QUOTE (The Critic @ Sep 27, 2008 -> 08:23 AM) The Twins finally played someone else, so the "magic" # could go down. Its funny, cause its true!!!!!!! -
Javy on three days rest, in a big must-win game.....uh-oh.... either way, its still win out and head to Tampa for the ALDS, so GO SOX!!!

I don't necessarily disagree with you. I dont see how 6 or 7 extra innings this season could ruin Greinke's whole career, but I'd rather have my team look out for themselves and make decisions for their benefit too. What about the other side of the spectrum? Last night, Cubs bench 5 regulars, dont use their top setup man Marmol so he can rest for the playoffs, so they use crappy relivers which gives a game to the Mets, which could cost the Brew Crew or Philly a playoff spot. Do you try to fine them for looking out for themselves before the integrity of the game? Is it different when you are trying to win a champ. that season? I'm sure the Phillies and Brewers arent pleased either way...

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 03:14 PM) I'm telling you, the comish should fine the s*** out of Hillman for the Greinke travesty. Not that it will matter, though. If we were in 4th place, and the Indians were battling the Twins for the division this weekend, and we held back Danks on Sunday cause his workload was so high to protect him, would you expect us to be fined??
-
Lets Go KC!!!! they are fighting for 4th place, 1/2 game up on the Tigers...gotta stay out of the cellar and show some improvement Royals!
-
I see one big difference... The Yankees have been out of the playoff race since about August and never really seemd like contenders in their divison... The White Sox are heading into the last weekend of the season with their playoff destiny in their own hands...

I'll be at the game tonight....The hitting clinic we put on in Minnesota gives me little hope, but f*** it, its baseball, anything can happen. Let the 5-game winning streak start tonight and lets head to Tampa Bay!!!!!!!! -
QUOTE (DonkeyKongerko @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 07:56 AM) A GIDP, a meaningless 2-run HR, an RBI groundout on what should have been a foul ball and a meaningful solo HR. My Sox series MVP is still Buehrle at this point. I wouldnt call a solo HR early in a 3-1 game meaningless, its not all his fault they couldnt score one more run to tie it... I do agree, Buehrle is the series MVP, they way he battled when he didn't have his control in the first few innings, and the twins kept getting lucky....and he kept his compouse, got his control, and went seven strong...

QUOTE (tommy @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 04:00 PM) Griffey had 3 RBI's out of 3 we scored last night. I'm not surprised he's in there. I am surprised Ozzie has Dweezy leading off. I was expecting, OC, DW, JD, PK, JT, KG, AJ, AR, JU Actually, he had 2 RBI's, you dont get one when you knock in a run via GIDP... -

Blackburn is easily the worst Twins pitcher throwing in this series, and we have hit him before.....We need to score runs early, cause otherwise we seem to give up once we got down in the Metrodome... C'mon MB!!!!!!! Shut 'em down!!!! C'mon Ozzie!!!! Do NOT play Griffey or Swish in CF today!!!!!!!! -
I'm In! Crush the Twinkies!!

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 09:49 AM) Does anyone know of a site where I can find the career hitting stats of a team (ie, all of the batters currently on the team) vs a particular pitcher? yahoo has it for all players since 1987...just go to the players personal page on yahoo sports and click on the batter vs. pitcher tab....for example, heres Javy's career stats against evey batter in baseball... http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/5947/b...p;type=Pitching

Anybdoy get an e-mail from the Sox about the ALDS tix yet? Site says that the lottery winners will find out today. Sounds like the Rays already sent theirs out and my fiancee got an e-mail this morning from the Cubs. (Yes, she's a Cubs fan).

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 21, 2008 -> 10:52 PM) FRIDAY Jensen Lewis versus Jon Danks Jensen Lewis is their closer right now...rookie Scott Lewis is gonna start Friday...3-0 with a 1.42 ERA so far... -
QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ Sep 20, 2008 -> 08:12 PM) The Sox MVP for September has been the Minnesota Twins. No one has done more to make sure the Sox stay in 1st place. Post of the season!!! Every time there is a chance to take control of the division, the Sox lose and dont take advantage, but never fear. the Twins are there the next day to lose and keep us in first...with an extra special thanks to Matt Guerrier for doing his own part in keeping the Sox in first...
-
And if Broadway/Richard would have started and lost, everyone would have complained that ozzie is throwing nobodys out there in the heat of a pennant race. We lost today because our offense sucked. Davies faced the minimun for like 6 or 7 innings...if we are not gonna score runs against mediocre pitchers like that, then we are not gonna suceed...
-
And this year, D Lee has hit into a ridiculous amount of double plays, many in key situations...hence his nickname around Wrigleyville of DP Lee...

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 12:33 PM) Good start for Zambrano. So you're saying 110 pitches after returning from a sore shoulder isn't a good idea? I would have love to have seen Lou try to take Z out of the game when he had a no-hitter. I think Z might have murdered somebody just to stay in that game.

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 08:51 PM) Everyone acts like we've already lost all three at Minnesota. The pressure is still on them. Both teams have been horrible. They're still down. I swear to you they are not dancing in the streets over that Twins team based on today alone. Post of the month!! Seriously...I know we always have bad luck at the Twinkie Dome, but we are still in the lead right now and the Twins still have Matt Guerrier waiting in the bullpen for us...the division shall be ours!!! the playoffs...now thats another story -

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 08:36 PM) No, we're really not. Not with the 3 games looming at Minnesota. Anything less than a 1 game lead going there, and we're in a lot of trouble. You can throw KC's record out the window, as they're playing great, carefree baseball. It's pretty simple...if you can't score runs, you won't win. KC may be playing great baseball now, but their last four wins were against a Seattle team that threw in the towel 4 months ago.. Everyone seems to think that we dont stand a chance to even win one game at the Twinkie dome, which I disagree with, but as you said, if you cant score runs, you won't win, and we really need to start hitting, cause getting runners on base means nothing when you just strand them inning after inning... -

Wow, we have a 1.5 game lead against a team that just showed life for the first time in a month, that has three more games at the third best team in baseball, and the best home team in baseball, while we have three games at the third worst team in the AL, whose only two good pitchers wont face us, and this board sounds like the whole season is over....I mean, come on, I know, our chances in the playoffs are slim, but we are still in the drivers seat to win the division, when at the beginning of the year, no one picked us higher than third.....enjoy the pennant race and have some fun with the game of baseball!!!!! -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 03:29 PM) Actually, I think this is incorrect. He's been fairly durable, but until 2007 he always seemed to be hurt for a while every year, especially in April. He may have had minor injuries early in some seasons, but this is his 8th year, and 2006 was the only year he made less than 30 starts, and he made 28 in that season, so he hasnt missed very many starts

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 03:16 PM) He could of been taking the "who gives a flying f" approach, similar to what Yost did with CC. I believe Harden only has an option left for next year, and I don't think it's for huge money (if anyone knows what his contract status is, please provide). The Cubs might just say f it, let's see if he can hold together for 2 more months and make the best run we can at the WS. Yeah, but Harden and CC are two different situations. CC has been pretty durable his whole career and always takes the ball, so overusing him now probably wouldnt affect him until later down the line. Harden's right arm is liable to fall off at any moment, so over exerting him just once could easily knock him out for a couple weeks or more, which would make him useless for the playoffs.
