Thursday's win was so big, cause the next two days we face some tough, tough pitchers, and the guy Sunday may not be that good, but still shut us out with no problem last month. GO SOX!

QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ May 30, 2008 -> 08:00 AM) I think most of the people out in the St Pete area are transplants. Maybe they are fans of other teams? I think that has a lot to do with it, same thing in Arizona. IIRC the D-backs has trouble selling out their playoff games last year, and that was even with all the Chicago people going too.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 29, 2008 -> 10:26 PM) The only question I've ever had about an international draft are the ramifications on international free agency. What would have happened to Contreras, Ramirez, Matsuzaka, Ichiro, and the others as a result? Would there be a pardon to those that have played at a professional level within their own countries? It'd be complicated, but some form of an international draft would be for the best of the game. No doubt an international draft would be so good for the game, as it would keep the richest teams (Yankees, Red Sox) from automatically grabbing the best international guys, but, like ya said, the complications would be endless(assuming all older international players would automatically be in the draft too like college guys here)... -why would japanese teams give up their signed guys when they just got $50 mil from Boston just to talk to Dice-K -how do you decide between an 18 year old with all the potential or a 30-year old with experience that will contribute now... -does the worst team get the first pick in both drafts? i know the questions go on and on, just something i've thought about it a lot before

My biggest concern with Uribe as a utility guy on the bench is that he would bring nothing to the table as a pinch hitter. You cant bring pinch hit him when you need a bunt, or if you need to move the runner over, or even just a sac fly cause chances are he'll strike out.

Nothing makes the work day easier than a White Sox day game... i see paulie showing that his wrist is fine today with a couple of hits with a homer... -
Whatever they do with 2B, they need to make sure Alexei plays everyday, wherever it is. If they wanna use Uribe/Richar/trade at 2B, then send Ramirez down, cause it does him no good sitting on the bench getting 5 at-bats a week, he needs to play.

QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ May 15, 2008 -> 08:21 AM) Volquez 6-1, 1.12era, 48.1ip, 57 k or hamilton .293avg, 8hr, 44 rbi. The stud hitter or pitcher? What a trade that was for both teams! But gotta make you wonder about the Texas pitching scouts. They are always looking for starting pitching and they traded away Volquez and Danks, who they could definitely use now. Even Masset has probably performed better than McCarthy has been so far, granted hes been injured.

QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ May 13, 2008 -> 09:40 AM) Well the thing for me is Mark doesn't have to overcome his D once in a while. So far, I think he has had to overcome it one way or another, in every single start. That is when it becomes hard to just block it out and not try to be perfect. True that, and its much harder to overcome when you are a contact pitcher and cant depend on strikeouts as much to get out of jams.

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ May 13, 2008 -> 08:47 AM) So the back to back errors that put 2 runners on before Vlad were Marks fault? The definitely werent all his fault but a good pitcher doesnt collpase and start getting rocked as soon as his defense makes a bad play or two. Same thing with the 2-0 loss in Toronto, Crede made a 2-out error and Mark just gave up a bunch of hits in a row and that lost the game.

http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playernew...;filter_teams=A White Sox signed LHP Ray King to a minor league contract and assigned him to Triple-A Charlotte. King elected to become a free agent by refusing his assignment to Triple-A when the Nationals tried to demote him last month, but likely would have had better odds of getting back to the majors in Washington.

their offense has already been strugling so bad, that definitely aint gonna help. plus, if you choose matt stairs over frank thomas for your DH, you dont deserve to score runs.

QUOTE (YASNY @ May 10, 2008 -> 11:36 PM) Oh ... one other note. Greg Maddox got career win #350 tonight. good for him. kinda like buerhle where he doesnt have the nasty stuff, just knows how to pitch. surprised hoffman didnt blow it for him again

QUOTE (lostfan @ May 11, 2008 -> 12:10 AM) There are times when I half-jokingly wondered if we could just DH for Uribe and let the pitcher hit. with some of uribe's at-bats i would let contreras hit instead, and you know how bad he is

QUOTE (YASNY @ May 11, 2008 -> 12:05 AM) That throw to Home was the play of the game. yeah it was, Dotel could barely get it to him and Uribe threw a strike to Tubby
