  1. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Dec 7, 2012 -> 08:39 PM) Like I said, his stats say he's a nice young player that hasnt made an adjustment in 5 years. That's about it. I'm all in favor of a shakeup or a major trade but I hope it's for a more badass player. We need a #3 impact bat. Who exactly is more badass than Upton that is available? (Other than Hamilton) This is a 25 year old with 5 years experience, in a bad year he puts up a .800 OPS, in a good year it's nearly .900. And you would only owe him 3/$39 which is not a bad deal.
  2. This MSU-ND game has a Bondra & a Chelios playing. Good to hear Doc's voice.
  3. QUOTE (Baron @ Dec 7, 2012 -> 04:08 PM) Well yesterday Morosi wrote that we were in the mix for Jack Hannahan. He will probably decide soon. Hopefully he decides to not come to Chicago.
  4. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 7, 2012 -> 05:13 PM) Yeah sounds like $15.5 million over 2 years. The Diamondbacks have tons of pitching depth now. They are gonna need that depth when BMac gets injured again.
  5. FWIW, StiffArmTrophy.com is calling the Heisman race to Manziel. Where is Nate Silver when you need him?
  6. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Dec 7, 2012 -> 10:49 AM) Maybe, but for the players to accept another bad deal doesn't do them any good. Owners had to come way off. They "fixed" everything last time, the players took a terrible deal, owners throw around more money, then expect to just fix it by taking it all from the players again. Two way street here. To throw it on Fehr isn't fair. Owners got themselves into this mess, they need to compromise to get out of it. I'm more with the players than I am the owners, though both are ridiculously stupid at this point. I agree completely, I should probably clarify my earlier post. If it wasn't for Fehr, the players would have said "f*** it, let's just play some hockey" and the owners would have won. I'm not making Fehr the scapegoat, he's the reason the players are still fighting the owners for what's right. Better for the players & the sport in the long term, but sucks for the fans right now. But yeah, especially after the shenanigans of yesterday, both sides look like clowns.
  7. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 7, 2012 -> 09:44 AM) I read on twitter that the offer was presented take it or leave it, and Fehr tried to negotiate off of it and everything went downhill from there If it wasn't for Fehr, I think there would be hockey now, because the players would have caved.
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 6, 2012 -> 09:52 PM) OK in 292 at bats for the White Sox he hit .235 with 15 homers and 46 RBI. He did walk 37 times. For the year in its entireity he hit .235 with 19 homers and 60 RBIs. 51 walks isn't too bad. In September he hit .220 with three homers and a lousy 8 rbis. He had 22 strike outs in 91 at bats. Like most of our hitters, he choked or simply sucked down the stretch, however you wish to describe it. Those are not the stats of a 12 million buck a year player, especially at 34. He's also an average at best fielder. He was not special at all with the glove. I don't know who to compare his stats to in White Sox history, but if his name wasn't Youkilis I don't think people would be happy with that performance. Now you could say if he stayed with the White Sox an entire year in 600 at bats he'd hit 30 home runs with 92 RBIs. I guess if you believe that you give him 12 million bucks, but I didn't really see an all-star caliber player in Youk with the White Sox. Wait a second, stop the presses! Did greg actually use stats to back up an argument?
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2012 -> 08:48 AM) Eddie and Jobo got fired this morning. I still can't believe they got re-hired in the first place. Is there really that much of a lack of talent in radio that those two clowns were the best that 104.3 could do?
  10. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Dec 7, 2012 -> 08:42 AM) Miller is my pick for defensive player of the year. He is scary. Who is the MVP? I think it's a tough call this year. Tom Brady? Maybe a defensive guy like Miller or Watt can sneak in the voting? If you look at the top teams this year, most of them don't have that one guy that carries them.
  11. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 7, 2012 -> 06:55 AM) Think Miller has a .5 sack lead on Watt as of today. But it just seems Denver, despite Peyton, is still flying under the radar. JJ Watt really blew his chance to pad his sack lead against the Bears like Aldon Smith & Matthews did. I agree about Denver, maybe its cause their division is so weak? The defense got them to 8-8 last year with a fullback behind center, and now you have a Manning. They could be dangerous.
  12. What the f*** happened today? That's it, I am finally done following these negotiations. I'll be back when there is a season, either this January or next fall.
  13. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 6, 2012 -> 03:04 PM) Pellini is throwing his hat in the ring at Tenn. Good luck with that Vols. There's another ass-hat. Stop yelling for one second.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 6, 2012 -> 03:38 PM) Jerry Crasnick ‏@jcrasnick Ian Stewart signing a deal to return to #cubs, according to sources. Details not yet available. Wow. They might as just build that statue of Theo now. Just when I think he can't impress anymore, BAM, he makes another incredible move.
  15. 3 weeks ago in desperate need of a WR, I traded Stafford (I have RG3) for Denarius Moore, thinking he was about to go off. Now he is on my bench in the playoffs. Luckily I snagged Danario Alexander off waivers then too. (I bet Moore scores tonight because I posted this)
  16. QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 5, 2012 -> 10:21 PM) Given the likely cost, I'd prefer a player who has had more than one season of better than .800 OPS or more than 12 Hrs or more than 64 RBIs, especially when said player is 28 and has had several relatively unexciting seasons. He's had a .800 OPS or higher on the road in 4 of the last 5 seasons. Petco has killed his overall numbers. I wouldn't go as far to predict 35-40 homers at the Cell, but he can definitely be a top 5 or 7 3rd baseman in the league offensively if he leaves that park.
  17. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 5, 2012 -> 07:33 PM) I have it on pretty good authority that Alvarez will coach the Rose Bowl and there will be a press announcement tomorrow. Bielema hinted at it during his press conference.
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 5, 2012 -> 07:32 PM) The worst thing about losing AJP if the Sox do indeed lose him, will be the games the Sox play against him. As we all know, he's an amazingly likeable player when he is on your team. His antics in the 2005 postseason were legendary as he did everything possible to help us win games. But I'm going to hate people on this board turning on AJ, especially if he signs in our division and we play 18 games against him. You know he's going to want to beat the Sox so badly and he's going to do crazy s*** that infuriates our fan base. I pray he goes to the Dodgers or somewhere in the NL where we only see him a couple games. I can't believe at this point of his career AJ doesn't want to give the Sox a discount and play here 2-3 more years, then hang up his glove and remain in Chicago as a broadcaster/media guy. You know he'd be perfect at that. He should be one of those guys like Buehrle that retires as a Sox. Don't you agree it's going to be so annoying on here seeing our fans burying AJP if we play him 18 times??? It's going to be dreadful. None of the other four teams in the division need an everyday catcher, so he isn't gonna face the Sox 18 times. Maybe 6-8 games if he signed with like the Yankees.
  19. Congrats to Hawk for winning the 2012 Quote of the Year Show on B & B for his "sacks packed with seamen" observation.
  20. Well the players proposed an offer and the NHL countered and they are still talking. I guess that's better than both sides pouting and crying in their seperate corners.
  21. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 5, 2012 -> 05:21 PM) You know, i remember the same thing about Kevin Brown, but then you look at his baseball reference page and damn. He seems like he lived up to it to me. Wow, his numbers with the Dodgers definitely look pretty damn good for the most part, other than the injuries in 2001-02. It also helps that the Yankees took him for the last two years of the deal. Fun fact of the day: Browns QB Brandon Weeden was traded to LA in the Kevin Brown deal.
  22. QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 5, 2012 -> 03:50 PM) Joel Sherman said he heard from Youk's "colleague" that Youk didn't like playing in Chicago since the Sox didn't draw huge crowds. So is that why he hit so well at home then? Is that also why he's looking to sign with the Indians, whose attendance is even worse? Once a horse's ass, always a horse's ass.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 5, 2012 -> 01:46 PM) He fixed it. Jon Heyman ‏@JonHeymanCBS chavez gets to play at home with $3M #dbacks deal Yeah, I just saw that, deleted my post. He needs be more careful, you shouldn't be screwing up stuff that major.
