  1. hopefully this Walters fellow isn't starting games against Detroit the last two weeks of the season
  2. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 01:01 PM) What if I told you I was for them, before I was against them? Have your wife speak about it, that's the way to the voters' hearts.
  3. Revere cf Escobar 2b Mauer dh Morneau 1b Doumit c Parmelee rf Plouffe 3b Carson lf Florimon ss No Josh Willingham, but then again he is 0-15 in his career vs. Peavy
  4. Didn't the Melky Cabrera positive test results stay quiet until MLB made them official?
  5. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 11:30 AM) That would suck and ruin what was a really fun season. I don't think it would ruin it, the Sox could still hold off Detroit without AJ.
  6. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 11:06 AM) If the Sox don't make the playoffs the offensive downgrade from Quentin to Viciedo will be at the top of the reasons why list. If the Sox were still paying Quentin, could they afford to add Youk, Liriano, & Myers?
  7. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 11:17 AM) I hope Mark Gonzales or somebody picks up on this, and flat-out asks him today if it's true he failed a test and it's being appealed. If he asked, I guarantee AJP would say no. Why let that news out publicly until the last moment possible?
  8. I doubt anybody would be shocked it if was true, considering that he is destroying his career-best power numbers at age 35. If true, hopefully the appeals process lasts until the end of the month, so he can keep playing during the pennant race.
  9. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 10:23 AM) I think they call it sportsmanship. But, that really is lacking in MLB as it's all about winning. I feel strongly both ways about it This is a professional sports league, not coed kickball. If Cabrera is too injured to field his position, then the Tigers shouldn't let him play the field. Sox absolutely should go after him, it's on him to foil the Sox plan.
  10. D-Weezy Youk Dunn dh PK14 Rios AJP Tank Alexei Beckham
  11. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 09:42 AM) I still think they have something to say like team confidence. Aces win 20 games and they even do it on bad teams. Wins can separate an ace from a good pitcher. Peavy is not an ace. Are you saying that Felix Hernandez is not an ace? His records the last two seasons were 13-12 & 14-14. He has only won more than 14 games once.
  12. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 4, 2012 -> 07:01 PM) He needed and needs to step up in big games. 1-3 vs. Tigers. Way too much hype over Peavy the competitor. Still I would like to know how many of his games the pen has blown. Shouldn't he be like 14-9 if it weren't for the pen? I don't think it's been the bullpen costing him wins, as much as it has been a lack of run support.
  13. Any updates on Gavin? I know he is everyone's favorite whipping boy, but with Q's struggles, the Sox could use all the help they could get in the rotation. Any chance he pitches again this season?
  14. Looks like there should be a window to play today, although the conditions will be wet. They both have tomorrow off, which makes me wonder why today is a day game? If 15k showed up last night, we could be closer to 10k today.
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 4, 2012 -> 09:27 PM) It's pretty unacceptable for a team in a pennant race that had a horrible road trip to come home and get boatraced by the worst team in the American League. At least the fans didn't pay to support this crap tonight. I'd rather they lose like this than a close, gut-wrenching 3-2 blown save loss. I could stop watching baseball much earlier and do something else. They all count the same in the stadings anyway.
  16. After games on September 4th: White Sox: 27 (27 games left) WED: MIN (Walters) @ CWS (Peavy) 1:10 PM Tigers: 29 (27 games left) WED: CLE (Jimenez) @ DET (Fister) 6:05 PM
  17. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 4, 2012 -> 09:17 PM) That would be something wouldn't it? This game's not official yet. They just announced a severe thunderstorm watch. Should have left Humber in there until the rains came.
  18. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Sep 4, 2012 -> 09:14 PM) whos pitching the last game? Cy Guthrie of course.
  19. QUOTE (RudyLawRules @ Sep 4, 2012 -> 09:10 PM) Whose fans are pulling more hair out? We're getting our a$$es handed to us by the Twinkees while the Tigers have lost two 1 run games in a row to the hapless Tribe. Yikes. At least the Sox won yesterday and once in Baltimore. The Tigers have lost 5 straight games to the Royals & Indians.
  20. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 4, 2012 -> 08:46 PM) Cabrera up for the Tigers in the 8th. Nobody on, two out. Please don't give him anything to hit. Vinnie Pestano is a stud
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 4, 2012 -> 07:32 PM) This is getting to be like Big 10 basketball, win at home, lose on the road against the good teams and hope to play .500 or above against the weaker teams on the road. With the same amount of scoring.
  22. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 4, 2012 -> 07:29 PM) Meanwhile, Balt threatens to tie up the Yankees. Who do you give Manager of the Year to....Showalter, Melvin or Ventura? Melvin, probably, by a neck. Gotta be Showalter IMO, with that run differential.
  23. Tank's OPS vs. LHP: .936 Tank's OPS vs. RHP: .639
