  1. QUOTE (chw42 @ Feb 22, 2010 -> 02:08 PM) I hate all the BS these players spew out when they're talking about why they did it. "I was hurt, I needed to get healthy." GTFO, you most likely took them to get bigger and stronger. Health was just one of the reasons, not the main reason. A lot of them also act like taking them to get healthy is a valid excuse. "I didn't take them to cheat, I just needed to come back from injury quicker than normal." Totally. Recovering from an injury two months quicker than a normal player is not cheating at all. Yeah, OK.
  2. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Feb 22, 2010 -> 03:00 PM) If it's any consolation to Peavy i'm sure he'll get to DH at least once this year. Only if he can field a position other than pitcher, cause thats the most important thing when it comes to picking your DH, defensive flexibility.
  3. And yet another college athlete forgets that Facebook can be seen by the rest of the world and you can get in trouble with what you say on there... http://deadspin.com/5476701/oregon-pretty-...ne=true&s=i
  4. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Feb 22, 2010 -> 01:51 PM) I assume we're referring to the one girl who posed nude back in her home country? Yeah, there was a whole Women of Curling calendar with some of them from all different countries.
  5. QUOTE (Felix @ Feb 22, 2010 -> 11:45 AM) This thread needs more curling talk. The US is actually playing pretty well right now against Canada, tied 1-1 in the third end. Canada has been playing pretty poorly since they've already clinched the top spot, but the US has been making some nice shots for a change. If John Shuster wasn't such a suckfest, there would be more to talk about, but he blew any chance they had for a medal. It was good to see the kid nail the winner vs. Sweden on Saturday. As for the women's curling, I think the Danish team has been the easiest on the eyes so far. Oh, and big props to our guy Eddie Olczyk for the quote of the Games last night. "This game has been tremendously tremendous!"
  6. QUOTE (SockMe @ Feb 21, 2010 -> 11:20 PM) Dwight still has 16 good years left in him and hes already played 7. He'll be right up there as one of the best. 16 good years left, huh? Ten years from now, he'll be 34 and barring injuries, he will have played 15 full NBA seasons, not to mention countless playoff series, and possible Olympics/WCs. How well do you think his body/knees will hold up after all that basketball. Kevin Garnett came in the NBA at the same age as Howard, and 15 years later at 34, look how his body is starting to fall apart.
  7. What an awesome game. Canada controlled the puck & shots but the USA hung in there, took advantage of their opportunities, avoided big mistakes, and of course, had Ryan Miller between the pipes. Some of the media reaction comparing this to the Miracle on Ice is pretty ridiculous IMO. Yeah this was an upset, but it was still a non-elimination game featuring all NHL players. This was nowhere near the level of that victory. With the way Jonas Hiller played vs. Canada, I'd like to see Belarus spring the upset on the Swiss, just to make that game much easier. That Canada/Russia quarterfinal should be just an incredible hockey game. Sucks that is the late game Wednesday night, not gonna be easy to stay up for an 11 PM CST start.
  8. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Feb 21, 2010 -> 10:19 PM) Found another Beckham one too. Beckham - http://www1.picturepush.com/photo/a/2659084/img/2659084.png That's pretty sweet, but couldnt they find a screen shot of the Cell where it wasn't Jacque Jones coming up to bat???
  9. QUOTE (Whitewashed in '05 @ Feb 18, 2010 -> 10:52 PM) I just picture Lilly slamming his mitt on the mound. Actually... that would be a cool gif...
  10. QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 18, 2010 -> 10:53 PM) Toews vs. Kane. When the Olympics started I had the same issue about who to root for cause of all the Hawks. Now that it has started, my rooting interests are pretty set. #1 No injuries to Hossa, Keith, Toews, Kane, Seabrook, Kopecky (In that order) #2 Go USA. f*** Canada
  11. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 18, 2010 -> 09:58 PM) LeBron is going to be the ultimate prize this summer obviously, but if the Cavs don't win the NBA Title this year, I think it's only fair if the choker word is thrown out there in regards to the King. There is going to be a lot of pressure on him this spring. Choker? Really?? Have you seen the supporting cast he has had around him? In 2007, he put a bad team on his back and carried them to the Finals. In 08, they ran into a team with 3 of the best players of the last 15 years. Last year, they did get surprised by Orlando, but how can he be labeled a choker already? It took Jordan 6 or 7 years & Scottie Pippen to win a title, Kobe had Shaq to win when he was young, come on.
  12. QUOTE (Felix @ Feb 18, 2010 -> 10:09 AM) It's bad that we're playing Wisconsin tonight and I'm not terribly excited. I'll be there, but there's no chance in hell we're going to win. what was that about having no chance in hell to win?
  13. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 18, 2010 -> 09:24 PM) Crosby was a good choice to the SO, but my next two choices would not be Toews and Getzlaf. Not with Nash and Thornton on the bench. Toews has a pretty good shootout history and I think he chose Getzlaf due to his familiarty with Hiller. With that roster though, how the hell do you even choose?
  14. Canada pulls out the victory in a shootout, the only goal by Crosby. At least the Swiss stole a point from them. What a game by Hiller.
  15. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Feb 18, 2010 -> 02:04 PM) Ted Lilly threw off flat ground, felt some knee pain and is getting a MRI on it. Once again the Cubs will lead the league in injuries in "simulated" games
  16. Lindsey Vonn crashes in the slalom part of the super combined after finishing first in the downhill part, she gone. Mancuso gets another silver...
  17. QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Feb 18, 2010 -> 09:24 AM) Hmm honestly the best time to go when there will be no wait is probably when it first opens at 11:30am.. or when its close to shutting down at 2am.. But i highly suggest if you live close enough, call them and order it to go and it will be ready in 30 minutes. I dont even bother waiting on tables anymore unless im with a kumas corner newbie You can order it to go???? Awesome, this will have to happen real soon...
  18. QUOTE (dmbjeff @ Feb 18, 2010 -> 02:08 PM) Come on now, Boston has the second highest payroll. They each won the same amount of WS during that 4 year stretch. He left for the money, period. I doubt there weren't other circumstances at play...
  19. Once again, US Curling has the hammer in the extra end and somehow manages to lose to Denmark. 0-4. Massive FAIL
  20. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Feb 18, 2010 -> 01:50 PM) I was making a general point about chasing players who've already achieved what Damon has in his career. Just saying that it's not unlikely to get out bid by a less competitive team. They don't seem as motivated to win, and that's what White Sox fans want. Not saying Damon has no desire to win. Just saying that even though Detroit may not be as competitive as Chicago, he may take more money over a team that could fill a hole with him due to a better pay day. If I had to retire at or around 40, I'd want to make sure I could live comfortably the rest of my life with my trophy wife especially if I had already reached the pinnacle of what I was trying to achieve. That also depends on the player and how badly they still want to play or need the money. Some guys keep going at it until the league tells them they are no good anymore, while some players will glady leave at 36 if the right deal/situation doesnt come around.
  21. QUOTE (dmbjeff @ Feb 18, 2010 -> 02:01 PM) This is the same guy who fled Boston, a place where he was treated as a God and then was referred to as Judas, for more money. To suggest he doesn't want the best deal is crazy. Yeah, but the team he went to also has the most money to spend on players, and therefore, one of the best chances to win the WS each year, so it also made sense as far as a success standpoint
  22. QUOTE (Tex @ Feb 18, 2010 -> 01:53 PM) While that sounds good, then why is he looking to Chicago or Detroit? Why isn't he in NY or LA begging to play for the league min? I'm not trying to say that winning is the only thing and money doesn't matter. But if he was only concerned about the most money, he would have made his decision a while ago.
  23. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Feb 18, 2010 -> 01:08 PM) Great/risky move by the Knicks. Could end up with a mega tandem or a complete fail and decimated roster. I think the latter will happen. They will have to spend a lot of the money but it wont be on anybody named James, Bosh, or Wade. Maybe Joe Johnson, but that wont get em too far with the rest of the team they have.
  24. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Feb 18, 2010 -> 12:36 PM) My take is, you rarely chase after a free agent who has already won a championship or more than one. At that point, they're only looking at dollars. Especially one who is Damon's age. Damon would sign with Pittsburgh if they made the best offer. The White Sox may be the team that's after him that has the best shot at the playoffs, but at 36 and with 2 rings, he's looking to bank as much as he can before he retires. I've been to both cities, and I'd say Mrs. Damon would like Chicago better. Damon has made nearly $100 million in his career. If the Pirates offered him $10 million, do you really think the extra $3-5mill would make him want to waste away at age 36 on a guaranteed last place team??? Esepcially after he has been in the playoffs 7 of the last 9 seasons with a couple titles??? I highly doubt it
