  1. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 18, 2012 -> 08:16 PM) @RapSheet: Likely bad news for the #Patriots: Team fears Rob Gronkowski has broken his forearm, I'm told. Tests to confirm ongoing. On the extra point that made the score 59-24. Nobody ever gets hurt on an extra point, but wow. On a similar note, why the f*** was LeSean McCoy running the ball with under two minutes left down 25 points?
  2. QUOTE (zenryan @ Nov 18, 2012 -> 07:21 PM) Dooley out at Tennessee. He was never qualified to be there to start with. Should be interesting to see almost a quarter of the SEC scrambling to find a coach. Lane Kiffin may be available
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 18, 2012 -> 06:56 PM) It all goes to having respectability with your fans. The Marlins now have none. I wasn't talking about their fans or any of that stuff. From a roster standpoint, what they did is like what Boston or the Cubs did and makes sense for the future. That was my answer to the earlier question. Obviously all of the other stuff changes everything.
  4. Attended a childbirth class with the wife this weekend. I have never been happier about being a man, wow.
  5. fantasy sports/gambling, email, soxtalk, bank account, facebook
  6. QUOTE (kev211 @ Nov 18, 2012 -> 12:09 PM) Yeah when they play teams like Western Kentucky, Florida Atlantic, and Western Carolina that's easy. It's pretty amazing that 5 other SEC teams are ranked in the top 10, yet Alabama only played two of them. (They will play a 3rd in the conf. champ. game)
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 18, 2012 -> 07:54 AM) How does it set them up way better in the future? The fallout alone from this trade is going to cost them. Stanton will leave because there is no way he is going to sign with them. If these players pan out and they want to supplement them down the road with a major free agent, good luck with that. It's not like these prospects are can't miss. I think 1 is a top 100. If the goal is medicrity and yearly profits, then yes, it has set them up way better in the future. I just think if you get that much in public funds to enhance your private business, you owe the community a lot more than what Loria is doing. MLB should be horrified by this, and Bud should tell Loria it's time he left. They were not gonna win a WS with the roster they had. Some of those players, especially Buehrle, were signed to awful contracts. They got rid of those big money deals for players with potential and can rebuild for the future. Maybe the players don't pan out, but it's not like they were gonna win now anyway.
  8. With a couple more upsets, Ohio State can finish #1 in the AP poll. Chaos!!!!
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 17, 2012 -> 10:47 PM) Oregon has two tough games coming up, including facing UCLA who's playing pretty damn good. If Stanford beats UCLA next week, I believe the PAC-12 final will be Stanford/UCLA again. Oregon would only have the Civil War left.
  10. QUOTE (zenryan @ Nov 17, 2012 -> 10:40 PM) Well I figured a SEC team would find its way back but surprised on how. If USC beats Notre Dame, I sure as hell hope we don't get a SEC vs. SEC final!
  11. QUOTE (kev211 @ Nov 17, 2012 -> 10:36 PM) NOTRE DAME IS NUMBER 1 I don't know if they are the best team, but they are the only undefeated team and that's what matters. Beat USC & their genius coach and ND is deservedly in the final. And a good chance that they play a SEC team of course. BCS choas at its best.
  12. QUOTE (kev211 @ Nov 17, 2012 -> 10:12 PM) As much as I want a playoff system. I love that this happens in CFB. It's the only sport where every single play in every single game matters. And since my school will never ever be good enough to get screwed over by the current system, I love it. If the refs had given Stanford that goalline TD in South Bend, this OT could have two national title contenders with their season on the line. Every play matters.
  13. QUOTE (kev211 @ Nov 17, 2012 -> 10:00 PM) BCS Chaos. Who needs a four-team playoff when you can have this mayhem? Half of the SEC is holding their breath about this replay in Eugene.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 17, 2012 -> 08:25 PM) K St. didn't show up tonight. Manziel better win the Heisman. He's gotta be the favorite at this point, although that PAT try today was pretty bush league. Barring a miracle in Waco, we are one upset away from the SEC being in the chamiopnship game again.
  15. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Nov 17, 2012 -> 06:19 PM) I heard the refs tripped Barkley, you know, since they are all trying to help ND win. Actually, a ref stole a USC lineman's jersey and took his place on that play, that's why he didn't block that UCLA guy who crushed Barkley.
  16. QUOTE (zenryan @ Nov 17, 2012 -> 05:58 PM) If that wasnt holding on the Miller run in OT then I dont know what is. That was pretty bad. You know when the entire crowd yells about it, it's gotta be pretty obvious.
  17. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Nov 17, 2012 -> 06:10 PM) 11-0. And Matt Barkley got injured. Talk about the luck of the Irish.
  18. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 17, 2012 -> 02:08 PM) Spoiler free thoughts on a movie about Abraham Lincoln. F*ck that. He dies.
  19. QUOTE (zenryan @ Nov 17, 2012 -> 04:28 PM) So Maryland and Rutgers as possible additions to Big 10? That would be dumb. With Rutgers they are trying to add the NY market, but they have to realize that nobody in NYC cares about college football.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 17, 2012 -> 05:37 PM) I doubt he's back next year. Yeah, several of my in-laws went to SC, and most of the boosters & alumni just can't stand him.
  21. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Nov 17, 2012 -> 09:31 AM) Am I the only one that thinks this is a good move for Florida? Those contracts were abysmal and Florida gets talent. From a strictly baseball standpoint, it definitely sets them up way better for the future. The problem is that all the other stuff overshadows the baseball side of it.
  22. It will be interesting to see who USC's head coach is next season, if they let Kiffin stick around.
  23. Twitter is so awesome. I didn't stay up for the game, but this morning just going through my timeline, I got a blow-by-blow recap of all the game action, buffering issues, and fan reactions. Fun stuff. Illinois may still not be a tourney team, but it seems as if they will be way more fun to watch after the last few years of CorpseBall under Weber.
  24. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 14, 2012 -> 09:38 AM) Argo f*** yourself. The same to you sir. Awesome movie.
  25. QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 17, 2012 -> 01:41 AM) Hamilton won two years back even though he played something like 130 games. In this case, the fact that Trout missed a month is actually a strength in the argument for Trout. Trout was so good that if he did play for a full season, you could easily assume that he hits 35-40 home runs and maybe steals 60-65 bases. Plus, the Trout actually out-WAR'd Cabrera or any other AL player by at least 3 wins...despite playing in 20 less games. That speaks volumes to how good he really was. And considering that the Angels went 6-14 before he got there, you could assume they may have made the playoffs had played the whole year.
