QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Aug 18, 2009 -> 11:52 AM) I probably wasnt at all clear, but I'm envisioning games like yesterday where the tough lefties come up in the 7th and we happen to have righties coming up in the 8th. Putting it that way, we obviously cant trust Linebrink, but I think I would prefer Dotel/Pena over Carrasco in that situation though. I know DJ has pitched well all year, but I think pitching in long relief is much different than the 8th innings setup role, and I just dont think he would do as well
-
I think we can definitely use Carrasco in the 8th, especially if we dont want to win the division
-
Who would you rather have starting at 2b?

Mike Fontenot vs. righties, Aaron Miles vs. lefties -
QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Aug 15, 2009 -> 07:17 PM) Brad Lidge is awful. Manuel is insane for staying with him. For all the talk about the Phillies being unstoppable in the NL, especially after they traded for Cliff Lee, no one seems to mention that they dont have a closer. As good as Lidge was last year, everyone knows hes capable of blowing up during the playoffs, especially during a season where his ERA is over 7.

Why did Oakland schedule it right during the FOX tv window if they knew it would not be televised? Something else going on at the Colisuem tonight? Come on fellas, lets prove KW right for trading for Gavin, and trading away Gio, bats keep hitting today, Sox win 7-2

QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 09:19 PM) That will surely go down as one of the worst trades in Seattle's history. I do like Bedard as a buy low candidate though. He kind of reminds me of Javy Vazquez, some of the best stuff in the league, but anytime he faces pressure he kind of just gives up

wow, that looked like a homer to me, those 3 runs would come in handy right now... anybody know who decides whether or not to review a play?? that seemed like a prime canidate
-
wow, we threw a runner out with Jose on the mound!
-
and its a ballgame again
-
wow, every day I am more amazed that Mark was able to throw a perfect game with this defense behind him
-
First Dye, now CQ miscommunicates with Rios, gonna have to figure that out soon guys

Crap, 6-1. Oaklands stadium is weird, theres very few sections that are completely empty, but none of the sections are completely full, they all have empty seats

One thing I will say is that the Cubs are real good at beating up bad pitching, which as a Sox fan, I wouldnt take for granted since the Sox seem to have difficulty a lot when facing bad pitchers
-
I think it was Lee Smith that used to sleep until the fifth inning or so. Granted he knew they wouldnt call on him any earlier than the 7th inning, but 478 saves later, it didnt seem to be a problem

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Aug 13, 2009 -> 07:30 PM) Here's why I say what I did about the Stallworth situation. It's a tragedy, yes. But Stallworth has handled this as best as you can every step of the way. No prior records. Also, the family of the man who was killed seems to be okay with his joke of a jail sentence & whatever settlement that they recieved. I know Goodell wants to uphold the integrity of the league but this isn't a Pacman Jones or a Rae Carruth situation we're talking about here. Basically, it wasn't premeditated. Basically Stallworth is being made an example by good ol' Roger. It's not as if this is going to make players anymore aware of the dangers of driving under the influence. So instead of dealing with the situation in a positive manner, it's set to hang over the NFL all season. Really? Donte KILLED somebody while driving under the influence. PacMan is a horrible guy who started numerous fights/brawls, has an addiction to strip clubs, a buddy of his shot and paralyzed somebody, but a man is dead from Stallworth driving after drinking. How did Goodell overreact???? The man's family is a poor immigrant family who lost their main, if not only, source of income. I'm sure they were more concerned about their family's survival and realized they had a chance to support themselves after their loss. -
Why wasnt BA starting for Pawtucket??? A BA vs. Peavy duel may have ended the world!!!!

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Aug 13, 2009 -> 11:16 AM) They've got a crucial qualifier coming up against Cyprus in the next few days IIRC, but I agree that it'd be good to finally see em in a World Cup again. And they've got some talent in Robbie Keane, Shay Given etc. to possibly do some damage if things go their way. As for the Aussies, things are looking pretty rosy right now. They play the 4-2-3-1 formation very well, and they're becoming very hard to score against. As for the USA, you guys have got 3 games at home still right, so you should have no problem qualifying. USA has two at home, two on the road 09/05 vs. El Salvador in Salt Lake 09/09 at Trinidad & Tobago 10/10 at Honduras 10/14 vs. Costa Rica in Washington DC -
Good work Cubs, they didnt even find the right guy http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune....gets-away-.html

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 13, 2009 -> 07:15 AM) Seeing how Minnesota and Detroit are equally as bad right now, and the Sox are only 2 games back, I think this kind of talk is silly. Exactly. Part of me wishes we were in the AL East, so I could stop caring so much about this mediocre team, but the fact is we are only two games out of a playoff spot and the team we are chasing is equally mediocre, so theres no reason why we cant still win the division. And with a rotation of Peavy, Buehrle, Danks, Floyd, anything can happen in the playoffs

That guy probably had been watching the super classy Mexican fans throw stuff at the other team all day and figured he could do it too. Last night was one of the best times I've ever had at Wrigley, with getting to see Pedro pitch, seeing a domer get rocked, and just the gloom and despair all the fans were showing while the Phillies were having BP in the 4th, good times!
-
Wow, Big Jim is 5 for 8 with 2 doubles, 3 HRs, 6 RBI, 3BB career vs. King Felix, thats a .625/.750/2.000 line!!!
-
Felix is much worse at home, 4-3, 4.05 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, .266 BAA.....

What would Lexi bring back in trade?
LittleHurt05 replied to suicidesqueeze's topic in Pale Hose Talk
With the big contracts we just added, I dont know about trading away a capable MI with Alexei's potential who makes barely 1.5 million a year til 2011... -
Pedro is pitching for the Phils wednesday night, I'm heading to the game with the wife and her fam (all Cubs fans), so will be cool to see him pitch. Although since hes not the same Pedro & ND punk Samardzija is pitching for the Cubs, I think both teams could reach double digits. I'll be in right field, and there definitely should be some homers hit that way
