QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jan 7, 2018 -> 08:43 PM) I hope you Northwestern people enjoy your new RB coach. Congrats? -
QUOTE (KagakuOtoko @ Jan 6, 2018 -> 12:38 PM) I'm glad some of you are enjoying it. For a while I felt it would be annoying to posters but I have received some good feedback so far. I'll keep going until I get shut down Do you do research on things like Australian baseball? Or are you just winging it sometimes?

White Sox acquire Joakim Soria, Luis Avilan and $3 Million

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 6, 2018 -> 06:08 AM) If the plan for KC was to free up cash for Hosmer, Dayton Moore has either lost his mind or they are satisfied with their run and will be going to the old Cubs method of fielding a crappy team but keeping a fan favorite around . They weren't good enough with Hosmer, Cain, and Moustakas. How do they make their bullpen even worse and bring back one of these guys and think they have a shot? The sad reality is even if you get to the WS 2 years in a row, the small market teams can't keep their players. Sustained success is big boy only. One thing I guess Hahn mentioned in his conference call several times is that they expect Nate Jones to be good to go when the season starts. Careful with that name drop DA. If you think greg hates Soria, he holds a special place in hell for Nate Jones. The next nice thing he says about Jones will be the first. -
40 Man at 39, what do you do with the last spot?

The Golden Knights are fast -
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 5, 2018 -> 12:33 PM) Gruden getting 10 years somewhere around 100m LOL Maybe it works out, but holy moly, the guy has been out of coaching for so long too.

The DeFillippo hype train is running full steam on Twitter. If he is half the coach they say he is, time to plan the parade.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 4, 2018 -> 07:12 PM) The pessimism is well founded. he's that bad. Seriously, he may have made the decision for me to not get mlb.com this year. I'll go crazy watching him pitch. Perfect though, again, for those who want one more tank season. He's perfect cause nobody can accuse the Sox of tanking cause he has a name and makes a good buck. But he will get the tank job done. I'm not lying when I say Royals fans are rejoicing. It's better for them than New Year's Rockin Eve. Greg demands a better major league roster in 2018. Rick Hahn improves the talent roster for the 2018 roster Greg is furious. Sounds about right. -
Meh, that's not a case of forgetting about the White Sox. That's ESPN promoting to their viewers and only showing popular teams. Nobody else cares about the White Sox, so they didn't include them. There are no facts listed that would require them to be on the graphic.

Speaking of that, Gase hired Loggins in Miami, LOL

QUOTE (Tex @ Jan 3, 2018 -> 06:39 PM) From a distance (correct me if I'm wrong) it looked like the Bear's job was a bad deal when Fox took it and he helped, along with player's natural development, into a good to great gig for the next guy. Not quite Doug Collins setting the table for Phil Jackson good, but decent nevertheless. That's not the worst comparison. He did help with some defensive players. Until he was given a possible franchise QB in year 3 and refused to let him throw the ball.

Your last place Chicago Blackhawks, just realized that. It's such a cluster though, they really need to change the point format for overtime. 3-2-1-0 would be so much better -
QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 3, 2018 -> 10:53 AM) Yikes. I call whenever my bill goes up and make changes. Sometimes cut some stuff out. Roku has an xfinity app so I got rid of the box in my room which was $10 a month. Cut HBO cuz I get it for free with my ATT cell. I pay $140 a months with Showtime/Starz and sports package (Red Zone and Tennis channels, etc). Internet is 100 mbps or whatever. May cut Showtime when Shameless ends. Yeah, I'm kind of embarrassed to ever admit how much our bill is now. The few channels I do watch are only on their biggest package, I need some a la carte options. I can't even cut HBO/Showtime and all of that because it's "free" with the other channels I look for. I just find talking to them about it painful. And online they only let you add service, not remove service of course.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 3, 2018 -> 10:28 AM) Who knows? Pete Carroll was pretty much a flop until he wasn't. It was 3 years ago most thought John Fox was a really good idea. Maybe you have to be lucky as well. His staff is going to be important as well. I still think the key considering Trubisky is now basically thought of as the franchise by the front office, is going to be the OC. I actually think John Fox did exactly what people expected him to do. The team was an utter mess under Trestman, they stopped trying, they were fighting, it was a complete s*** show. The consensus was that Fox was a professional coach, and he would get them together to put out a true effort on the field, and for the most part they did. They loved playing for him. It was rare that they came out completely flat, usually when they lost big it was because of lack of talent, 4 QB turnovers, or his conservative game management. Which many people brought up the day he was hired, so that was never a surprise. Not a single person thought Fox was the next Super Bowl coach of the Bears, he was a placeholder. The results could have been better, but the tenure wasn't a surprise IMO.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 3, 2018 -> 09:20 AM) How much do you pay with Comcast where you are not happy? I see so many people complain about them but I have never had a problem with them. Well one, and it was stupid but the rectified it swiftly. I looked into streaming stuff as well awhile back but fear I'd miss too much sports. DirecTV Now was intriguing as well. Honestly I've never really had much of a problem with them, other than it being a giant pain in the ass to call them. And the new X1 system is pretty sweet and user friendly. It's just way too expensive for how little TV I actually watch. We have the triple play with internet & phone and it now exceeds $250. I can threaten to quit, they chop a little off for a year, but it's not much. I have all the premium channels, I ask to cancel them, but it's all "free" in my cable package so it doesn't change the price anyway.

2017-2018 MLB player movement rumors and reports

QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 3, 2018 -> 08:57 AM) Royals offered Hosmer 7 years and 147 mil. BAHAHAHAHAHA Please sign! He probably tops my most disliked player list, so while it would be annoying to see him 19 more times a season, seeing the Royals with an awful contract is great. He has had 3 pretty good seasons and 3 replacement player seasons. fWAR 2012: -1.7 2013: 3.2 2014: 0.0 2015: 3.5 2016: -0.1 2017: 4.1 -
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 3, 2018 -> 08:35 AM) Are you looking at any of the streaming services instead? Our Comcast contract is up at the end of the month and I'd like to dump cable, too. Yeah, we are looking at a combo of Sling, Amazon, and NetFlix. I think our kids watch more than we do nowadays, so we don't need much. I just care about the sports, and I think can cover about 80% of what I have now through Sling TV, so that should be enough. We've been talking about it for months, but it's now New years resolution #1. Comcast probably does have the internet so I might have to stick to them, unless WOW is serviceable. I don't think AT&T has fast enough speeds this area.
-
I'm finally about to pull the trigger on cutting the cord and getting rid of my cable TV with Comcast. I'd like to completely get rid of Comcast altogether, but they seem to be the best internet, but have seen mixed reviews for WOW. Has anybody in Chicagoland used them WOW at all? Not concerned about the TV quality, just more concerned with the internet.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 2, 2018 -> 04:38 PM) People have the right to do whatever they want. Nobody is saying Colin and the others can't kneel during the anthem. However it doesn't have to be a popular move. Again ... like I said, can the average Joe "protest" while at work? The answer is no. You'd be fired in many lines of work for calling attention to yourself via protest. I support Colin's right to do whatever he wants. I'm saying it's not a great way to protest something in a team sport. You are off on your own island. Why not attack the issue in a more productive way when you are offending military by the method you chose? Also you are protesting on company time so to speak when most people can't lest they be fired? Kaepernick has been unable to find employment again because of his protest, so he is just like the average Joe you mentioned protesting at their own work.

QUOTE (New Era on South Side @ Jan 2, 2018 -> 04:28 PM) How does Marvin Lewis still have a job? Sixteenth time's a charm they say, lol.
-
QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 2, 2018 -> 01:07 PM) Rough year with 8 decent but not good games from McCown, 6 from Manziel and 2 from Austin Davis. But his work with Carr in Oakland and Wentz in Philly are pretty incredible, and from what it sounds like he's been around and is one of those well connected coaches in that fraternity. I can see pros and cons, he would sort of be "chasing last years success" with the Rams, but definitely seems like when he's reported on he's one of those guys where everyone thinks he'll be a head coach. It was only a year or two in the Mountain West, but San Jose State had a solid offensive turnaround under him as OC.
-
The Eagles QB coach DeFilippo sounds intriguing simply due to the offensive success in Philly.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 1, 2018 -> 10:35 PM) I now am a Dabo Swinney fan. He doesn't care about PC in his answer on the anthem. So maybe I'm not the only one who doesn't like anthem protests. I like the way Swinney calls for Colin to protest in a different way. And like me he mentions the team part of all this. Breaking up team unity with one guy breaking away. A few days later, Dabo Swinney apologized to his team for his comments, for being a distraction and possibly breaking up team unity. https://sports.yahoo.com/news/clemson-lb-da...-201439371.html

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 1, 2018 -> 08:57 PM) Twitter hammering Lincoln Riley. Just killing him. The Bulldogs may not be good but they are not half bad. I can't believe Twitter was just killing Lincoln Riley for not passing the ball more in the OTs. Then Georgia wins on a 30 yard run in OT. Just.Win.Baby or get killed on social media. Did you want Lincoln Riley to run the ball with Georgia's offense? Really contradicting yourself just to insult social media critics. -
