Wow, after 210 consecutive starts, Eli is pretty much done in New York. I don't understand why they are starting the 27 year old journeyman who has proven to NOT be good instead of the 22 year old youngster, but whatever

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Nov 28, 2017 -> 01:48 PM) He's my rep as well. Gotta love gerrymandering. Slim chance he is voted out as I think he is part of the Madigan machine. Luis Gutierrez is the poster child for gerrymandering.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Nov 27, 2017 -> 08:01 PM) Iowa State extends Matt Campbell, 6 years, 22.5 million Good for the Cyclones because I love them but the only way he finishes that contract is if he disappoints. If they keep winning, he is so gone, but that's just the nature of college sports. -

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Nov 27, 2017 -> 10:13 AM) The talent they had this year was MAC level, and not high end MAC. The freshmen played because they were better than juniors and seniors, which is terrible. I also saw improvement from individuals but the team has a lot of work to do. But it’s hard to evaluate with so many freshmen playing. Next year should give us a better indication if this is going to work. If love can get us to 7 wins consistently then he was worth every penny. I think we are all seeing the true effect of Beckmann, scandal, Cubit. Speaking of MAC talent, remember when they snuck by Ball State in week 1? Ball State had 5 conference games where they gave up 50+ while scoring less than 20. That's lower end MAC level. -
QUOTE (Jack Parkman @ Nov 26, 2017 -> 08:56 PM) The last 2 weeks made me change my mind a bit. I was more hopeful after the GB/DET games, but this one made it come crashing down. Do I think he's going to be really good? No. Could I be wrong? Yes. The definition of "The jury is still out" It doesn't change the fact that the great ones make things happen the moment they take the field. Do they make rookie mistakes as rookies? Of course, but there is more good than bad. Not so for Trubisky. Go watch Wentz's first 3 starts and then go watch Trubisky's first 3. Night and day. I wish I could go back and watch the first 3 starts of QBs who were really solid for a long time. I'd bet you'd find things in common. Troy Aikman and Peyton Manning beg to differ

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Nov 26, 2017 -> 08:08 PM) My concern is there was very little improvement over the course of the season. In fact, in many areas they regressed. Yes, they're young. Yes, they were hit with a good amount of injuries. But that doesn't excuse the very questionable play calling, the constant mental mistakes/penalties, etc. There are definitely reasons to be concerned. I'm not convinced Lovie is the solution, but you might as well give him time. Its been The 2nd worst major college program for a while, what are your other options anyway. -

QUOTE (Sox Fan In Husker Land @ Nov 26, 2017 -> 08:48 PM) Thank you captain obvious, I fully realize that. I even noted it in my previous post. It is the main reason why I don't see Nebraska being elite ever again, or at the very least struggling mightily to get back there. Within a 250 mile radius from campus here is the population surrounding the 8 blue bloods. Alabama (Tuscaloosa) 22.7 million Michigan (Ann Arbor) 40.7 million Ohio St. (Columbus) 35.9 million Nebraska (Lincoln) 8.6 million Notre Dame (South Bend) 42.9 million Oklahoma (Norman) 15.6 million Texas (Austin) 23.8 million USC (Los Angeles) 28.2 million If Nebraska can never be elite again, then they probably aren't a Blue blood. And your whole coaching argument earlier pretty much proves that there really aren't any true blue bloods, because coaching is what matters. Look at Alabama before Saban. -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 26, 2017 -> 03:04 PM) This is basically the same feeling I got watching NE and Green Bay hang back to back 50 point games Yup. The first year with Fox they showed a competitiveness that was missing during the end of the Trestman era. Now it's gone and we are back to the same spot as 3 years ago. With 100x worse play calling. You can't develop a young QB if you don't let him throw the ball.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 26, 2017 -> 12:33 PM) Unlike most coaches 2 years in, Louie has only had one of his own recruiting classes in uniform. They played more true freshmen than any other school. If they jack Lovie if they suck next year, which they will, they will never be good. I think the bigger concern for Illinois would be if Lovie decides he doesn't need this. The Beckman hire was one of the worst of all time. I agree. Over at least the next two years it is way more likely that Lovie leaves on his own than he gets fired. The program was an absolute dumpster fire, Whitman came in as the new young AD and he bet all his chips in Lovie, he is not giving up that quickly. -

QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Nov 23, 2017 -> 03:26 PM) Last year, my wife's cousin came over and stuffed up one of my toilets. It overflowed, made a mess, and somehow I was left cleaning it up. Pretty gross. This year the cousin is not invited. For that, I am thankful. I first read that sentence as your wife. Happy Thanksgiving you crazy bastards!

QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Nov 20, 2017 -> 08:00 AM) Well yeah, he is for a lot of reasons, but I struggle to see why this game is such a bad idea? It's the same teams every year. The Flyers aren't even good anymore. You just had Nashville in the Final, the buzz down there is huge, why don't you let them play in an outdoor game? -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 19, 2017 -> 03:35 PM) I’m still laughing at how terrible that kick was. And he did that body twist like “it’s gonna hook and come back” LMAO I was certain that it was blocked. I thought there was no way he could.kick it that bad without someone getting a hand on it. I was wrong.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 15, 2017 -> 12:46 PM) If they haven't decided by then, which to me is very unlikely, the attendance at the Bears/Cleveland game at Soldier Field on Christmas Eve will convince the McCaskeys change is needed. 50,490 today with a lot of Lions fans. Those two December games are gonna be ghost towns.

QUOTE (Lillian @ Nov 19, 2017 -> 11:42 AM) What Mark Buehrle did, or did not do, to strengthen his core and lower body, does not diminish the value of such training. I think you would agree with that, wouldn't you? Kopech appears to take his training very seriously, and he should reap big benefits from it. I agree that it's valuable. I just don't think you can question ones dedication simply by how swole they are.
-
QUOTE (Lillian @ Nov 19, 2017 -> 08:36 AM) I'll bet the guy, whom the Sox traded for Kopech, never trained like that. What was his name again? Oh yes; Chris Sale. I love to see an athlete take his health and fitness seriously. With all of the money at stake, you have to wonder why they don't all dedicate themselves, as Kopech appears to be doing. If only that bum Mark Buehrle worked out in the off-season, he could have been something. Different strokes for different folks. Just because Chris Sale is skinny doesn't mean he's not dedicated. The hate is strong.
