Ex-NBA ref Donaghy's book canceled by publisher

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Oct 30, 2009 -> 12:04 PM) The Blazers-Lakers game is when I stopped caring about basketball. The Mavericks-Heat series ruined it for me. The last four games just consisted of Dwayne Wade driving towards the basket and throwing himself at a defender to draw a foul. I dont think he tried to make baskets most of the time. -

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 30, 2009 -> 12:49 PM) The one thing which has really pissed me off about the NBA is the way the refs work. It is so blatantly the worst referred sport around and the calls are just so so subjective. I'm not shocked at all by the comments. And I hope the NBA gets taken to town and has to be held accountable for these actions. I would argue the NBA at times is more fixed than Boxing for most of the last 20 years. Does Champ Bailey get away with pass intereference more than a Zackary Bowman because of who he is?? No Does Cliff Lee get a much bigger strike zone than Scott Eyre? No Does Kobe Bryant draw way more fouls than Jannero Pargo because of who he is? You best believe it, and the NBA doesn't really hide that fact either. -
My RB options do suck, hopefully the Cards take a big lead and actually run the ball and realize Beanie is better than Hightower. Thanks!

QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 28, 2009 -> 01:05 AM) Amazing how top running backs just drop off from the face of the earth. Terrell Davis Shaun Alexander Priest Holmes Larry Johnson LaDanian Tomlinson I never thought Shaun Alexander was all that good. Always seemed slow to me, I thought he was a product of a stud offensive line, especially with Jones & Hutchinson next to each other on the left side -

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 29, 2009 -> 11:15 AM) That's wild. It is also worth noting that he never really labored or had a tough out the entire game. His mechanics have always been really fluid, and I am a believer that it is the tougher innings, where you end up throwing 30-40 pitches, are the innings you need to worry about more. You obviously don't want to leave a pitcher out for 130-150 pitches ever, but if you can average about 12-15 pitches or so an inning and never get into the 25-30 range, you should be all right in the long run. I'm guess I'm more upset about the fact that Lee was left in a game that was pretty much decided already. I still think leaving Lee in was the right move. I know scoring 6 runs in one inning is really tough to do, but with the way Lee was pitching, do you really wanna risk throwing Lidge out there? The odds of Lidge blowing it were minimal, but much better chance than of Lee doing it. Its the World Series, you manage to win that days game and worry about the rest later, and I doubt the difference between 105 & 122 pitches is gonna hurt Lee later in the series -

QUOTE (JoeBatterz @ Oct 28, 2009 -> 02:30 PM) The guy who said recruiting help in Texas is correct. There are a few reasons for it. Even though it is a neutral site game, it is considered a home game for Notre Dame and thus the game will be part of their NBC contract. Also, they can have recruits in Texas attend the game and it does not count as a campus visit. The plan is to play one game every other year in Texas as a way to appeal to those recruits and let them play a few games over their college careers in front of their home state fans. Future ND games in Texas will be played in the new Jerry Jones Cowboy Dome and in Houston as well. On the seasons that they don't play in Texas, they plan to play games in Florida at sites in Jacksonville, Orlando and Tampa. The reasons are the same as they play in Texas. Of course, they will also play in Yankee Stadium against Army, I believe next season. In addition to the recruiting benefits, it is a throwback to the barnstorming days that ND started back in the days of Rockne. of course they choose to play Wazzu & Army in these games to make it seem as if they are a dominating program... -

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Oct 29, 2009 -> 08:39 AM) First pre-season Top 25 is out Coaches Poll 1. Kansas 2. MSU 3. Texas 4. UNC 5. Kentucky 6. Nova 7. Purdue 8. Duke (really? again we're gonna do this with them?) 9. WVU 10. Butler 11. Tennessee 12. Cal 13. Washington 14. UCONN 15. Michigan 16. OU 17. Ohio St 18. Minnesota 19. Miss St 20. Ga Tech 21. G'Town 22. Dayton 23. L'Ville 24. Clemson 25. Syracuse Illini ranked 27th...thats pretty fair, they have huge potential, but are dependent on some young guys stepping up and showing big improvemnt Although with the loss of Chester Frazier, I am a bit worried they might end up falling short like the 06 Sox, due to a lack of the fire and the passion -
Beanie Wells (vs. CAR) or Bradshaw (vs. PHI) ? Hester (vs. CLE) or Burleson (vs. DAL) ? Leaning towards Beanie & Hester...

how confident can Yankees fans be in AJ Burnett??? he hasnt exactly proven himself on the big stage and if he has one of his bouts of wildness, the Phillies will jump all over him -

The Bengals were running the cover 2 most of Sunday, and it seemed to work pretty well. Bottom line, if you dont get a pass rush, the cover 2 is worthless. When you are pressuring the QB a lot, it works great -

Lee/Sabathia Game 1...Indians fans gotta be asking what if??? I'm picking Yankees in 6, they both have the aces and the stacked lineups, but overall I think Rivera/Joba/Hughes beats Lidge/Madson/Park -
QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Oct 25, 2009 -> 10:35 PM) LOL at the Angels. Way to choke away any chance of making the WS by making errors on consecutive bunts. scott kazmir can throw a 95 mph strike from the mound but he cant lob a ball 30 feet to first base....phillies/yankees world series shoulda brought in weaver earlier
-
QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Oct 25, 2009 -> 10:08 PM) I think the Yankees are going to Mariano for a six out save. probably the right move too, his postseason numbers are ridiculous...he makes the managers job so easy... never realized how good Texiera is with his glove...

Karl constantly tells the story of Homer's game winning HBP
-
Mr. Playoffs Derek Jeter actually misses a ball, but somehow he makes sure it bounces to the 2nd baseman for the out. phil hughes was unhittable during the season, but has sucked in the playoffs, so the angels still got a shot in the 8th to come back

QUOTE (daa84 @ Oct 25, 2009 -> 08:54 PM) the bears got absolutely mauled in the trenches on both sides of the ball....the O line is probably one of the worst i've seen for the bears...its not going to be easy to fix without top draft picks either pace is ready to retire, Kreutz & Garza are on the tail end of their careers, Omiyale shouldnt even start for the Illini, Williams is the only one that has a future with the team...sucks that Colombo had all those injuries in Chicago, but with no 1st/2nd round picks next year, the line is not gonna get much better soon -
QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Oct 25, 2009 -> 09:00 PM) I thought it was a strike as well. Of course with the way ARod is swinging the bat and the fact Posada just grounded into a double play that call might not have been the worst case scenario for the Angels since it would have only been a full count if that is a strike. very true, A-Rod may have hit a granny on the 3-2 pitch, but instead with that double play its still a game i saw santana warming up, but with the way weaver looked in the 8th inning of game 5, I'd bring him in for sure
-
QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Oct 25, 2009 -> 08:51 PM) No one watching game 6? Anyways huge AB coming up with ARod up with the bases loaded. looked like a strike to me...either way I have a feeling this game might get out of hand super quick, unless the Angels bullpen steps up. Jared Weaver should pitch the next few innings

I think Mr. Burns was way tougher on sideburns than Steinbrenner ever was, just ask Mattingly

Freaking guy got a mohawk for todays game. Hearing that and joe buck's constant ripping on him reminded me of his d-bagness

Alex Legion, 28 pts, 11-15 FG, 6-8 behind the arc in the O & B scrimmage game. If he can play anywhere near to his potential, instead of the suckfest he was last year, it will make the Illini so much stronger and they will have a chance to compete for the conference title. Either way, cant wait for the season to start, the Big 10 has so much talent, should be very entertaining, the experts are even predicting NW to finally make the tourney
