QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 2, 2010 -> 11:10 AM) They are in full on rebuild mode and have cap space. If they can get prospects for taking on contracts, they will do it. Gotcha. Well then get it done Bowman. Getting rid of Huet would be good enough, but adding Vokoun on top of that would just be outstanding. I'm excited for tomorrow, somethings gonna go down for sure. -
4 of the names on that failure list were the #1 starter and the top 3 relievers on a World Series Champion. LOL

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 2, 2010 -> 10:56 AM) Rumor: Huet + to Toronto for D Finger (PoS), with supplemental deal for Vokoun to follow. This is all according to Jesse Rogers. Why would the Leafs trade for Huet if they just traded for JS Giguere? I think Giguere is signed next season for $7 million -
QUOTE (hogan873 @ Mar 2, 2010 -> 09:16 AM) After reading some stuff on the ideas being floated on MLB realignment, I wondered what everyone here on ST thinks. What would be your ideas in realigning the teams? Have fun with it. My plan would take three years to implement. For the first year, the Twins are moved to the AL West, and the Brewers are moved to the AL Central. Now each league has 30 teams. For the second year, the Rays are moved from Tampa to another city (in my future it's Las Vegas). They move to the AL West. The third year is the radical realignment. Both leagues adopt the DH since several teams would be switching leagues. In the end, it looks like this: AL North - Twins, Blue Jays, Red Sox, Tigers, Mariners AL Atlantic - Yankees, Mets, Phillies, Orioles, Nationals AL Pacific - Padres, Giants, A's, Dodgers, Angels NL Central - Pirates, Cardinals, Royals, Las Vegas (Rays), Rockies NL South - Astros, Rangers, D-Backs, Braves, Marlins NL Great Lakes - White Sox, Cubs, Brewers, Indians, Reds I don't think the Cubs/Sox & Yankees/Mets being the same division will make many people happy. I honestly don't see much of a need for realignment right now, I think the divisions are set up fine now. If you were willing to play at least one interleague series at all times of the season, you can throw the Astros into the AL West and even out the leagues at 15.

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Mar 1, 2010 -> 12:21 PM) I don't know if they can market the stars. They aren't on the ice enough to really market them plus they are wearing helmets and there is very little opportunity to get face shots of them. It's probably better that way. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 1, 2010 -> 08:03 AM) So will we see a Vokoun move now that we are fee again? Just saw this on the Twitter of one of the TSN columnists, Darren Dreger. A few Vokoun rumours as we gear up for the trade deadline. Lots of Panthers available, but it doesn't sound like he's one of them. 4:31 PM Feb 27th via mobile web I'm excited for March 3, always a lot of action goes down, even better when the Hawks are heavily involved. -

QUOTE (3E8 @ Feb 28, 2010 -> 11:19 PM) I see where he's coming from. This would be more difficult to happen in the WBC, but if say team Venezuela had 3 White Sox on it and no White Sox on team USA, then I would root for Venezuela I find this extremely fascinating, but to each their own. If you wanna root against your own country, then go for it, although it only seems like that happens in the US, nowhere else. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 27, 2010 -> 06:35 PM) So Evan Turner hinted again today that he may come back for his senior season, as much as it would be awesome, he's got to go pro, its in his best interest. If Mark Titus had another year of eligibilty, Turner would be a lock to stay, but without him there, whats the point? -

QUOTE (Felix @ Feb 27, 2010 -> 05:04 PM) Gophers > you You are correct sir. Thats 2 out of 3 now for the Gophers after 20 in a row the other way. Why the f*** did Brandon Paul give Jordan the ball with 7 seconds left? I know McCamey fouled out but with 7 seconds left you dont need a point guard to get you a shot, you need someone that can create their own shot, like BP3 or DJ. As soon as Jordan was dribbling up the court, you know they werent gonna score. They lost the game cause of millions of other reasons, but that still pissed me off. Weber's recruting was his main problem the last few years, but he finally has some talent now and cant get them to play consistently whatsoever. With the returning talent and incoming freshmen, I'll give him next year, but if they arent a top 20 team or so all season, it might be time to get someone else in there. -

Did Bruce Weber miss Gene Keady's lesson on scoring against a zone? Everytime they face one, they seem to horribly struggle. Even if they win today, any committe member who watched Tuesday or today can't possibly think this a NCAA tourney team, ugh. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 27, 2010 -> 12:42 PM) Damn, my cousin is studying abroad in Chile, but I think she was spending the weekend far down south where theres penguins or whatever so she probably avoided the brunt of the quake. Looking at all the of the bridge damage, looks like its gonna be tough getting around far distances down there. She is far down south and is OK, but said Santiago was pretty beat up

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Feb 26, 2010 -> 02:43 PM) So it looks like (though we still have 2 periods to play) it's gonna a Blackhawk (Kane) against at LEAST 2 Blackhawks for the gold. (Hossa/Kopecky or Keith/Seabrook/Toews) Gonna be fun to watch. So thats at least 3 players that probably wont be playing Tuesday against the Islanders. For all the b****ing about how uneven the womens hockey is, two of the last 4 mens games have been lopsided and over in the 1st period too -

QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 26, 2010 -> 03:22 AM) Boy oh boy has Indiana fallen. I hope the one NCAA tourney win from Kelvin Sampson was worth it. But, hey, they've gone from 1 conf. win in 11th place last year to 3 wins and T-9th place this year...movin' on up!! -

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 25, 2010 -> 09:00 AM) MB on the retirement debate, again Ugh, can they just stop talking about this? We all know the drill, he may retire early or play a year in STL, blah blah blah. He still has two more years on this contract here, and hes not even sure what he will actually decide then. Lets stick to present-day baseball please.

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Feb 25, 2010 -> 09:00 AM) All ofthe bruhaha about the US Canada game from Sunday is now meaningless as they will most likely meet again this Sunday. I hope Ryan Miller is ready to go and the US figures out how to get the power play going. Not sure if it is good or bad that all of Hawks are still in this thing. Considering they are guaranteed to play Saturday or Sunday, and then have a back-to-back on Tuesday (in Long Island) & Wednesday, I'd say it can't be a good thing. But hey, I've really enjoyed having NHL players in the Olympics, so what are you gonna do? -
QUOTE (hogan873 @ Feb 25, 2010 -> 08:06 AM) I'll add some numbers to my predictions: AVG - Beckham (.309) HR - Quentin (37) RBI - Quentin (111) SB - Pierre (42) Wins - Danks (21) K's - Peavy (195) 2B - Pierre (43) 3B - Beckham (6) BB - Quentin (lots) HBP - Quentin (many until he does his Hulk impression, rips his shirt off and charges the mound) Hits - Konerko (199) Saves - Jenks (40) Holds - Putz (37) Ejections - Ozzie (9) Nothing like a 34 year old topping his career best hits total by 22

QUOTE (supernuke @ Feb 24, 2010 -> 02:25 PM) I say shake things up and make the pitchers hit but keep the DH. The SS positon would then become a defense only position and not hit. I wonder what Derek Jeter's legacy would have ended up like if he had played under those rules. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Feb 24, 2010 -> 04:28 PM) Survive and advance is all that matters at this point. Who do people want to play in the semis, Finland or Czech Republic? I think the Czech lineup looks more dangerous. Mikka might have a slight edge over Vokoun but thats close to a toss-up. Have to say Go Finland!
