  1. White Sox: 9 (8 games left) Tigers: 9 (8 games left) Wednesday Games: KC (Guthrie) @ DET (Porcello) 6:05 CLE (Masterson) @ CWS (Santiago) 7:10
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 07:37 PM) Anibal Sanchez >>> Francisco Liriano Might be enough to decide the division, although you could look at 20 other moves. Would pick up Sanchez in a heartbeat over Gavin Floyd, FWIW. Pending tonight's result, Detroit is 3-7 in 10 starts by Sanchez. Sox are 5-6 in Liriano's 11 starts.
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 06:41 PM) Even though I was hard on Greg, Chen has a career ERA of 7+ at "pitcher friendly" Tiger Stadium. However, if he pitches out of this inning and retires Fielder and gives up no runs with the bases loaded/no outs, it wouldn't be too shocking if the Royals came back to win, really. That could be a big change in momentum if the Royals can figure out Anibal, so far he seems to be cruising.
  4. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 06:23 PM) Hitting with RISP? What is that madness? They didn't hit a home run, but yet they got 2 runs on the scoreboard? Must be a mistake.
  5. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 05:23 PM) September crowds in 2005 were pretty weak too and we made the playoffs. 11 home games with under 30K. And we were on pace for 100+ wins. September 6-8, 2005 they had 3 straight crowds of between 14k-19k. 26k for the 2nd game of that huge Cleveland series. People seem to have this memory of outstanding crowds in 2005, but that was only the case in the playoffs, not in the regular season. The new ballpark & the WS title caused some bigger attendance seasons, but overall a packed Comiskey Park has never been a regular occurence.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 05:02 PM) Less than 14k at the game today....wow When you suddenly change a Tuesday night game to a day game with less than two weeks notice while school is in session, what do you expect?
  7. White Sox: 9 (8 games left) Tigers: 10 (9 games left) KC (Chen) @ DET (Sanchez) - 6:05 tonight
  8. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 03:44 PM) Thanks, Farmio, for saying "base hit, no wait, it's fielded" on that last play you f***ing asshole. This. I screamed "Go! Go!" thinking it was a hit.
  9. Quintana out after 4 pitchers, 2 outs. He should still be good to go on Friday?
  10. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 02:59 PM) He is playing hurt but we won't get an admission until after the season is over. Another poor at bat and he will be under .300 This isn't hockey Paulie. Stop playing hurt, you aren't helping the team.
  11. The Sox would not be in first if they had not traded for Youk, but man has he sucked for a while now.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 02:39 PM) Agreed, I'd bring in Nate Jones now #Vulture
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 02:23 PM) Too early to say "Go Royals!"? It's never too early!
  14. QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 02:11 PM) The best part is that Gordon f***ed this all up. Liriano couldn't finish the inning, but he got us the DP ball Was it really that bad of a play by Beckham?
  15. I was positive that the offense would wake up as soon as they got back to the Cell (and face CLE pitching). Other than Dunn, I'm still waiting for it.
  16. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 01:21 PM) Lillibridge is back. He tweeted yesterday calling out Sox fans for the weak attendance last night.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 01:19 PM) No score after half an inning. 21 pitches, 1 hit, 2K's and a WP. A Liriano-esque inning. I was about to post the exact same comment.
  18. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 01:02 PM) Tigers next five games, they face Chen, Guthrie, Mendoza, Diamond, and Walters. They should be able to lose 2 or 3 of those....hopefully. I still can't believe Walters shut them down Sunday night. That guy is bad at baseball.
  19. QUOTE (sunofgold @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 12:15 PM) Looks like now that Sale wouldn't be able to pitch game 163 if that happens. We better win in 162. Sale's last regular season penciled in to be on Sunday. I believe he could pitch game 1 of the playoffs (hope we make it) That aspect of it sucks, but if it's gonna make Sale & Peavy's final starts stronger, I will take it. They have seemingly done a good job with Sale & Peavy's rest all season, now is not the time for me to doubt them.
  20. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 12:07 PM) Prop betting this game. Can't decide on Liriano more first inning ks or Youkilis having more total bases than Cabrera. Personally I would be betting against Youkilis's offense.
  21. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 11:40 AM) For Game 163 that leaves Floyd, or Sale on short rest. Not sure I like that. I understand that a lefty is a better matchup with Cleveland tomorrow, but wow that makes it tough at the end. I don't know if it's just about the lefty matchup with Cleveland. They have obviously been watching Peavy & Sale all year. If that extra day of rest makes them way more likely to pitch better, then it's probably worth it.
  22. QUOTE (Reddy @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 09:27 AM) you guys are all crazy for throwing the OP under the bus. the nationals straight up shut down Strasburg for the season AND postseason. I don't think it's wild to suggest we do the same. Kill a kid's arm and risk the future of the team just because we "might" get to the 1st or second round of the playoffs? I dunno. I think it's at least worth discussing, not flaming the OP about. The Nationals are making a dumb decision and are letting Scott Boras run their team. There is no guarantee that Strasburg stays injury-free and they also could have rested him during the season to limit his innings. And how do you know your team will even make the playoffs again? The Tigers were such large favorites and look where they are at. Funny stuff happens in baseball, go for it while you have a chance.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 11:08 AM) Scot Gregor ‏@scotgregor Probables White Sox vs. Tampa Bay: Peavy vs. Shields Thurs; Quintana vs. Moore Fri; Floyd vs. Hellickson Sat; Sale vs. Price Sun. Santiago starts for White Sox vs. Indians Wednesday. Peavy pushed back to Thursday vs. Tampa Bay to get extra day of rest That should be a fun watch. (Although if Price was skipped, I wouldn't complain)
