  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 9, 2012 -> 07:43 AM) Who is this miracle 3B you speak of? Duh, Chase Headley? Haven't you been reading Soxtalk? The Sox are going to get him for 50 cents on the dollar.
  2. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 9, 2012 -> 01:34 AM) From my facebook status on getting a 98% on a History of the Mongols paper. "Goddam Mongorians and their s***ty Wall." 2nd best South Park episode ever
  3. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Nov 9, 2012 -> 12:38 AM) Hearing he was loved in the clubhouse is surprising. Everything I had heard was the complete opposite?
  4. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Nov 8, 2012 -> 08:30 AM) Not the easiest first three games that's for sure. Need to grab at least 7 points from those three fixtures in June. Feb 6 @ Hounduras (D) Mar 22 vs Costa Rica (W) Mar 26 @ Mexico (L) Jun 7 @ Jamaica (W) Jun 11 vs Panama (W) Jun 18 vs Honduras (W) Sep 6 @ Costa Rica (L) Sep 10 vs Mexico (D) Oct 11 vs Jamaica (W) Oct 15 @ Panama (D) Those results would give us 18 points, which would probably place us second in the group That looks about right. It's funny that while the competition is tougher, the Hexagonal is in a way much easier than the last round. With 10 games, you have way more room for error. Plus, 3 teams qualify, and the fourth one only has to beat New Zealand. Just don't finish in the bottom two.
  5. Finally some action in the Challenge, these rookies aren't going to be able to handle picking each other off. And Frank has to be the worst human being I ever seen in my life.
  6. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 8, 2012 -> 07:14 AM) US Draw for final round of CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying: Feb 6 @ Hounduras Mar 22 vs Costa Rica Mar 26 @ Mexico Jun 7 @ Jamaica Jun 11 vs Panama Jun 18 vs Honduras Sep 6 @ Costa Rica Sep 10 vs Mexico Oct 11 vs Jamaica Oct 15 @ Panama No sites determined yet for US home games. Not the easiest start. If you can get through those first 4 games with 7 points, they are set. Need to get at least 5.
  7. QUOTE (Joxer_Daly @ Nov 6, 2012 -> 03:45 AM) My beloved CELTIC - 125 years old today. Big win yesterday!
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 7, 2012 -> 04:45 PM) I got a kick out of the post election coverage at least on msnbc. Before the election they were saying how close the race was and a nailbiter, then the minute the thing is over they say the Republicans will never win a presidential election again, the Republicans are a disgrace, blah blah blah blah. Let me say this, if the Republicans have a better candidate for once or a more popular candidate, that person will win. That's how the majority of Soxtalk sounded during the 2012 season.
  9. QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 7, 2012 -> 04:02 PM) Tim Tebow's GMail account - courtesy of Grantland.com http://a.espncdn.com/photo/2012/1107/grant...winbox_1152.jpg Ha, that's funny
  10. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Nov 7, 2012 -> 02:47 PM) He's not saying that. Also, they can't control it now...but what of in 50 years? I happen to own a DeLorean with time circuits and a flux capacitor, and in 2048, the population of Chicago alone is 95% of the US. New York was buried in a flood caused by AGW, and California fell into the ocean from a 12.0 magnitude quake. Chicago is all that's left, so everyone came here. Except the people living out in the farm lands...but nobody cares what they think or need. Let me guess, the President is a Daley?
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 7, 2012 -> 02:08 PM) MLB ‏@MLB BREAKING: @Padres C Yasmani Grandal suspended 50 games without pay for testing positive for Testosterone, a performance-enhancing substance. Wow. That's a top prospect for them. IIRC, he hit well with some power when he got called up this season.
  12. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Nov 7, 2012 -> 02:07 PM) And THIS right here highlights my fear of a national popular vote. Wasn't another guy elected without even campaigning because hes in prison? Here we go.
  13. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Nov 7, 2012 -> 02:01 PM) You mean like how Daley and Rham won mayoral elections...quite easily, because there is a D next to their name? Or Jesse Jackson, Jr., who has been MIA, on drugs, cheating, doing god knows what else for the last 6 months, yet won 68% of the vote.
  14. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 7, 2012 -> 01:53 PM) Okay guys, one more thing, this summer when you're being inundated with all this American bicentennial Fourth Of July brouhaha, don't forget what you're celebrating, and that's the fact that a bunch of slave-owning, aristocratic, white males didn't want to pay their taxes. Say, man, you got a joint?
  15. Peanut may miss Sunday's game vs. Houston. His wife is due to have their fourth child any day now, if she goes into labor on Sunday, he won't play to be with her.
  16. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Nov 7, 2012 -> 12:17 PM) Then we have a hole in LF, SP, and C. No thanks. And you now have $5 million less to fill those 3 holes.
  17. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 7, 2012 -> 12:14 PM) Exactly, Nate's new job is way easier. He's essentially just analyzing constant snapshots. Fivethirtyeight final "projection" was based off that day's polls. In all honesty, the polls deserve as much credit for being spot on than Nate does. If some of the polls has been way off, so would have been his projections.
  18. QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 6, 2012 -> 05:14 AM) Can we move on from Ted/Robin? Christ! There is no chance she is the mother. I'm crawling to the finish line with this show. The Marshall sub plot was horrendous. Barney and Brover should have their own spin off. I caught up on a few episodes last night (not this Mondays though), and I may finally have to give up on watching. I think I might be better off just reading online who the mother is. The "Who wants to be a godparent" skit was some of the worst TV I have watched in a while.
  19. QUOTE (The Gooch @ Nov 7, 2012 -> 11:58 AM) I keep watching to see Rosetti get offended at stuff. Yup. I don't necessarily root for him, but he's the character I most look forward to watching.
  20. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 7, 2012 -> 10:59 AM) I think that got overblown and people didn't really buy it. He was still viewed as the better person to get us going economically. Race played a factor, though, for sure. 93% of blacks voted for Obama (racists!) and 71% of hispanics. I think Bush got like 44%, so that's a huge drop. And unmarried women really liked Obama more than Romney too. [i'll leave the easy joke about entitlements alone] That to me is why the GOP has to give up on the social issues. Even if you're apathetic to gay marriage or abortion, don't make that an important part of your platform. Keep it about the economy (the conservative/capitalist philosophy is always favored over the liberal/socialist one) and the government getting too big. They also need to stop throwing old, white, male candidates out there.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 6, 2012 -> 06:16 PM) It took about 1.8 nanoseconds to declare Indiana. I finally found one positive thing about Indiana!
  22. Fox News ‏@FoxNews Obama and Romney in a dead heat among undecided voters. Really? If they are truly undecided, then how do you know who they are voting for?
  23. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 6, 2012 -> 02:03 PM) He also struck out 5 times. As long as we are praising Dunn, check out his numbers with 2 out and runners in scoring position. It was only a year ago this very board wanted nothing to do with Carlos Quentin and his chance to make $ 8-9 million in arb for an .850+ OPS. Now they say you can't get an .800 OPS guy for less than $15 million per...... That's cause you would need another player to replace an injured Quentin for half the season.
  24. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 6, 2012 -> 12:49 PM) Rigged voting machines in PA. http://tv.msnbc.com/2012/11/06/machine-tur...one-for-romney/ LOL, that's a new one. I remember seeing a similar machine on the Simpsons.
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 6, 2012 -> 01:05 PM) The Secret Service just had traffic blocked on Congress. Another reason to vote for Romney. Stop dealing with Obama's damn traffic jams.
