  1. It would be one thing if he just wasnt ready yet. But a stupid line drive off the elbow by some minor leaguer, just bad luck!!!
  2. Bench Jermaine Dye for Mark Kotsay? Really? I agree Kotsay would put up better numbers than JD has over the past month, but that doesnt put us much closer to winning the division. To turn this around, we need JD to hit like he did in the first half, or at least close to his career norms. If he doesnt, its probably over, which is what its looking like more and more
  3. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 27, 2009 -> 09:07 AM) At this point is there any type of pitcher that we do hit well? So true. At this point, I would bet that if we cut Contreras, the BoSox would pick him up, start em next Saturday at the Cell, and he would throw seven scoreless innings against us easy.
  4. a rookie pitcher from japan who we have never seen before....this probably wont end well....please prove me wrong for once this week
  5. ex-Kentucky coach Billy Gillispie arrested for DUI. From all the drinky stories I used to hear in Champaign when he was an assistant, I cant say this is a big suprise didnt realize earlier, but its the third time hes been arrested for DUI
  6. QUOTE (tommy @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 02:23 PM) A.J. hitting third tonight as Guillen searches for guys immune to "tight-assiness." - Cowley. Why is Joe Cowley stuck as a sports beat writer, he should be a freaking comedian Come on Sox, stop the suckfest today and win a damn ballgame!!
  7. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 01:21 PM) Replacing all of Ikenberry Commons (6-Pack) with new buildings and the dining hall will be huge there. Should be open within a year, and it looks fantastic so far. Wow, just looked it up, looks awesome. Definitely a bit better than the old Illini Orange McDonalds that was there when I lived there.
  8. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 10:55 PM) I'm currently attending right now. They're going to open one of the largest dinning halls in the country here next year. That's definitely going to be a treat. The food here is alright I guess. Not everything tastes as good as it looks or seems to be. Where is that huge dining hall gonna be? Graduated a couple years ago, never heard anything about it
  9. Theres also the issue that people have been getting shot with the guns that Marvin Harrison owns... Oh, and Tony Dungy, please go away. So sick of his mentoring, preachy morality BS, listen to me, I know all that is right & wrong...
  10. the difference for a home run hitter is 1/30th of a second.....
  11. http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune....aily-basis.html What did the guy expect? The team hasnt won in over 100 years, spent all this money to get swept in the playoffs twice. You are the big offseason signing that supposed to bring a power lefty bat to the lineup and they traded away a fan favorite to sign him too. 32 RBIs in 104 games. From the day they signed him, I thought he was way too big of a head case to deal with all the pressure there is at Wrigley.
  12. Sanchez named Jets starting QB for opener, Clemons gets no love...again
  13. QUOTE (nastymasty21 @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 03:55 PM) Time for Rios' comin out party ^^^^ This is what I'm waiting to see
  14. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 06:25 AM) Do the Rockies have the mojo going right now or what? Down 4-1 in the bottom of the 14th and they come up with 5 runs, highlighted by a walk-off grand slam by Ryan Spilborghs, to beat the Giants 6-4. Colorado is 53-26 since Jim Tracy took over for Clint Hurdle. They're only 3 games behind the Dodgers. Amazing run they're on right now. Watching the highlights, Spilboroughs sprints around the bases as fast as he can like he's a little leaguer, pretty awesome to watch how pumped he is
  15. The Mets have had one of the worst years ever in terms of injuries, and now their ace is out for the last month or so. He should be ready for spring training. I bet if they were in the race, he might try to pitch through it, but no point in it now. Right now they have Beltran, Reyes, Delgado, Wright, Putz, & now Santana all on the DL. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4421928
  16. I'll never forget the game in 2000 when sirotka lost 1-0 to Pedro at Fenway, and the only run scored was after valentin airmailed a throw into the crowd on a routine grounder, which led to a runner on 2nd, who was knocked in on the next at bat. Looking back at the box score, Pedro had 15 K's in that game! http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/BO...200007230.shtml
  17. 100% Polish, 1st generation born in the States
  18. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Aug 24, 2009 -> 10:12 AM) What if the new Cubs brass came in and immediately wanted payroll flexibility back. In the offseason, would you do the following, knowing it would be our last move for awhile: Linebrink for Soriano Vitters Cashner Flaherty......and perhaps another contract coming back our way. What can I say, there'd be the new DH and the farm system is restocked. Obviously a pure joke of a scenario but I'm trying to think what scenario there could possibly be where we'd accept AS on our team. With that contract, absolutely none, the guy is gonna be making over $20 million in 2014 when hes 38
