game 4's (two on the road), here's to the Hawks doing the mother-f***ing same thing!
  15. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Apr 21, 2010 -> 04:06 PM) By average annual value: 1 Mariano Rivera, $15,000,000 2 Brad Lidge, $12,500,000 3 Francisco Rodriguez, $12,333,333 4 Joe Nathan, $11,750,000 5 Francisco Cordero, $11,500,000 Those are all closers too. Z is gonna be an $18 million set up guy. We have the best set up guy in the league, Thontons gonna be able to hold out for over $20 milion
  16. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 21, 2010 -> 03:31 PM) Well their manager won't be back in 2011, and I think there's a distinct chance their GM won't be either. We'll probably be stuck with both of ours though still. Does that mean, *shudders*, that the Cubs are actually a step ahead of us? You can't be a step ahead of anyone when you have Soriano's contract on your books for the next several years.
  17. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 21, 2010 -> 02:30 PM) If they lose this series and fire Q, I wouldn't shed a tear. I don't think that's going to happen, but if Q is really just a coach that can get you to a certain point and that's it like his resume suggests, a change isn't a bad idea. Thats funny cause Q was hired in the first place because Savard could only take them to a certain point, and Q was supposed bring them to the next level.
  18. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 21, 2010 -> 03:03 PM) Bullpen 'help' looks to be on the way in the name of Braden Looper. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...sp&c_id=chc LOL. He actually was a pretty servicable reliever for a while and a short-term closer, but that was 5 years ago and he's now 35.
  19. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 21, 2010 -> 02:28 PM) He hasn't been proven innocent, not even close. There just wasn't enough there to prove without a reasonable doubt that he was guilty, and there is a big difference between the two. Such a scenario keeps him out of jail, but doesn't automatically excuse him from the wrath of his employer. Anyways, the time between now and the top 10 picks of the draft tomorrow night is certainly very intriguing with this news, even moreso than it already was. I don't doubt the guy is a big dirtbag, and the NFL can suspend whoever they want whenever they feel like it. I just find it funny that Goddell said it was simply based on "allegations", which never led to Big Ben being charged with a crime or even arrested.
  20. QUOTE (WCSox @ Apr 21, 2010 -> 01:22 PM) Shuffling the lineup will make a marginal difference at best. The Sox won't begin scoring "a lot more runs" until the latter three in your lineup start hitting. This. All these new lineups still have Beckham (.222) & TCQ (.191) right in the middle of them. Until those guys start hitting, the lineup order isn't gotta matter. AJP & Pierre need to get over the Mendoza line as well.
  21. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 21, 2010 -> 12:53 PM) Roethlisberger suspended 6 games with the chance to reduce it to 4 games. "Guilty even if proven innocent"
