  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 21, 2010 -> 11:59 AM) Wear a sox hat. and we have a winner....
  2. QUOTE (LZPride08 @ Apr 21, 2010 -> 03:35 AM) I got a chance to go to the game, and the crowd went pretty wild, they had some real loud chants and were behind the Predators the whole game... It wasn't sold out though which blows my mind ( it was about 90% full). The one time the Hawks made the playoffs at the beginning of the decade, the playoff games didn't sell out either, it happens.
  3. QUOTE (JDsDirtySox @ Apr 20, 2010 -> 01:58 PM) It is Edison Volquez of the Reds Probably trying to hasten recovery from the Tommy John. Or he was jealous of all the attention his trading partner Hamilton got from drugs, he decided to partake as well?
  4. Please, please, please, please be Carlos Zambrano.....
  5. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Apr 20, 2010 -> 12:38 PM) MLB won't let Rays manager wear hoodie during game Seems pretty silly. Yeah it is. Reminds of when Del Rio & Nolan wanted to wear suits on the sidelines in the NFL, but the league said no, you have to wear our sponsored clothes with your team name/logo on them.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 20, 2010 -> 09:21 AM) I happily have the data readily available. Worth noting is that this year has had considerably better weather than previous years. That probably means 2 things; first, more people have been able to go out to games, and second...there have been more games earlier in the year due to fewer rain/snow-outs (which probably actually help overall attendance by pushing more games into the summer months). Thanks for the info, interesting stuff. Its funny how one team's new ballpark can change how the overall numbers look. I know the Twins had sold nearly 3 million tickets before the season even started and are on pace for an 81-game season sellout this year. Other than your main top teams like BOS, NYY, CHC, STL, etc. it looks like overall attendance is definitely struggling. For a team like Toronto or Baltimore with no chance to make the playoffs, its easy to see why the fans would stay home.
  7. I don't know how overall attendance figures are looking so far, but I've seen that the Blue Jays, Nationals, & Orioles have already had record low attendace days for their parks, including under 10k for a game at Camden Yards.
  8. QUOTE (zenryan @ Apr 20, 2010 -> 08:40 AM) I think this goes for the entire league. Maybe it's because tickets have become so expensive that the more hardcore fans cant afford to get low level playoff tickets. I remember going to Magic games back in the Shaq and Penny days and the atmosphere would be insane for games in December. I have friends who go to Florida Gator football games (trust me, its loud at those games) and they say the loudest noise they've ever experienced was when Nick Anderson stole the ball from Jordan back in the 1995 playoffs. Just seems like these days fans at basketball games dont know how to get loud. I blame the thundersticks. I agree with that. A few crowds are still pretty good, though. Jazz fans still seem to get as into as they always have, Warriors fans helped them beat Nowitzki & co. a few years ago, Simmons always mentions the Blazers crowds this year. But for the most part, yeah, NBA crowds definitely have lost some edge and have no idea when/why to cheer.
  9. Tampa's won 7 in a row on the road, with a 4 game sweep at Fenway??? This is baseball, they can't keep winning forever. Sox win 2 of 3!
  10. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Apr 19, 2010 -> 12:52 PM) Sure but do you think that the follwoing year people are going to pay the prices they are asking. Eventually the novelty will wear off. They are still paying the prices this year after last season. Unless all of the Wrigleyville bars suddenly close, I don't see the novelty suddenly wearing off any time soon.
  11. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 19, 2010 -> 12:30 PM) I believe the Twins to be the best team in baseball. I think there's two teams in the AL East that are easily better than the Twins.
  12. QUOTE (zenryan @ Apr 19, 2010 -> 03:35 AM) 20 playoff games. 13 one-goal games. (2 games that werent decided by 1 goal had empty netters. So 15 games have been 1 goal games going into the final 2 minutes or less.) 8 overtime games. This NHL postseason has made me not give two s***s about whats going on in the NBA. Not to mention that all 8 series started out with the teams splitting the 1st two games. I had predicted in the NHL thread that there was no way the Sharks choke this time, but yet they are 30 seconds away from being down 3-0. They can obviously still win the series, but its gotta be getting to their heads now, especially after the own goal. Good to see the Hawks get back in the win column last night. Niemi had a great game, glad that horrible game 1 goal didn't get to his head. As long him and the D don't make any more big f***-ups, I don't see Nashville scoring enough to win the series.
  13. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 02:34 PM) they've got some decent starting pitching in KC, but the bullpen is miserable Juan Cruz used to actually be pretty decent. And what happened to the Farnsworth to the starting rotation experiment?? I was looking forward to watching that one go down.
  14. I remember last year Ozzie bought one of the "Ozzie mows Wrigley Field" t-shirts and wore it around the clubhouse. He told the media something like " I may mow lawns, but I'm not the one standing outside in the rain selling t-shirts"
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 12, 2010 -> 08:48 PM) As I learned, they reseed after each round, so if SJ wins their opening series, we get the second lowest remaining seed. When it comes to the Sharks in the playoffs, you can never assume victory, but I would think they would handle Colorado. Last year, Anaheim was experienced and better than your normal 8 seed. The Avalanche have been struggling and their goalie seems to have worn down as well. That would leave the Hawks with Vancouver if they win, or the winner of PHX/DET if the Kings were to pull the upset. If somehow the Sharks were to blow it again, Hawks would get Colorado.
  16. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Apr 12, 2010 -> 08:25 AM) I did not see last nights game, but when he's healthy he has been pretty awesome the last several seasons. I don't know if Wainwright can keep it up. Has anybody ever won 3 CYs in a row? Maddux & the Big Unit both win 4 in a row, I believe
  17. QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Apr 11, 2010 -> 03:31 PM) http://www.youtube.com/watch#!v=ETA3R9...feature=related I hope mascots don't have the same drug testing that players do. Watching that video, I'm not sure if Southpaw would pass.
