Surprise: Rosenbloom article bashes Sox/Renteria

Why are you assuming that relationships and friends are more important than winning and a popular team? I think the latter is a better ploy than the former -

If the Sox had more Yolmers between 2009-2016, they would have made the playoffs at least once. Unless you trust the front office to have suddenly learned how to develop more guys like him, you keep him.

Surprise: Rosenbloom article bashes Sox/Renteria

Quoting Rosenbloom is the same as quoting the Onion. His job is satire. He picks the Bears to win 78-6 every week. -
2018 NFL off-season thread

It all seems so ridiculous, but there are plenty of fans that really do care about the anthem stuff. I've seen it plenty at Soldier Field. And I think the owners figure more fans care than don't care, so they went with this move. -
ESPN has exclusive rights to the primetime window on Sundays, but they will often let the Rangers schedule games Sunday nights as well, just because it is too hot to play during the day.

You have to name the shooter, it's gonna get out either way. When they start delving deep in to the why part, it sometimes can become glorifying for certain kids who feel they are in the same boat. And I don't know if there is much the media can do, the internet runs so deep, these facts or non-facts are gonna reach people on way or another. The most important thing is figuring out how to keep the guns from them. And if Dad just has them laying around, what can you do?

Guns are the problem, but the internet is definitely not helping. The next high school shooter is right now spending hours a night in those chat rooms or reading about the previous killers convincing himself to do the same, whether it be cause he's different or a girl said no. It's honestly the same type of shit that has found ISIS lone wolfs on the internet too. Now if these idiots weren't getting guns so easily the internet radicalization wouldn't have such dramatic consequences to others.

2017-2018 NHL discussion thread

In the 1966-1967 season, the Maple Leafs won the Stanley Cup Finals. There were 6 teams in the league. In 67-68, they expanded to 12 teams. The Leafs haven't been back to the Finals since. -
Last year's team swept the eventual World Series champions. It's baseball, they are going to win some games at some point.

Amazing. It would have seemed impossible in October, but watching them play now you can totally see how they have done it. It reminds me that when the Hawks did when the Cup, as awesome as the stars played, they always had a 4th line that could play with any other line on the opponents. The depth is huge. In Hawks' news, Hossa made it "official" that he is done. Best free agent signing in Chicago sports history. -
Sergio Romo to start for Tampa tomorrow

Theroetically yes, but realistically The best hitter on the planet always hits 2nd in the Angels lineup. -
Sergio Romo to start for Tampa tomorrow
LittleHurt05 replied to LittleHurt05's topic in The Diamond Club
The "starter" only had to face the Angels top 3 hitters twice, instead of 3 times. They guaranteed a better matchup for those first at bats. -
Can your wife not stay with Snoopy while you leave for a weekend? Those are quite the trips she is heading on.

We've had lots of talk about how starters aren't pitching very long anymore, specifically avoiding the 3rd time up against a lineup. The Rays have been taken it to a new extreme, having multiple bullpen days where guys are only expected to pitch 3 or 4 innings. Now they are going further and having Sergio Romo, a late inning set up guy, start the game vs LA tomorrow. Partly because his off speed stuff matches up well with the top of their order. This is the future of baseball I think. http://www.tampabay.com/blogs/rays/2018/05/18/rays-have-another-new-different-pitching-plan-starting-sergio-romo-vs-angels/

Looking back at that vote, other than a couple Senators, it was a mostly straight down party line vote, just like every other important bill it seems. Then maybe it shouldn't have brought it for vote yet if it was obviously gonna be filibustered. I don't know where the middle ground is given how many guns are already out there, you can't just pull an Australia in this country and take away all guns. But instead we just keep repeating this voting cycle, where one side is a majority, passes some laws, the voters get pissed and make the other side majority, then they vote in different laws, rinse and repeat.

To be fair, Chicago isn't really doing anything about it.

Because they are too busy picking left or right while pleasing their lobbyists to actually sit down and work on legislature together. Washington's refusal to compromise and work on a solution together is maddening.

Here we go again: Republican politicians offer thoughts and prayers, while Democrat politicians trot out victims to make you cry. Then at night they go all home and sleep next to piles of money while the citizens bury the dead.

We all know the Orioles front office is a joke so it could happen, but trading for Russell would make zero sense for them. The cupboard is Baltimore is empty, by the time they compete again Russell would be hitting free agency. They need more controllable talent.

I'm still mad about that US game in Trinidad, the fact that they failed to qualify out of the easiest qualification tourney in the world drives me crazy. But I'll still watch, it's always entertaining. Both of my parents are from Poland, so that's my second team to root for, hopefully they can make a run, I think they have a relatively easier group.
