  1. Awesome read. Looking like this might be one of KW's player obsessions that works out very well
  2. Anyone else find it funny that her run-ins range from Shaq to Delonte West to J.J. Redick????
  3. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jan 14, 2010 -> 09:20 AM) Paul Sullivan said the cubs are kicking the tires on Dye as a 4th OF/platoon with fukodome. Is fukodome one of the bigger busts in recent memory? I think Sullivan said he hit .259. Thank Jermaine Dye & Iguchi/Takatsu for the Sox not signing him. KW offered him more money than the Cubs did, but he wanted to play RF and wanted to go a team where he would be the 1st Japanese player.
  4. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 13, 2010 -> 08:43 AM) Or the idiot ballplayers who can't think before they f***. this is the truth
  5. Look at the Illini, 4-0 & 1st place in the Big Ten!!!!! (Please disregard the fact they have played 3 at home and against 4 of the worst 5 teams in the conference) I don't know what DeChellis told his players in the huddle, but thanks to Talor Battle for taking 4 straight awful shots with the game on the line Looks like McCamey might have finally turned a page and might be able to start leading the team. I dont know if Tisdale just finally started getting laid or something but he has suddenly turned into a man, showing aggression and finally dunking the f***ing basketball. Too bad Davis is pulling the disappearing act now. I wasnt a big fan of Jim Jackson as an analyst last night, it almost seemed like he talked too much, and just tried to sound lilke he knew everything. Big props to Evan Turner, its not easy to overshadow a guy who hits 8 3's in a half, but he did, huge win for the Buckeyes.
  6. Wow. Robbie Hummel with 29 points in the 1st half, 8-10 from behind the arc
  7. I coulda swore I heard that Castro had signed with someone else already...guess not. I hope Castro can repeat his performance of last year and get the Sox another perfect game!
  8. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jan 12, 2010 -> 01:58 PM) I hope Carroll can figure out how to use Seneca somehow. Does Seneca have a future as a starting QB somehwre or is he only gonna be more of a wildcat/backup type player??
  9. QUOTE (longshot7 @ Jan 12, 2010 -> 01:32 PM) Why wouldn't they come here? It's the best city in the country, the weather is perfect for sports year round, and there's no pro teams to compete with for news coverage. Even if there are sanctions, they won't last forever. Also, I've heard Chris Peterson (Boise) and Gary Patterson (TCU) are on the list, but the school wants a former NFL guy who's a name people (and recruits) know, so that's why they're going this route first. I'd love Peterson or Patterson. What?????????
  10. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 10:03 PM) IMO, this issue is a hell of a lot more complicated than it ever gets credit for. You're talking about athletes who are paid based upon their performance relative to their peers. When some percentage of their peers are using PED's to improve their performances, it begins to affect the pay, as well as a host of other issues, of players who are staying clean. No more is this evident than with Frank Thomas, who no doubtedly has been shortchanged money, awards, and perhaps even postseason titles and awards due to the behavior of a group of a select few who chose to seek out an "edge." What would you have done? Do you stay clean and lose because others are being rewarded for cheating, or do you join in with the cheaters? Do you possible lose your ability to earn a livelihood by choosing to stay clean, or do you try to keep up with the Joneses' by taking PED's? General Managers, Owners, and MLB personnel should be taking a hell of a lot more heat for this than the players. As for guys like Mac, Bonds, ARod, they knew there was a risk when they cheated. Let's not feel too badly for them. They were rewarded with financial compensation for the risks they took with their bodies as well as their legacies. For all the talk about Bonds. McGwire & HRs, I think people also forget about the borderline players who also had their livelihood/money taken away by the PEDs as well. I'm sure there are tons of players in AAA who refused to cross the line and never got their big day in the majors, while other guys took the juice, which gave them that extra that they needed to get in the majors. They may have just been bench players, but thats still much better than AAA forever. Juan Rincon is an example. He was a lights-out set up man for the Twins for 4 years. Then it turns on out he was taking steroids. After his suspension, he hasnt been able to keep his ERA under 5. If he had stayed clean, he knows if he would have been able to stay in MLB so long, and he may have taken someone else's spot who was clean.
  11. QUOTE (scenario @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 02:08 PM) Alexei Ramirez inf 4 years/$4.75M (2008-11) * 4 years/$4.75M (2008-11) o signed by White Sox 12/21/07 as a free agent from Cuba (via the Dominican Republic) o $0.5M signing bonus o 08:$0.95M, 09:$1.1M, 10:$1.1M, 11:$1.1M * agent: Jaime Torres * ML service: 1.000 = highway robbery by the White Sox
  12. QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 10, 2010 -> 02:45 PM) The Reds have a poor record of fixing pitchers. He'll have Tommy John by 2013. 2013?? I dont think you are giving Dusty Baker enough credit. If he makes it to 2012 it will be a miracle
  13. 29-33, 379 yds, 5 TDs, 0 INTs, 154.1 QB Rating More touchdowns than incompletions. Wow. I know the Superdome will be rocking Saturday, but how do you stop that??? I guess thats why the over under is already set at 57
  14. It will be interesting to see how the Seahawks get around the Rooney Rule. They negotiated with Carroll and waited until he basically accepted the job to fire Mora. They still have to interview a minority candidate, but looks like Leslie Frazier is calling their bluff and not interviewing with them. Supposedly they are trying to get Ron Rivera to came in, dont know if he'd agree either with the position all but filled anyway.
  15. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 03:56 PM) Jim tressel isn't going anyewhere. Touche. Bobby Bowden also didnt go anywhere after his repeated top 5 finishes. It sounded like a better idea when I first wrote it, but oh well.
  16. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 03:36 PM) My guess is that Carroll may be thinking that with Bush and now Mcknight that sanctions and a real investigation arent far behind. Best time to get out is before an investigation. Thats what I was thinking as well. Also, they have been so dominant, he has nowhere to go but down. Its not easy to repeat 7 straight BCS bowl trips. Their fans aren't as crazy and demanding as some other top programs, but its easy to start getting used to being that good
  17. QUOTE (Sox72 @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 02:10 PM) Oh great. Now I know I'm gonna pull that one out when I'm drunk thanks to you. Will it be worth it? Probably not. Will I share the story of me getting beat up? Sure. Haha. Almost all of my college friends were either Cubs or Cardinals fans so I've heard too many Kile jokes to even count. We still cant go a full fantasy baseball draft without him getting mentioned or drafted.
  18. QUOTE (Sox72 @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 01:29 PM) It used to be the Cardinals until I recently moved to St. Louis. Now, I can't stand them. It's common to hear that they have the best fans in baseball. What everyone fails to mention is that they are delusional as well. One fan is intent on convincing me that Brendan Ryan is the best shortstop in the NL. I brought up a slew of other names but apparently was being shortsighted because I wasn't taking into account defense. Another was trying to convince me that Wainwright is the best pitcher in the NL. I guess there is at least SOME argument to that, but I hated the fact that he was saying he was a true MLB ace based on one season. And no one is worse than their sports-radio hosts. One week they think the Cardinals can't live without Holliday (when there are rumors that he'll re-sign), the next he is a huge detriment to the team (when he's rumored to sign elsewhere). I have to admit, though, that I've had a hatred for the this particular host after he said before the NHL season that the Blackhawks would miss the playoffs due to losing Khabibulan and the Blues would win the division. Point is, St. Louis fans may be loyal but it's almost to a fault. (Whew.....glad I got that rant off my chest). Go Giants.....what's not to love about a team that has had the likes of Barry Bonds and Jeff Kent on their roster. Plus, their GM always gives out the most fiscally responsible contracts. When they upset you that much, just ask them whats taking Daryl Kile so long to get back in the starting rotation?
  19. Root for the Dodgers since the wife's family is friends with Torre, but always have been a fan of the Mariners and more recently the Brewers as well. Something about St. Louis and their fans that makes me not like them when they are not competing vs. the Cubs.
  20. Yes, its definitely possible that Texas might have won if McCoy played. But the fact is that the #1 rushing defense in the nation gave up 205 yards rushing in the game. And in the first half right after their star QB got injured, they gave up a 57-yard drive that was mostly Ingram running all over them and then a 49-yard rushing TD to a freshman. After the injury, their D had to step up to keep them in the game and they didn't.
  21. With March 13 barely two months away, I dont see it happening now, which totally sucks. Hopefully they can each win another fight, cool down and maybe try to work it out again for later in the year. It makes too much sense not to happen. I'm actually gonna be in Vegas that weekend too. I probably wasnt gonna spend the $$$$ to go the fight, but just being in the town with the pre-fight atmosphere would have been awesome.
  22. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jan 7, 2010 -> 10:37 AM) No all I meant was you titled it "Blackhawks Fans." No one who posts here and no actual Hawks fan starts a Detroit sucks chant at a non Detroit game. Your point is completely correct. The jokers you saw I assume are the same jokers I see trying to start the wave. I think I can call them Cubs fans without getting any grief around here. As an added bonus, also see "People who start a 'USA' or 'Canada sucks' chant while playing Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, etc." Totally, I gotcha. Thats why most of the other fans reactions were the same as mine. Its part of the joy of being a Chicago fan, the meatball conglomerate will always be around to make the fan base look ridiculous. Its the same people that wear Cubs Suck shirts to Sox playoff games. The Bears fans that still think Ditka should have been appointed head coach for life or that "Bear Weather" actually makes the Bears play better football.
  23. Oregon State lost at home to Seattle by 51 points!!! Its their 1st season in D-1
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 7, 2010 -> 08:29 AM) I really don't believe that and the reason why is pretty easy. You don't even need explosives, all you need is firearms, and the U.S. is loaded with easily accessible firearms. Just ask the Tennessee sports teams. Or Gilbert Arenas. If all you want to do is kill people, pull out a gun and walk through any crowded place and you've got target after target, esp. if you're in a place with limited or unarmed security. You really don't need explosives to do it, all you need to do is get a person into the country with $1000 in their pocket. IMO, the reason why it hasn't happened yet has more to do with Al Qaeda's ideology than anything else. They're something of a near-apocalyptic group. They believe that by staging large attacks, they'll shake things up so much that with the help of Allah, they'll be able to overthrow the infidels and create a new order centered around themselves. That by launching monster attacks, like 9/11, or the other large, coordinated incidents, they'll provoke the final holy war that they're looking for. Thus, they haven't, at least so far, been interested in the piecemeal attacks that they could launch easily on any number of targets. Good point, didnt really think about the whole gun thing it all. Seeing all the constant bombings/attacks going on in Asia/Middle East made me think why it wouldnt be attempted here more often, but then again those are also different people fighting different battles. I see what you are saying about their ideology. I personally think small attacks on soft everyday targets would do more overall damage to the USA than a plane or two, but then again I'm not the one trying to murder the infidels, so what do I know?
