QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 6, 2010 -> 08:56 PM) Lebron with 47 points, 8 boards, 8 dimes and 5 steals. This dude is so good it's really frightening. He's more of a lock to win MVP this year than he was last year. And that's saying A LOT. he scored 24 straight points for the Cavs at one point, he was just buring 3s from 30 feet away -

Demetri McCamey, WOW. Good win for the Illini, but still gotta beat some more teams that are better to secure a bid. Orange Krush represented well during the day but I definitely didn't like the rushing of the court vs. a conference rival whose best player was out. Then again, most of those kids havent seen much success from the team the last few years, so I guess I understand. As far as the refs go, we definitely got some calls at the end, especially the BP3 continuation where I didnt even see a foul in the first place. Any basketball game is gonna have a team feeling biased off the refs though, especially a team on the road. It kinda sucks, but its such a tough game to officiate. -

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 6, 2010 -> 01:48 PM) So ESPN accidentally brought all their trucks and what not to Carbondale, too bad the game is at UNI. Whoops... Is that why the game is lacking HD?? Barnburner in the 1st half -
QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Feb 5, 2010 -> 10:09 AM) For some reason I do not think their pitching is all that great. Thats cause its not that great

QUOTE (daa84 @ Feb 5, 2010 -> 07:52 AM) the state of basketball in illinois is really bad right now....Illinois is decent but decent isn't good enough for that program, and the chicago schools are god awful. Depaul is pathetic and I even think UIC is dead last in the horizon with Loyola not far behind....then SIU, ISU and Bradley are all .500 or below within MVC play... Northwestern has had a good year for their program (especially without coble) but they probably still won't make their first tourney that said, like dasox said, I am pretty happy with how my commodores have played...i just haven't been posting here much because ive been so busy yeah, its bad when a state with the basketball talent Illinois has doesnt even have one team thats a lock for the tournament. The same in 08 when 0 Illinois schools made it Despite the suckiness of the Illini, I've enjoyed the b-ball season, lots of good games in the Big Ten this year. The tournament is definitely gonna be wide open, although thats not always a good thing (see 2006). -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Feb 4, 2010 -> 09:54 PM) USC got a commitment from a 7th grade QB today. WTF? I hope the kid realizes that Kiffin is gonna leave USC for another job way before the kid steps foot on campus. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 4, 2010 -> 08:16 AM) Grady Sizemore apologizes for nude pictures of himself floating around on the internets. He's probably just embarassed and self-conscious now after seeing the Greg Oden pics

Well at least Illinois has learned how to beat all the other bad teams in the Big Ten, now the real fun starts. 6 of the last 8 against the top four big dogs. I dont expect them to do much with it, but they will have every chance to earn themselves a tourney bid. Saturday would be a nice time to start with College Gameday in town for MSU, and with Lucas possibly slowed down by injury. Northwestern has like the exact opposite schedule, 6 of their last 8 Big Ten games vs. Indiana, Iowa, & PSU. If they can win all these games that they are supposed to win, maybe they can snag that long awaited tourney bid, which would be awesome for them. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Feb 1, 2010 -> 04:28 PM) So it sounds like there is a good chance that the NCAA tournament will be expanding to 96 teams. Way to ruin the best postseason sports NCAA. And way to continue to prove you are arguably the biggest joke of an organization in the world. This is the dumbest idea ever. There aren't even 65 deserving teams in a single season let alone 96. I hope everyone joins me in boycotting the NCAA tournament due to the expansion if this happens. Totally. For all the talk every year about all of the bubble teams, how many of them actually make any noise in the tournament? I think George Mason is the only double digit seed in the last 20 years or so to make the Final Four. And now you wanna add more mediocre teams?? No thanks. -
JFP Contreras started opening day in 07, so that ruined any streak Buehrle had. Give your new ace the start to set the tone for the season

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 29, 2010 -> 04:05 PM) Our best team did get f***ed by the strike. Yeah it did. Stupid Cubs fans always tried to tell me the Expos would have beat us anyway. Bulls***. 94 Big Hurt would not have let that happen
-
QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Jan 29, 2010 -> 03:40 PM) The Cubs were one win away from the Series with three games to play twice in 20 years, and choked in catastrophic fashion both times. Their 1969 giveaway was also historic, rivaling only the 1964 Philllies for epic collapses. They haven't won a series in 101 years, and haven't been to one in 65. Their status as one of the all time piss poor franchises is probably unrivalved in major sport. Imo, their fans have had it much worse than we have. And except for maybe a few, true blue old-timers, I don't pity those idiots one bit. Not to mention 2008. The media over hype machine annointed them NL champions in March, they were easily the best team in the NL from wire-to-wire, and then they proceeded to s*** the bed in the first few innings of game 1, and never recovered to even win a single game.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 29, 2010 -> 01:41 PM) Branyan missed the last part of the season with back problems. Yeah, that'll mess with your ability to play defense. Sucks for him, finally got the chance to play every day, played decently, but probably wont cash in too well off of it due to the market & injury.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 29, 2010 -> 10:47 AM) Is Bedard hurt? I'm surprised he still hasn't signed anywhere. I know he is a head case, but still. The Cardinals could use one more starter. He's Javy Vazquez with arm trouble
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 29, 2010 -> 01:28 PM) With his health issues, I seriously doubt that. I don't know if he has any new health issues that I haven't heard of, but he did start 116 games at 1b last year for the M's and played over 30 games at 3b for the Brew Crew in 08. Personally, I want nothing to do with the guy cause he's so fluky and an hits for average
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 29, 2010 -> 11:07 AM) Why are you going to sign Branyon though when you just told Jim Thome there are no at bats for him? Branyan can still play 1b/3b, and possibly the OF, so you can find at bats for him as opposed to Thome who can only DH I don't necessarily agree with this thinking, but it seems to be the way Ozzie is going about this all right now

QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Jan 28, 2010 -> 07:05 PM) Just had some of the greatest texas style brisket ever at this place called "Smoque" over on addison and pulaski. Someone told me that the place was shown on the food network channel so I had to check it out and boy did they deliver. Its hard to find a place with good brisket in chicago but this place nailed it! I live right by Smoque and the BBQ there is definitely awesome. If you want another good BBQ spot, Fat Willy's on Western, between Diversey & Fullerton is great too Portillos is another great spot to hit up. There are so many locations, but the Italian beef is so good, and everything else on the menu hits the spot too
