  1. McIlroy/McDowell vs. Furyk/Snedeker has to be one of the biggest mismatches.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 28, 2012 -> 09:09 AM) [/b] I agree with this 100%. I honestly wonder if it contributed to some of the injuries to key guys as the season wore on. I'd say it was his biggest failing as a manager. He was scared to face Soxtalk's "Sunday lineup" rage that usually occurs anytime a regular sits. Our bench seemed to be extra less talented than normal, even before Escobar & Lillibridge were traded. Maybe it was just a lack of trust in their ability to contribute at all? Especially the infielders, like Hudson & Olmedo. Once Wise came around and played well, he was very willing to sub him & Viciedo out.
  3. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Sep 28, 2012 -> 07:28 AM) I think the Tigers will do no better than 4-2 in their last six, but I see no chance of the Sox winning 6 in a row, or even 5 of 6. Exactly. With no Scherzer & only one Verlander start, I can easily see Detroit going 3-3 on the road. That would require the Sox to go 5-1. A month ago I would say it could happen, but with the way this team has looked over the past 10 games, I don't think so.
  4. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Sep 28, 2012 -> 08:02 AM) USC, Oklahoma, and Stanford have now all been upset. ND's strength of schedule just went down the drain. A month ago, 10-2 would have seemed like an amazing accomplishment. Now not so much. Either way, a 10-2 Notre Dame makes a BCS bowl, and that's all that matters in the end.
  5. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 11:27 PM) Good post. I've been wondering where the media outrage has been as well. Sox are going to get let off easy. The media would have to care about the White Sox for there to be any outrage. The Bears are 2-1, the Ryder Cup is in town, why waste time on the Sox? They didn't really jump on the bandwagon until after that Detroit makeup game anyway, it was pretty easy for them to jump off.
  6. Thanks! Heading to Vegas tomorrow to celebrate my 30th and hopefully turn this Sox bad luck into some good luck!
  7. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 11:15 PM) Washington up on #8 Stanford by 4 with 1:46 left and they have the ball. Always bet against ranked teams on the road on Thursday nights.
  8. IMO, the turning point was Viciedo v. Chen with the bases loaded, no one out, in that 2nd Royals game last week. Tank had some struggles this year, but one thing he always did was crush LHP, especially Chen. That was a moment to break the game wide open, score some runs for your ace. He aimed for the fences, popped it up, so did Alexei, and there went that game. Maybe that creates some momentum, even if it didn't, the Sox could still only be one game back right now.
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 03:17 PM) Groce will get his guys, give it time. I'm drinking that orange Groce Kool-Aid. I wanted them to hire somebody else, but as soon he was brought on, I've liked everything I have heard about him, and I am in. Plus, he can't be any worse than the last guy, right?
  10. White Sox: 9 (6 games left) Tigers: 5 (6 games left)
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 10:42 PM) As one of Peavy's biggest critics on here, if this was his last start with the Sox, I'm very happy that he went out on a positive note. Thanks for a stellar 2012. As the guy who started this thread, I will give him big props for this start, he brought it. He had a hell of a year, but unfortunately I will have a hard time forgetting his disappearance vs. Detroit this season. Good luck Jake.
  12. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 04:10 PM) Opening ceremonies and action streaming live at: http://www.rydercup.com/live/pga/player.html I'm going tomorrow (Friday), anybody else going to make it? USA! USA! USA! I wanted to, but the $300 cost per ticket prevented that from happening. I actually went to the Solheim Cup (women's version) when it was here a few years ago. Due to the team aspect, it's totally way better than your average golf tournament. There's way more cheering and excitement because everyone has picked a side.
  13. QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 03:21 PM) We've also dealt with the loss of John Danks, who would be immensely useful right about now We never really had John Danks all season. That shoulder injury was obviously bothering him all year, hence his 5+ ERA.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 03:08 PM) I give Kenny a ton of credit for not selling the farm before the deadline. He showed good discipline, especially if he knew he was not going to be the GM for much longer. No matter what happens the next week, at least no one can say "crap, the Sox didn't make the postseason even though they gave up all those awesome prospects/players". I thought they didn't have any awesome prospects/players?
  15. White Sox: 9 (7 games left) Tigers: 6 (6 games left) TB (Shields) @ CWS Peavy) 7:10
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 01:37 PM) The Rally Crede just got Fistered Rally Crede just Butlered Detroit
  17. Butler, Perez, Moustakas, Francoeur. Feel the power of the Rally Crede and may it lead you to victory!!!
  18. Someone just told KC that Cleveland was their next destination, and they decided, "The longer this game goes, the less time we spend in Ohio".
  19. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 01:28 PM) This could end up being under 2 hours. I'm not playing the "KC sucks/Help us" card, but do teams hate the Sox because of AJ and Hawk, and would love nothing more than to see us lose? I would guess that the hate for Jose Valverde's clown act may neutralize any hatred for AJ.
  20. QUOTE (iguchi=dank @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 01:18 PM) wow KC is just packing it in today, thanks for nothing. That game is going QUICK From what I saw, it seemed like they gave it their all the first 3 games, but just got straight up beat. Today they seem to be in getaway day mode with their bags packed ready to leave. Then again, they are going to Cleveland, it's just as bad as Detroit, but without Windsor across the water. Why would they want to leave so badly?
