  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 12:27 PM) I know, but he's got a pretty good shot at making Reynolds look like a contact hitter when its all over this year. 34 away from Reynolds' record
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 12:22 PM) In 1970, Bobby Bonds fanned 189 times. That remained a MLB record for 34 years. Adam Dunn is now at 188. Adam's not even the worst strikeout artist in this game today.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 11:50 AM) The guy in front of him has 87 RBI. Stop knocking in all my runs Adam, you are ruining my stats this season! Never forget! - PK14
  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 10:32 AM) Once again its not an OSU, Iowa or LSU "guy". Its a tshirt company and they've been notified legally by several schools so far. Are they in kahoots with the Horry Kow "guy?
  5. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 10:00 AM) So Soxtalk was launched on a day when the Sox were 7 games under .500 and 16 games out of 1st? That explains a lot. And the mandatory pessimism in game threads was born. Congrats to Soxtalk & thanks to the mods/admins for all the work they do to keep it running!
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 09:44 AM) Not Phegley, Gimenez from the sounds of it. Yup. Gonzales tweeted that Gimenez is listed on today's lineup card as a reserve.

  9. Orioles fans make Sox fans look great. Average attendance the last 3 nights was 12,298 for a team that is in a playoff spot right now for the first time in years. I can't imagine there is more than 10k today for a day game.
  10. Gotta love the roller coaster of the last 36 hours. At about 7:15 Tuesday, the Sox were on their way to losing, Verlander was up 3-0, and it looked like the lead was down to 1 with an ice-cold offense & Detroit feasting on lowly KC. Then Verlander gets crushed, Cy Chen happens, and Joe Saunders returns to the AL, and suddenly the Sox are up 3 games and everything is rainbows & gumdrops.
  11. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 06:37 AM) It wasnt considered, it was done. Span nixed it Was that ever 100% confirmed? I thought some sources reported Span said no, some sources said the Reds backed off.
  12. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Aug 29, 2012 -> 09:21 PM) They are saying Flowers paternity leave tomorrow. What a selfish bastard. 9 months ago he should have realized he would be needed in the middle of a pennant race, should have wrapped it up.
  13. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 29, 2012 -> 09:47 PM) So what does greg think about the Tigers losing to KC. I thought it was an impossible feat This season, KC has won series against Oakland, Tampa, Baltimore, Texas, and Detroit. Just sayin'
  14. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Aug 29, 2012 -> 10:21 PM) 9 er in 3 innings. Hahahahaha. What was Boston thinking? They even paid most of Youk's salary.
  15. The NFL is doing a good job of keeping the replacement refs thing from being a big deal, it could play a huge part in Week 1, yet it's pretty damn quiet.
  16. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Aug 29, 2012 -> 04:34 PM) At least the OSU guy corrected the "then" to "than" from the LSU guy.

  19. QUOTE (danman31 @ Aug 29, 2012 -> 01:41 PM) Define compete. I don't see that much of a difference from the schedule they played last year. I don't see why they can't post a .500 record in the league this year. I don't know, and I don't really care all that much to be honest. I just like talking smack about Mizzou.
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 29, 2012 -> 02:58 PM) Twins are averaging over 35k a game. Dumping Mauer for no return WILL NOT HAPPEN. They are in the 3rd season of a beautiful new ballpark, with two straight 90+ loss seasons, so that attendance will definitely drop. That being said, I do agree that they won't dump him for no return. The #1 draft pick hometown boy? Doubtful, and he's still producing, just not at his MVP level. They probably need to move the RF fence in though.
  21. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 29, 2012 -> 09:29 AM) Why not? At this point, knowledge of the game is easy to obtain. Everyone here at the board, is there ANYTHING an announcer could tell you we don't already know about the game of baseball? I'll take the kitsch. Absolutely. With a good announcer you can learn something new or insightful daily.
  22. Damaged goods and he absolutely choked in the playoffs last year for Milwaukee.
