  1. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 2, 2012 -> 10:31 AM) Staten Island devastated Yet the New York marathon must go on! (I believe it starts on Staten Island)
  2. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Nov 2, 2012 -> 03:10 AM) Asking price for Headley is atronomical. Talks would begin and end with Sale. If you look at his numbers away from Petco, he might be a top-3 3rd basemen in the league. People on this site seem to greatly underestimate what it would take to get Headley.

  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 1, 2012 -> 06:48 PM) Because I think he's about as good as Braxton Miller and I dont consider either one of them the best player in college football. Its my opinion, you dont need to try and change it. Whoa, don't take it personal. In that case, who would you have as the top Heisman candidates at this point in the season?
  5. QUOTE (YASNY @ Nov 1, 2012 -> 06:34 PM) That's Moustakas, not George Brett. Well done!
  6. If my Facebook feed is any indication, there are going to be a s***load of Bears fans in Nashville this weekend.
  7. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 1, 2012 -> 03:07 PM) I'm not sold on WV either. I dont think the Big 12 is very good, which I think we saw with Oklahoma last weekend. I don't think Klein is worthy of Heisman consideration and I think that Oregon has more playmakers especially on offense. ND's defense IMO can stack up against Bama, although that game would be boring as f***. How is Klein not worthy of Heisman consideration? He's 2nd in the nation in passer rating & rushing touchdowns. His team is 5th in the country in scoring and undefeated in a major conference. How is that not Heisman worthy? It's not about talent or NFL chances, it's about producing on the field and I don't know how you argue with that.
  8. Chris Conte was fined $21,000 for his hit to the head of Brandon LaFell. Conte makes $27,353 per game.
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 1, 2012 -> 02:28 PM) Good point. That gives me hope a team like the Royals might wise up and give Ozzie a chance. IMO he would do wonders with young players. What exactly from Ozzie's past makes you think that he would be good with young players? Other than maybe Dusty Baker, I couldn't imagine a worse manager to hire for a young team.
  10. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Nov 1, 2012 -> 10:45 AM) I'd trade for him if I thought I could rip up the deal and get him for 2-3 years with a lower base plus incentives. I'm assuming though that his option will be declined & he will be on the block as a FA. I just looked it up, the Angels have until tomorrow night to decide if they want to pick up the option or let him become a FA. We will find out soon.
  11. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Nov 1, 2012 -> 10:31 AM) Edit: Also re: Haren, he's exactly the type you target if it's possible. The Sox medical staff is excellent, and if they think they can keep him healthy, it's an awesome buy low opportunity. You'd have a rotation filled out for the next 2-3 years which would allow you target talented SP prospects in A+ or below, and then look for a good pitching prospect to *force* his way into the mix, rather than just handing a job to someone like Castro because you think he may have a pulse. If you trade for Haren and pick up his option, he is due $15.5 million in 2013, then he becomes a free agent. IF he turns it around, then he suddenly is on the market and will command a huge contract.

  15. QUOTE (balfanman @ Nov 1, 2012 -> 06:59 AM) And then Rizzo plays where exactly? In a 1b/DH rotation with Konerko
  16. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Oct 31, 2012 -> 04:43 PM) How so? From what was always hinted at on various media reports was that while Youkilis does give 110% on the field, in the clubhouse its's all about "me, myself, & I".
  17. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Oct 31, 2012 -> 04:26 PM) Ervin Santana + Cash to the Royals for minor league RP Brandon Sisk. That's a damn low asking price. He is coming off the worst season of his career and will be 30 and a free agent after 2013. If he has a bounce back year, he could be a good trading chip at the deadline.
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 31, 2012 -> 01:22 PM) The Giants support my theory. Thank you. Detroit hasn't completed the deal. They have all these high priced players who are going to want to win the WS. Had they won it all, maybe they'd have lost that edge, yes, been complacent and/or lazy. You guys deny the mental edge of baseball? You think it's not possible Rios gets complacent and lazy after last season? What's your opinion on the 2006 White Sox 2nd half collpase? Were they so complacent with their WS title, that they stopped caring in the 2nd half? (while they played .650 baseball in the 1st half). Did Mark Buerhle get lazy in the 2nd half and have the worst half of his career (6.44 ERA) simply because he lost his mental edge? Shouldn't the manager have done something about that?

  20. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 31, 2012 -> 03:04 PM) There have been reports that he did not particularly care for being in Chicago nor did the team particularly care for him being here. You say all the right things in the public eye but I too do not believe there is a lot of mutual interest in renewing their relationship. It doesn't mean both parties won't explore it. I'd put Youkilis coming back to the Sox at about 10%. From all prior reports I had seen, it had seemed that Youkilis was a giant horse's ass off the field, so everything you say sounds about right.
  21. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Oct 29, 2012 -> 01:45 AM) Boardwalk was decent, but not that exciting. Jillian's storyline with Indiana boy was good though. I had no idea where she was going with that, I just thought she was going to keep him around to fill Jimmy's void. But are they really that bad at identifying people 90 years ago that they can't tell he is a different person? I mean, it's not like she disfigured him or had him rot for a few weeks. Anyone should be able to tell that's not Jimmy. I totally saw that whole story differently. I realize that Jimmy had to be declared dead for Jillian to be given control of the house. The way I understood earlier scenes were that it wasn't about finding his body, it was more about Jillian not willing to accept his death. That's why she kept saying "he's prone to long disappearances". That if she was just willing to admit that he is dead, they could make it legal. (it is the 20s) While the whole thing with the Roger did help produce a dead body that looks like Jimmy, I thought that was all about Jillian mentally. She finally was ready to admit Jimmy was gone, but she wanted one last fun sexual romp with the love of her life "Jimmy" so that's what it was mostly about. Obviously she is sick like that. After hearing other people talk about it, it seems like my thought process is wrong, but it makes sense to me.
  22. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Oct 31, 2012 -> 11:19 AM) Lol yes, my sad sad life continues. My back couldn't take lifting 40 75 pound airplane parts of the ground and apparently thats what the job is like all day. Boss mam said if youre back couldnt take that I'm gonna have to let you go before you hurt yourself. Well that sucks, sorry dude. If the job requires that much labor, you would think they would mention that before actually hiring someone and bringing them on.
  23. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Oct 31, 2012 -> 11:36 AM) Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal Story from late last night on possibility of #Angels trading Santana, Haren. One exec predicts both will be moved. Interesting. What would their rotation look like after Weaver & Wilson if they don't re-sign Greinke? Even if they do re-sign him, that's still two spots to fill.
  24. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 31, 2012 -> 11:47 AM) Give me some data that shows the frequency and intensity has increased as compared to a hundred years ago or 50 years ago. And NOT just because the reporting of those events has gotten better and i'll concede that you're right. A big factor too is that there is so much more to be damaged nowadays than there was in the past. More population, more buildings, cities expanding outward and upward. Of course the financial damage nowadays will be dramatically increased.
  25. QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 31, 2012 -> 11:22 AM) Yes, I understand his value, which is why I think he would be a prime candidate to trade in order to fill all these holes we have. Where it gets difficult is in the fact that off the top of my head, it seems as though the team giving up this type of player rarely wins the deal because of the difficulty in projecting prospects. That being said, we have a number of holes right now, including catcher, third base, and soon, first base, as well as a lack of solid pitching prospects. If you could address several of these gaps by trading away one player, I would at least listen. Not saying you even have to pull the trigger, but you see just how much someone would give you. It could fix a lot of gaps fairly quickly. And if you think Sale has a injury in his near future, he definitely could be a top candidate to trade.
