  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 7, 2012 -> 01:53 PM) While I agree managers get too much credit and too much blame, you must realize Ozzie did something in the 05 postseason that was kind of groundbreaking. He had the balls to leave in his starting pitchers in the games; had that not worked, people would have wanted his butt run out of town. There was no mixing or matching of bulls*** lefty/righty stuff. He left our starters in the games. Groundbreaking? Let's take a look at each game for a second. Game 2: Buehrle threw 91 pitches thru 8 innings, 99 thru 9. The Sox offense was dormant and with the score tied, there was potential for extra innings so you needed to save the bullpen. Game 3: Garland had thrown 105 pitches through 8 and retired the last seven in a row heading into the 9th. Toss-up whether most mangers would have used their closer. Game 4: Sox had a 6-run lead and Freddy had only thrown 104 pitches thru 8 innings. Easy decision to leave him in. Game 5: Contreras was only at 103 pitches and had retired 12 in a row heading into the 9th. Made sense to leave him in. None of these pitchers faced major jams in the late innings that Ozzie let them fight through on their own. They were cruising so he let them be. Good decisions by Ozzie, but hardly "groundbreaking".
  2. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 8, 2012 -> 10:26 AM) At some point in the third quarter Brandon Marshalls stats came up, 10 catches 99 yards. I remember thinking to myself "HOLY s***" and thinking that it didnt seem like he had that many catches. The guy is just an absolute machine. First Bears receiver with back-to-back 100 yard games since the great Marcus Robinson in 1999.
  3. A Bears fan from Lake Villa was stabbed to death at a Jacksonville bar Saturday night
  4. QUOTE (forrestg @ Oct 7, 2012 -> 06:51 PM) He has plenty of fans from Eureka il that would come to see him play. Our attendance issues are solved!!!!
  5. Sarah Jones: Former NFL Dancer and Teacher Will Take Plea Deal in Sex With Student Case
  6. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 7, 2012 -> 07:30 PM) 10/07 8:15 PM ET SC NFL SFO - QB Alex Smith injured finger on his throwing hand while making last pass during 45-3 rout of Bills I remember seeing a finger injury like that last November. It ruined the Bears entire season.
  7. Catching up to tonight's Boardwalk Empire episode Gyp Rosetti is the s***. Great character addition
  8. Wow, Bears D. Peanut & Briggs both with TDs in each of the last two games. The scary thing is that Urlacher still looks slow & injured. If the two weeks rest can get him going, this defense could be even better.
  9. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 7, 2012 -> 05:40 PM) Cutler and Marshall connection. Great game for the Bears O in the second half. It's fun having a real wide receiver on the Bears. Some of Marshall's skill seems to have rubbed off on Hester too, great catch earlier. Hope that Jeffrey's hand is OK.
  10. Peanut!! Feel much more comfortable now, trap game written all over it.
  11. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 7, 2012 -> 04:26 PM) Seriously. Offense hasn't been good either. They get just far enough to not be in field goal range. 2 drives, 28 plays, 153 yards, only 6 points. You can't let JAX stay so close, anything can happen
  12. Gio had a no-hitter thru 3 innings, yet had given up two runs. Pretty ridiculous that the 98 win Nationals had to go to STL for two games against the 2nd wild card 88-win Cards.
  13. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Oct 7, 2012 -> 03:43 PM) GB loses! man soxtalk is dead today. The Reggie Wayne show on that final drive. That's big for the Bears, but if they keep giving up 3rd and longs to Blaine f***ing Gabbert, this could be a tougher game that it should be.
  14. This would be a perfect time for the league leader in GIDP to do it again
  15. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Oct 7, 2012 -> 12:32 PM) Not a fan of only getting Cleveland vs NYG at noon. Really surprised we didnt get GB vs Indy. GB/Indy is on FOX, which is only allowed to show one game today, CBS has the doubleheader. Since the Bears are on FOX at 3:05, we don't get any noon FOX games.
  16. This article about Pat Neshek returning to the mound almost made my cry http://sports.yahoo.com/news/pat-neshek-ma...dGlvbnM-;_ylv=3
  17. QUOTE (pktmotion @ Oct 7, 2012 -> 02:44 AM) --------------------------------- CF Alejandro De Aza 3B Chone Figgins 1B Paul Konerko DH Adam Dunn LF Chris Davis RF Dayan Viciedo 2B Gordon Beckham C Tyler Flowers SS Alexei Ramirez Dunn & Davis were both top 10 in strikeouts this year, and we know how boom-or-bust Viciedo can be. That just sounds like an awful combination.
  18. Don't worry, if anyone knows how to work his bullpen to excess, its Dusty Baker. He's got this.
  19. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Oct 6, 2012 -> 09:28 PM) http://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/article/A-s-...p?cmpid=twitter f*** the fans. You don't show up for years and all of a sudden you want the seats open? Gimme a f***ing break.
  20. QUOTE (Jake @ Oct 6, 2012 -> 04:19 PM) Take it to the 'Buster
  21. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Oct 6, 2012 -> 02:02 PM) A's, Money Ball was the s***. That great movie that never mentioned the roided up MVP or the starting pitchers they drafted in the early rounds.
  22. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 6, 2012 -> 05:11 PM) Can we fire Beckman yet? Can we re-hire Ron Zook? It can't be worse.
  23. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Oct 5, 2012 -> 03:23 PM) I agree there's a line, the line is different for everyone and not easy to find. I find out years later we were big-time paying Dee, Deron, their families, et al? I'm pretty furious. Not "hey, it was a great run though." Tainted in my mind forever. That's the stuff I'm talking about. I don't want to be so damn dirty just to get a championship...because I won't look at it the same way anyway, so what's the point. How would it be tainted? Dee & Deron may have been paid, just like their opponents in the national championship game were? I'm sure that all of those 6 NBA draft picks on UNC were clean too. Luther Head was stealing from fellow students? Does that taint your Final Four run? QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Oct 6, 2012 -> 01:33 PM) The memory would be nowhere near the same. Would your memory suddenly forget the elite 8 game vs. Arizona like it never happened? Doubtful.
  24. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 6, 2012 -> 10:59 AM) Right, meaning its not a reach that he'll move on from UK. He'll be in the NBA within 5 years. What does he have to gain in the NBA? Right now he is his own boss. He has his own pick of free agents every single year. His fanbase adores him even if they happen to have a bad season(which may never happen). He goes to the NBA, he has to listen to an owner, his roster is limited, he has to impress the corporate fanbase. Whats the point?
