  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 7, 2010 -> 03:17 PM) I guess that means they kept Peppers away from Pippen... It doesn't say anywhere whether or not he tipped the servers
  2. I can't believe the Illini got screwed by the refs AGAIN Good to see that 3 of the top 6 finalists for the Cousy award are from the Chicago area and were unsuccessfully recruited by Bruce Weber. If Weber can't turn it around next year, hopefully Billy Gillespie will want to come back to Champaign after he takes ISU to the sweet 16 next year. Oh, and Steve Lavin is a tough listen, ugh.

  4. Nice going Jerry, now get us some offensive line help and a safety and the NFC North could be quite a dogfight next year. I really like the Taylor signing. Last year Forte proved he needs some help carrying the ball and hes not the superstar he was proclaimed to be his rookie year. The Peppers signing could end up blowing up in the Bears face, but I think its the risky move they needed to take.
  5. Its been six years since I've actually had spring break, but I am going to Vegas next weekend and Cabo in a month...
  6. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 5, 2010 -> 09:26 AM) Yikes, Nate Burleson for 25 Mil to the Lions, 11 mil guaranteed Might be a bit pricey, but Burleson's a pretty decent receiver, a very solid #2. He should help get more open looks for Megatron and help out young Stafford. Now the fact that the Lions probably had way more glaring needs other than WR is another story.
  7. Wow. Angelo must have had the McCaskeys kidnapped and stolen their checkbook
  8. Its official, Bears sign Manumaleuna http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/...anumaleuna.html
  9. QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 4, 2010 -> 07:54 PM) The problem with the NFL is that today's high-priced free agent "studs" turn into overpaid old guys within only a few years. At least in the NFL you can cut him at that point. In sports like MLB or the NBA, you are stuck with that contract for its duration and it can cripple franchises for years.
  10. QUOTE (Cali @ Mar 4, 2010 -> 03:04 PM) I know this has probably been addressed before, but what is up with the Opening Day followed by off day followed by the final 2 games of the series. No other 3 game set ever uses this schedule. The fans get all amped up then they have to wait for game 2. Seems f***ed up. Also seems like it would throw off the players too... In case of a rainout on Opening Day (see 2009), it allows for the team to have their big-ticket opening day the following afternoon.
  11. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Mar 4, 2010 -> 02:52 PM) They still have nothing on this guy That's ridiculous. For all the radiation poisoning, sickness, and what not he suffered, its pretty impressive that he lived to 93 and his wife to 88.
  12. Milton Bradley finds the true reason he played badly last year. http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/mlb/news/story?id=4965307
  13. QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Mar 4, 2010 -> 11:22 AM) I don't post very often, and I realize what I'm going to propose could be ridiculous, but here goes. What about building a package around Quentin for Gonzalez? Does that make any sense? From our point of view, it seems like its a lot easier to find a corner outfielder than a LH all-star 1B.... thoughts? If SD would take a TCQ for A-Gon deal, I would pack his bags and drive him to O'Hare. I just dont see the Padres wanting that though, especially since he will have to be paid sooner than a younger prospect and given his injury history.
  14. It doesn't get more credible than Mike North. Maybe he can help the new NFL team find a trusting financial partner.
  15. For everything that Q has done right, he does have a pretty tough situation on his hands here. Personally, I would like to see him give Huet a s***load of starts in a row and see if he can get it going. I have no idea what the future holds for Niemi, but I think this season Huet at his best >> Niemi's best. However, the downside of that is bad Huet
  16. Instead of picking the lesser of two evils with Williams & Threets, can't we sign a vet like Joe Beimel?? If hes still a FA, he cant be too expensive, and he surely will be better than the other two.
  17. QUOTE (The Critic @ Mar 3, 2010 -> 12:29 PM) Yeah, I don't care about Rios compared to Rowand. All I was saying is Rowand was not the superstar some fans' revisionist history makes him out to be. Rios isn't a bargain, but Rowand at SF money would have been wasted money as well. Thank you for speaking the truth
  18. Great, instead of hearing Who You Crappin, I get to listen for a Brent Lillibridge groundout or Daniel Cabrera walk. I do really miss White Sox baseball but I can only listen to a spring training game on the radio for a couple minutes before I have to change the channel. Especially when the regulars arent playing at all.
  19. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 2, 2010 -> 10:56 AM) My brothers a cop. My brother in law is a cop. His father is a cop. His fathers father was a cop. My friends father was a cop. My neighbors are all cops. Friends are cops. Did this remind anyone else of Marisa Tomei's courtroom scene in My Cousin Vinny?
  20. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 2, 2010 -> 03:24 PM) Either him or Danys Baez. Wow, Danys Baez made $7.16 million with the Orioles last season. A 6.44 ERA in 07, zero innings in 08, and a 4.02 ERA in 09, all for $19 million. Now thats bad bullpen money, probably worse than our Linebrink deal.
  21. QUOTE (Cali @ Mar 2, 2010 -> 01:39 PM) So who are everyone's nominees for the annual ANDERSON-FIELDS AWARD? It's for the position player who hits around .500 in Spring but it doesn't translate to the regular season. Named after the 2 former Sox players who did it year in and year out. Also there is the DANNY WRIGHT AWARD, for the pitcher who's mechanics looks clean and pitches awesome, followed by forgetting about all of that come April. And finally the PABLO OZUNA AWARD, for the player that comes out of nowhere, hit's .500, makes the teams and actually contributes to the big league team... ANDERSON-FIELDS AWARD? Andruw Jones DANNY WRIGHT AWARD Jhonny Nunez PABLO OZUNA AWARD, Alejandro de Aza
  22. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Mar 2, 2010 -> 08:13 AM) I want him at Texas Tech, but the only comments I seem to get are "yeah go find him in the drunk tank and hire him." It's ok to choke players and be a douchebag as a head coach, but don't drink too much. LOL, I'm a big fan of the Gillespie boozy jokes, but I definitely think he would be a good hire at a lot of schools. If Bruce doesnt right the ship, wouldnt mind seeing him back in Champaign.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 2, 2010 -> 02:09 PM) Being a Sox fan, I will never think that way. We led ourselves to believe the samething after 2000 and 2005. It might not be true, but you never know. Totally, as bright as the future looks, you can never take a title chance for granted. Especially when you have the longest Cup drought in the league, 49 years. I think Bowman & Co. definitely realize it and doing what they can to get it this year.
  24. Great start to the Daniel Cabrera era!
  25. Which Dodger does Cowley keep calling Snoop Dogg?
