I'm suddenly on Donaldson's side on this. IF Darryl's gonna whistle like it's T-ball, I have no issue with Donaldson doing the same in response.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Apr 3, 2018 -> 09:24 AM) Guy should only play against righties. I don't know if it's Theo's man crush or what, but for an organization that prides itself on following splits, playing to the averages, and putting their players in the best position to succeed, they sure seem to ignore all of those things when it comes to Schwarber.

I'm not in a hurry to dump Shields. It's already a sunken cost and the guy had been takingthe ball on cue. Last two months of 2017, he went 5-6+ innings with 4 ER or less every time. There is value in that if he still does it consistently

QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Apr 2, 2018 -> 04:46 PM) Didn't they win the series? They beat the Hawks that year, but I assume he is talking about the Stanley Cup Finals that year when the team scored 8 goals in 7 games and the city of Vancouver nearly burned down afterwards. They were speed bumps on the Hawks first Cup run, but still hell of a career. Henrik: 1,327 games, 1,068 points Daniel: 1,303 games, 1,038 points -
I can't imagine many other champions have won every game by double digits. Usually there is a close game in there or two

Didn't greg call Castillo a bum today? Never fails.

Advertising Boycotts When Celebs Say Stupid Things

This is a general comment and not a defense in this Fox case at all, but the swiftness with which social media outrage can destroy a person is scary. Every case is different and some are very justifiable, but say one thing or get caught on cell phone video in a compromising situation, and within 24 hours you can lose everything. Employment terminated, public name scorned, the works. And I don't know what you can do to get it back cause it will always be available via a simple Google search. It's crazy, especially with the react now, justify later mentality that social media helps instigate. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 2, 2018 -> 12:29 PM) Real petty stuff here from the Twins. They shifted while up 7 runs late in a game, with Berrios throwing a one hitter. Baltimore's hitter bunted for a base hit against the shift. Twins are pissed. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb/twins-...s-1508523114409 Is that Brian McCann's music I hear??

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 2, 2018 -> 12:18 PM) April weather sucks, March is even worse. They now start at the end of March. The first week should be in all warmer weather places or domes. It's ridiculous to play baseball when it's 35 degrees. Yankees snowed out today. Mets snowed out today. Great schedule. You want as many games as you can to be played. Its obviously not possible to create a schedule that guarantees they all will, but DHs take it's toll on teams the way the game is played today. It's time to be smarter with the schedule. They can get the Cubs 3 series on the road before their home opener because they are working on the stadium even though they would all be sellouts anyways. A team like the White Sox could use the same thing to make a little more money at the gate and concession stands. The players demanded more days off, so that's why it started even earlier this year. The ideal solution is to cut down the 162 game total, but the owners would never let that happen. You also can't force warm weather teams or domes to play the first week or two, when they'd make more money later in the year too.

QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 2, 2018 -> 12:04 PM) This Thursday, home Sundays, and the entire Cubs series at home. Gotcha, thanks!

What's Hawks schedule in the booth this year? I thought he was still doing road games, but I seem to be wrong.

QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 2, 2018 -> 06:24 AM) Obviously not confident but anything can happen, right? Guys? Other than the Warriors, no team can keep shooting 3-pointers that well, right? Maybe?

QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Mar 31, 2018 -> 08:24 PM) Because he released the f***ing punter? Does it really matter? Well he's one of the best punters in the league, but it's not just that. The moves I have heard in the past all sounds like he is trying to make the best team possible to win Super Bowl 43, not 53. -
QUOTE (Heads22 @ Mar 31, 2018 -> 06:25 PM) If Iowa State can't have nice things I don't want anyone else to. That's why Loyola had to be stopped (replace Iowa State with Illinois). They are already the only team from Illinois to win a title, we couldn't have them get back there, especially while Illinois is rock bottom. Now let's go Kansas (+4.5)

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Mar 30, 2018 -> 03:31 PM) The Raiders have inexplicably released punter Marquette King. He's one of my favorite players and a helluva punter. He has yet to hold a single practice but Gruden seems to be really f***ing up everything down there. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 29, 2018 -> 07:53 PM) Good for Seabrook, 1000 games with the same team is impressive. I do find it funny that they make the opposing team sit through these ceremonies too. That's an extra 10+ minutes sitting there, they could at least let them hang in the locker room, I've seen it happen before. And the Hawks starting goalie tonight is from Rancho Cucamonga. There's a first time for everything And the starting goalie from Rancho Cucamonga gets hurt, so in comes a 36 year old rookie from Johnnys Ice House who last played at Western Michigan 11 years ago. And he stops all 7 shots! -

I started trying to get my hopes up about the window opening in 2018 and the team competing this year. THen I saw the 4 outfielders on the 25-man. I'll go with 72-90. -
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Mar 28, 2018 -> 02:21 AM) All - I want to first off apologize for the extended outage and temporarily welcome everyone back to the forum. For those who didn't find the temporary site, when upgrading our back-end functionality (php / mysql) we ended up crashing our legacy server (which we had leveraged for a very long time). When the server crashed, we could have quickly restored via backup, however, opted to migrate our site to a new server with the latest bells and whistles. The upgrade was much needed, however, there were significant delays during the server migration (with our server company), which resulted in a far longer delay than expected. We will also be launching (in conjunction with the new server) and upgrading our forum software to the latest invision forums and are in the process of executing such upgrade. However, given how close we are to the season, I have opted to re-open these forums while we continue to fine tune (on a seperate test set) our overall upgrade to the latest Invision. This is partly because of the level of effort, but also because the new invision forum is significantly different and with our current forum customized (and relatively pretty), we want to make sure that we can make the user experience more seamless (or at least more seamless than the past 3 weeks outage). All of us at Soxtalk very much appreciate everyone's patience as we continue to move forward on enhancing Soxtalk and bringing all of you the latest and greatest forum technology. This new technology shall better integrate with social media while the server should enhance our bandwith capabilities to ensure Soxtalk is humming during the multiple playoff runs and world series this next generation Sox team is about to embark on! Now lets go Sox!!! I don't understand 75% of the words you used, but sounds like a lotta hard work that's gonna make it awesome in the end. Much appreciated!
