  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 24, 2012 -> 01:30 PM) 1.) Why does the cussing get old? I still say Loria is a hypocrite for laughing his butt off at the F bombs and loving Oz's personality before all the losing began. 2.) Maybe, but I don't think he's said crazy things in as studio host. 3.) Can you deny Heath Bell loafed in the offseason to get that lousy? 4.) The Miami players failed. Again this is a case of assessing too much blame to a manager. Players play. 5.) I think Loria was pissed he got called out by a guy who was supposed to be afraid of the big, bad owner. 6.) Loria didn't give him a solid team. Bell was a critical piece who was a joke. Lotta bums in that clubhouse, but one stud admittedly in Mark. They don't need Buehrle now in rebuilding. We have pieces to trade. Get him back IMO. So you believe Ozzie doesn't deserve much credit for 2005 anyway, since it's the players that play? Interesting point greg, I'm sure many here agree with you.
  2. Winning the WS so quickly in Chicago was as much a curse for Ozzie as a blessing. Obviously it's a great honor & accomplishment and he will always be remembered in Chicago. But it raised his already inflated ego through the f***ing roof. Also, he suddenly thought that managing was so easy and he knew everything. When his teams started to falter, he just cried & b****ed & made a fool of himself instead of you know, managing the team. He was never humbled, and I doubt this will do it either. I don't see how a team could hire him as manager, unless Caracas gets a MLB franchise.
  3. QUOTE (jamesdiego @ Oct 23, 2012 -> 03:21 PM) Sex sells.....I'd say some T n A would help get some more butts in the seats. Look at what the Blackhawks did adding in those scantily clad ice girls. They do it right in Latin American Baseball. We need to import these girls and get rid of the ones we have. Put them on the dugouts and on the centerfield concourse........and there you go, problem solved. I'm serious, let's do this Brooks And of course in the first video you posted the stadium is half empty. And the chicks in the second video, meh.
  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 24, 2012 -> 11:09 AM) One thing is for sure, there shouldnt be alot of defense played in that game. Have you seen Illinois' offense? Their opponents play good defense without even trying.
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 24, 2012 -> 08:10 AM) I don't know about his bat speed per se, but when he originally hurt his oblique he was hitting .205 with an .820 OPS, and was on pace to shatter the single season strikeout record. If anyone wants his contrct, the Sox would be foolish not to oblige. He can have all the bat speed in the world, if you swing and miss, it doesn't matter. Exactly. Everyone got so excited because he was "back", but his numbers were still worse than his average season in Cincinnati.
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 23, 2012 -> 10:09 PM) Hopefully the Tigers complete the deal, but the NL has had the AL's number lately in the WS. If Detroit wins, they may be complacent next season which will help the Sox and any other contenders in our division. I doubt they get complacent, but some of their pitchers could get tired arms, like the 2006 Sox.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 23, 2012 -> 08:56 PM) Benji, the 30 for 30 tonight, might be one of the best documentaries I've ever seen. Cool, I've been waiting for that one to come out, got it on the DVR ready to watch. For all the garbage that ESPN produces nowadays, 30 for 30 is the one thing they have done right.
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 23, 2012 -> 03:17 PM) He did have the second lowest OPs of his career. iMO, he is definitely on the downside, injuries or not. I'm with you. At the All-Star break his OPS was still only .859, and I believe that was pre-injury. In the last 8 seasons before 2011, he only had one season worse than that, and then it was only at .855. He's not done for, but I don't think we can expect all that much more than he did last year.
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 23, 2012 -> 05:43 PM) To the Ozzie haters out there. Seriously. How many men in this kiss-ass-to-get-ahead world would have the guts to say this to the man who signs the checks? From Passon's excelent article on Yahoo. ... Yeah, and?: Well, one of our former managers, Fredi Gonzalez, told the Miami Herald: "There’s not a manager dead or alive that Jeffrey thinks is good enough. Not Connie Mack, not anyone." Even Ozzie, when still employed, zinged Jeffrey good: "Look yourself in the mirror and ask why so many [expletive] managers come through here." It got him fired but should make Ozzie a hero to the working class stiffs of America who can't tell their rich prick clueless bosses to f*** off. Those working class stiffs spend their hard-earned money on tickets that help pay Ozzie's million dollar salary, yet he has talked s*** about the fans, his teams underperform, and he admits that he doesn't do s*** at the stadium and doesn't really care either. Yes, what a hero to the lower class worker.
  10. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Oct 23, 2012 -> 06:32 PM) Absolve KW of any blame for Thome, but Guillen gets the credit for Garcia then. Ozzie was involved in the negotiations with Seattle to trade for Freddy Garcia?
  11. The Marlins still owe him $7.5 million, although I'm sure the taxpayers of Miami will just be covering that.
  12. Heads up to the ladies of Switzerland, Kaner is on his way! Patrick Kane @88PKane Excited and thankful to join EHC Biel in the Swiss league. Looking forward to the experience
  13. Three previous times (1988, 2006, 2007) has there been one LCS sweep & one LCS 7-game series. All 3 times the team that won the 7-game series went on to win the World Series in 5 games or less. Hopefully that trend continues. f*** Detroit.
  14. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 22, 2012 -> 01:17 PM) It's difficult with the lack of TDs forte is given with Bush. Exactly. I need Forte to break a long TD run early, a defensive TD, then some garbage points from Megatron with the Bears up big.
  15. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Oct 22, 2012 -> 12:25 PM) Lets get out the vote for Obama.. I'm gonna cancel out your vote.
  16. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Oct 22, 2012 -> 10:14 AM) You honestly can't go wrong with either trip. Also, feel free to checkout this site for cheap airtravel (watch out for baggage fees though): http://www.skyscanner.com/ I used it for every flight when booking my backpacking trip, gives you every airline essentially, with flex times and even shows you alternate times/routes for cheaper flights. If you decide to train it (which I recommend for the shorter travel), you most likely will have to buy tickets at the train station if it's just a domestic train. International train rides can be bought online typically, just fyi. Definitely watch out for fees if you fly Ryan Air. It's worse than flying a US airline, but man is it cheap.
  17. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Oct 22, 2012 -> 09:29 AM) If Megatron has a good game it hurts the Bears D. Unless he gets tons of yards in between the 20s, then Stafford repeatedly turns it over in the red zone. It could happen, right?
  18. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Oct 22, 2012 -> 08:53 AM) You would love it, seriously an amazing country, I wish I had more time to explore the countryside and smaller towns, but Barcelona was flat out amazing. Totally. I went to Madrid in March and absolutely loved it.
  19. I need 61.4 points from the Bears D, Matt Forte, & Megatron. I guess it's possible, but probably not.
  20. With your season on the line, who else would you want to see on the mound but Barry Zito & Ryan Vogelsong?
  21. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 21, 2012 -> 09:29 PM) @AdamSchefter: Joe Flacco’s Total QBR, a metric that accounts for everything a QB does, was 0.3 on the 0-100 scale, the lowest rating for any QB since 2008 It's amazing how much the Ravens have ignored Ray Rice all year, he's a top 5 RB in the league. They seem to think Flacco is Brady or Manning.
  22. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 21, 2012 -> 08:41 PM) So we've narrowed in on going to Budapest, Prague, and Vienna. Might make a day trip to Bratislava (assuming their is a train back, haha...good ole Eurotrip). Anyone been? Any recommendations? Will be arriving on a Friday in November and returning to London (where i'll actually go back to work) on the following Sunday AM (so 8 nights total). Prague is outstanding. So much history, there are so many old castles, they were one of the few cities that was left relatively unharmed from World War II. You can stay by the Old Town in the main part of the city, tons to see within walking distance. And it's super cheap.
  23. Anybody still watching The Challenge? Is it just me or this the worst season ever? Maybe it's because I don't know half this people, or maybe these people just suck at life? Pretty weak season though, really hoping that Brooklyn or Vegas hang on and win it all.
  24. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Oct 21, 2012 -> 07:30 PM) The Cardinals are the worst. I hate their team and fans. Giants are my last hope. I didn't mind them as much in the past because of the grief they would bring Cubs fans, but now it's just getting ridiculous. They need to be stopped.
