  1. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 31, 2012 -> 01:07 PM) Most important series of the year so far. F*** Detroit and the horse they rode in on. Go Sox. Most important series since 2008?
  2. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 31, 2012 -> 11:40 AM) Yet still led the team in TD receptions. He was never a pass dropper in college so maybe it was a few isolated ones that we just noticed? LOL, and I'm sure someone led the Browns & Jaguars in TD receptions last year too. I don't have the stats in front of me, but I know he was way too high on the list of league leaders in drops, for how little he was on the field relatively.
  3. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 31, 2012 -> 10:35 AM) So how bout my man Sanzenbacher? Hope he makes it and get a shot to at least show he can play WR at this level. Last year he showed that he was very good at dropping the ball, so hopefully he worked on that.
  4. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 31, 2012 -> 09:40 AM) Friday night is on MLB-Network Saturday night is on WGN (both games at 5 PM MDT) Sunday night is ESPN2 Sunday Night National Broadcast at 6 PM. Still looking forward to that Sale and Verlander match up Interesting that NASCAR wins the ESPN slot over baseball
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 31, 2012 -> 09:46 AM) They still have no pitching. They do have some pitching, but they have all undergone Tommy John surgery in the past 6 months.
  6. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 31, 2012 -> 08:54 AM) Did he sack the QB? ESPN doesnt have defensive statistics up Sportsline says he did have 1 sack. No word on the birthday wishes.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 31, 2012 -> 09:03 AM) Shutting a guy down for >1 month and then restarting him doesn't seem like a very easy thing on the arm either. Yeah, at this point it's two late in the game to really rest him. They should have thought about back in May or June or July. It's not like they struggled all season, then got hot late in the year to make the playoffs. They have been atop the East forever.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 31, 2012 -> 07:45 AM) By the way, the Nats have made it official, Stras has 2-3 more starts before being shut down for the year. I'm gonna be rooting against the Nationals so badly in the playoffs for letting Scott Boras run their team.
  9. Go Royals! (Look, someone on Soxtalk actually admitted they were wrong, props Greg!)
  10. In his second start back from the DL yesterday, Marcum left the game after 4 innings with right calf cramping.
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 11:58 PM) It's funny. If you read about the 60s and 70s, you'll see that players never got off for paternity leave and normally didn't get off for deaths in the family. They would get off for the funeral and that's it. Not bereavement time. How times have changed. But I bet there were a lot of angry relatives back in the day when husbands simply could not leave their baseball jobs to be with their wives and see their young-uns born. I don't know who put up a stink first and when this became common place, but it'd be an interesting story if some publication wrote it. I'm sure it's directly related to the increased strength of the players union. The past 10 years or so, players would take off a day or two and the team would be screwed out of a roster spot. So they figured they might as well allow for paternity leave so a team can call up another man.
  12. Jadeveon Clowny‏@JadeveonClowny Since its Vanderbilt's QB's birthday if this gets 500 retweets I'll tell him happy birthday after I sack him.
  13. QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 04:33 PM) Ha, that is hilarious
  14. This Brewers bullpen has to be among the worst of all time. I think they could have competed for the wild card if they didn't blow so many games in the 8th & 9th, their offense barely missed a beat without Prince. Axford was lights out last year, K-Rod was one of the best closers of the past decade, weird.
  15. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 06:06 PM) If I were him, I would name my daughters, Lilly, Petunia, Rose, Violet, Daisy, Laurel, or Chrysanthemum. May Flowers Congrats Tyler!
  16. QUOTE (Real @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 02:57 PM) dunno if I'm the only one here but I have never believed in "regressing to the mean" in baseball. if you have a great season above what your career averages are, it doesn't mean you are due to slump down to your average numbers. and if you do slump, it isn't because some magical statistic fairy sprinkled you with pixie dust causing it to happen. I'm not saying that his final season line will end up like his average career season. He obviously has produced enough to have a career year. But odds were that he wasn't gonna keep it up all year, and that's what may be happening now. (Or he could be tired or he just could be so excited for Tyler and his baby). Just like Konerko wasn't gonna bat .399 all year, he has dipped way back down closer to what you would expect from him. It's just kind of the law of averages from a long 162 game season.
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 02:14 PM) Hope it doesn't come out later that he was concerned about his future and next contract negotiation looming in the offseason...as the reason why he's struggling now so much late in the season. Would rather believe it's because Ventura pushed him too hard in the first 3-4 months and didn't give him enough time off. Or he could just be regressing to the mean offensively. Even with this slump he is at a .861 OPS on the year at age 35. His next two highest full seasons were .824 & .773. He was probably due for a cold stretch at some point.
  18. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 01:33 PM) AJ and Paulie must have 5pm dinner reservations in Detroit. I think they have a table reserved at Cheetahs in Windsor
  19. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 01:29 PM) Have a game, AJ Gimenez in the game now
  20. QUOTE (Caesar @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 01:20 PM) Guthrie is a bum though. He isn't facing us tonight So is Bruce Chen
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 12:36 PM) 8-2 OAK over the Indians. Oakland is actually getting within shouting distance of the Rangers for 1st place in the AL West. Cleveland has the 2nd worst run differential in all of baseball. We knew they weren't for real, but never thought they were this bad.
