  1. He already said yes to playing in the city of Chicago (cubs talk), his issue now is playing for the Sox organization...
  2. I think peavy & oswalt go hunting every year somewhere near Champaign, cause they seem to be spotted once a year at Kam's...maybe that will help convince him to come to Chicago?
  3. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 21, 2009 -> 09:01 AM) Dude, there's no way this happens. He's already declined trades to the Yankees and Angels, why on Earth would he want to come here? I think he has to be at least thinking about it. If he was 100% against coming to the Sox, I'd assume trade talks would never get this far...He had to at least tell the Padres "maybe"
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 21, 2009 -> 08:29 AM) The Score is indeed reporting the deal is done pending Peavy approval, no mention of players at all. The Score tends to be wrong a lot, but if its true, wow, everytime people start doubting KW and getting upset with him, he starts pulling moves like these.
  5. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ May 19, 2009 -> 11:03 PM) Rocky has done a great, great job... however, outside of convincing McDonough to come to the Hawks... the rest of the stuff was pretty easy and I honestly believe anyone on this board could have turned this franchise around. Things had gotten so absolutely horrible and stagnant that the solution to almost every problem the organization faced was "do the opposite" which Rocky did. I'm not trying to say that Rocky doesn't deserve credit, because he ABSOLUTELY does, but fixing this team wasn't a revelation of sports management considering the situation he was presented with. I guess I'm just trying to put things in the proper perspective. I agree. Rocky and McDonough have made some smart moves, but the amount of credit they receive for putting the games on TV makes me laugh. 99.9% of people would tell you thats a good idea, only WWW didnt agree with that.
  6. I just see no way that KW gives up this quickly, I definitely think he would want to wait it out at least another month. The poor quality of the division also makes it less likely he makes a move this soon.
  7. 32 pitches through two, at least they are seeing some pitches and making him work a little bit
  8. the white sox wall calendar they mailed out in the winter had last wed. vs. cle as a night game and had today as a night game...good work front office kinda glad its a day game, so i can be at work and not have to watch our inept offense flail away
  9. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 18, 2009 -> 07:37 AM) Good post. When he was traded I believe he had never started more than 10 games in a row or something along those lines. He's a huge risk to have on your staff, because while he has tremendous stuff, he gets hurt a lot or he often ends up throwing 100+ pitches in 5 innings and a team finds itself in its bullpen early in a game. Don't forget, if it wasn't a 40 man roster in Sept. he probably would have been on the DL. Before he got traded one of the ESPN analysts, I believe it was Olney, said on radio that if the A's wanted anything near decent value for him he would have had to pitch all of the 2nd half healthy. The Cubs traded him for nothing because they took his salary and the A's were willing to get little for him to get rid of his contract. His ERA+ for this year is only 98 After starting 31 games in 2004, his starts per season dropped: 2005: 19 (22 total appearances) 2006: 9 2007: 4 (7 appearances) 2008: 25 Not to mention, in '08, he averaged just under 6 innings per start, and so far this year is averaging under 5.5 innings per start. The guy has some of the best stuff in all of baseball, but the combination of his injury history and inability to last past the 6th inning really lowers his value. He only has two complete games in his whole career, and those were in '05.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 14, 2009 -> 09:13 AM) Yes, you may as well. Thanks, although I just caught a little irony in it. In order for the Hawks to have home-ice for the rest of the playoffs, three road teams will have to win game 7s, putting into question the imporance of home ice.
  11. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 14, 2009 -> 08:22 AM) Might I say "Go Ducks and home-ice advantage"? Not to get ahead of ourselves, but can I add Go Hurricanes and home-ice advantage for the rest of the playoffs?
  12. Ludwick placed on the 15-day DL with the strained hamstring...
  13. QUOTE (Jim Spencer @ May 13, 2009 -> 11:47 AM) I'd like to see the Ducks win tomorrow so we could have Home Ice, but I think we could score more easily off of Osgood than Hiller. I agree, the home ice would be great. Watching the whole series, seems like Detroit has easily outplayed Anahiem, except for at goaltender, Hiller has kept them in the series. During the playoffs, facing a hot goalie like that could be a scary thing, as has been proven many times.
  14. Ex-Bull Corie Blount sentenced to year in prison for marijuana, gotta love the judges response to his claim that it was all for personal use. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4163416
  15. at least Uncle Cliff is at 87 pitches...with the way their bullpen has been, if we can get to them, theres always a chance
  16. ugh....why is he still in the majors??!?!?!?!
  17. Good to see us finally get a win out of Jose's spot in the rotation!
  18. wow, that lineup made me throw up in my mouth a little bit...have fun Cliff
  19. I hope Gavin can turn it around, but so far its looking like his agent knew exactly what he was doing when he told him to accept the extension in the offseason, the same one that Danks turned down.
  20. QUOTE (Sonik22 @ May 12, 2009 -> 03:03 PM) That game last night was awesome. I don't really care about all the bandwagon fans, it's fun to see people that don't really care for hockey getting excited about this. I've been a Hawks fan my whole life, I remember how excited i was for our playoff series against the Blues in 2002. This is 15416541x better I remember that series, I was down in Champaign, and we saw on TV that there still tickets available for the home games, which we couldnt believe. We got tix, drove up there, as the Hawks were in the midst of getting shut out for like 8 straight periods or so by Brathwaite. Not fun. The UC wasnt even sold out for the home games that series.
  21. I thought Hjarmlsson had a pretty good series as well. He doesnt do anything flashy or doesnt appear in the scoring book with points, but it just seems like everytime hes touching the puck, hes making a good play, getting the puck out of the Hawks zone, just being a solid defenseman.
  22. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ May 12, 2009 -> 12:42 AM) It's kind of a unique situation. I was a pretty huge Blackhawks fan up until the strike. I used to watch them in the Amonte/Nylander/Zhamnov/Thibault/Daze days and it was rough. Then I got older and the Hawks sucked, they weren't on TV, and the NHL was losing the greats that lured me in (Patrick Roy, Raymond Bourque) and my interest waned. Since the day the Hawks drafted Kane, my interest has gone up and up, and now being able to watch them on TV every game really makes it easier to be a fan again. There is a lot to be excited about. I'm the same way. Growing up as a kid, I remember loving the Hawks, convincing my parents to order HawkVision when they were playing for the cup against the Penguins, the freaking playoff games werent even on free TV. Then the lockout happened, hawks got bad, no games on TV, and as a youngster, kinda lost interest, still tried to follow them a little bit. Now they finally have good young exciting players, bought season tickets this season and its been incredible, especially the game last night.
  23. Good to hear, albeit a week or two later than it should have happened. Hopefully he can build off the success he had in his starts late last year, especially that one at Yankee Stadium.
