  1. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Nov 25, 2012 -> 05:02 PM) Um, wow. OK then, let's move on and pretend that game never happened. There was your "bad losses" column come bubble time. A loss there could have killed so many of the positive vibes from Maui. I will mark that as a let-down game due to all of the travelling from Hawaii, but at the same time I think it should serve as a reminder that we need to keep expectations at a reasonable level this year.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 25, 2012 -> 05:06 PM) That is a ton of points for a team that doesn't score too much. 39 points a game isn't "too much" in your opinion?
  3. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Nov 25, 2012 -> 03:11 PM) Bucs, Vikings, Seahawks, all 6-4 coming into today go down while the Bears win. Playoff picture infinitely better than 3 hours ago. Now how bout a GB L A Giants win would be great. Worried about all the Bears injuries though, Forte, Tillman, Louis, Spencer, Hester. Hope they aren't too serious.
  4. I finally benched Reggie Bush and started Mendenhall. -1.40 points later, ugh.
  5. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Nov 24, 2012 -> 04:09 PM) Updated Nov. 24: CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports that Jay Cutler has passed all of his concussion testing and will start on Sunday against the Vikings. La Canfora reported on Thursday, after Cutler put in a limited practice, that he was expected to start, but the quarterback still had to be cleared by an independent neurologist. Jason Campbell, mercifully, will be relegated back to No. 2 duties. Cutler is no more than a QB2 for fantasy purposes, but he is one of the more undervalued players in the league. His return bodes well for the entire offense's outlook. Good news. It turns out if the Bears lose, they drop to 3rd place and they suddenly gotta worry about making the playoffs, not just seeding.
  6. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Nov 24, 2012 -> 10:39 PM) Looks like both teams played like s*** offensively and NU barely pulled it out. How about the clock in that game? I have never seen a basketball clock played to hundredths of a second before.
  7. -Props to ND and their fans. I'm a major hater, but they beat all 12 teams on their schedule and that's what matters. Good luck beating the "unstoppable" SEC. -Lane Kiffin may actually be a worse coach than Tim Beckman. That goalline play calling sequence was brutal. -If Johnny Manziel doesn't win the Hesiman, then the Heisman voters need to join MLB's Hall of Fame voters in a labor camp in Siberia. He has more total yards than Newton & Tebow did in their seasons, the kid has been incredible.
  8. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Nov 24, 2012 -> 03:10 PM) unfortunately, Illini football is a cruel joke. Since 1997, there have been 8 winless seasons in Big 10 play. Iowa, Indiana, Minnesota, & Northwestern each have done it once, while Illinois did it the other 4 times. What's even more amazing is that they somehow fit two BCS bowl games into that span. Only Wisconsin, Michigan, & OSU have more.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 24, 2012 -> 10:41 AM) I'd put OSU and ND in the same grouping. At least Notre Dame beat Oklahoma & Stanford. OSU's only "quality" win is Nebraska. Their 4 out-of-conference opponents were UCF, Miami (OH), Cal, & UAB.
  10. QUOTE (Lillian @ Nov 21, 2012 -> 10:03 PM) Perhaps, but that would be what Hamilton has been asking, which is $175 Million for 7 years. It doesn't appear that any GM has been willing to give him that. He may not have any takers at that price. We'll see, soon enough I suspect. People give MLB GM's way too much credit around here. Jayson Werth got $126 million for 7 years at age 31. Someone will match Hamilton's asking price. It only takes one.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 23, 2012 -> 09:30 PM) Less than 1000 posts until the mythical 100,000 k. I didn't think it was possible. I consider myself a regular poster and I'm not even at 25 K. When will 2k5 meet this accomplishment? I'm going to go ahead and guess January 15. Balta is back, I take the under. December 19.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 23, 2012 -> 01:09 PM) They just cancelled through the 14th. And the All-Star game in Columbus
  13. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 23, 2012 -> 04:40 PM) ESPN Sources saying Percy Harvin is out on sunday That really helps the Bears. Cutler says he is ready to play, but he has to pass the neurologist's test tomorrow in order to play Sunday.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 22, 2012 -> 09:51 PM) Driving around town I saw a huge line in front of Target. I mean HUGE. What u think Target has that has people in this Kansas town going gaga? Autograph session by Ozzie Guillen
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 23, 2012 -> 09:07 AM) I have read multiple articles that talked about how much pitchers were able to add to their fastballs. I'm sure they did, but their fastballs were still just in the 90+ mph range, so they don't stand out that much. Not like batters who were suddenly hitting 50-60 homers every year.
  16. QUOTE (zenryan @ Nov 22, 2012 -> 10:21 PM) Gotta think that today's events eliminated 2 NFC teams from playoff contention. Maybe from wild card contention. It may only take 8 wins to win the NFC East, so Dallas/Washington are still both very alive.
  17. QUOTE (MuckFinnesota @ Nov 23, 2012 -> 08:58 AM) I'll wait for that official news article then. Some people do have an ear inside the organization, but there have been times that some people have been very wrong. This isn't to say that I am completely denying Youkilis is an ass, though. Can you enlighten me on Headley? How did the organization get tied to wanting him? Or was that speculation on our part? The Sox have a huge hole at 3b. Headley is a top-5 3b who may get expensive soon and the Padres have a prospect waiting in the wings, so they may contemplate trading him. Mostly speculation around here I think, plus the Sox probably don't have the prospects to get him, unless they give up Sale.
  18. QUOTE (G&T @ Nov 23, 2012 -> 06:08 AM) Except Roger Clemens...and Andy Pettitte...and Jim Parque. Those were all guys that were actually busted though. My point was that there are very rarely "whispers" about pitchers, like there are about hitters. Everybody hints that Sosa, Gonzalez, Brady Anderson, etc. were probably juicing. But pitchers aren't talked about like that, probably because it's so much harder to quantify the effect has steroids have for a pitcher.
  19. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Nov 22, 2012 -> 01:54 PM) See my post above. Touchdowns are automatically reviewed but if you throw the flag before the review it is not reviewable and the automatic review no longer happens. Exactly, and you get a 15 yard penalty. Same thing with turnovers I believe. Stupid, stupid rule, but called 100% correctly.
  20. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 22, 2012 -> 01:08 PM) This needed it's own thread? I blame the new moderator
  21. Good to see that Ndamukong Suh is still as dirty as it gets
  22. QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 22, 2012 -> 12:24 PM) I'm not giving up on him yet. Hasn't even played a full year yet, right? At least Webb keeps getting chance after chance. I agree, he has only played 12 NFL games, but he just looks SOOO bad at times, he has a long way to go.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 21, 2012 -> 10:53 PM) Why doesn't anyone ever ask if Pedro was on the juice? Many pitchers were during that time. Pitchers never get talked about when it comes to steroids. I think it's cause it's not as noticeable like it is with the home run hitters. It's not like pitchers suddenly start throwing 105 mph and striking out 20 a game.
  24. QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 22, 2012 -> 11:15 AM) Just saw a ESPN article saying Carimi will be demoted. Jonathan Scott will most likely start in his place. They actually use a 1st round draft pick on a tackle, and he sucks it up.
  25. QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Nov 22, 2012 -> 11:49 AM) The Lions making it look easy on offense Back-to-back 3 and outs
