  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 28, 2012 -> 02:50 PM) Laurence Holmes ‎#Whitesox offering $7 upper deck tix/$17 lower deck for next homestand including #tigers. whitesox.com/soxsave #nomoreexcuses Considering how many Tigers fans there are around, tf there are a lot of empty seats for the Tigers series, then the problem lies deeper than just the Sox fanbase.
  2. QUOTE (balfanman @ Aug 29, 2012 -> 07:21 AM) I'm in for an 8 game winning streak starting tonight, anyone else? I'll take a 5 game winning streak at this point, which means a sweep in Gary, I mean Detroit.
  3. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Aug 28, 2012 -> 10:08 PM) On a neutral field, Georgia's probably what, a 10-13 point favorite? I don't think Mizzou home field is worth nearly that much. They still think they have a chance to compete in the SEC. Just sit back, relax, and enjoy as the destruction unfolds.
  4. ***Awaits greg775's post proclaiming that the "Tigers will never win the division if Verlander can't beat the scrub Royals"***
  5. The NewsRoom episode about Bin Laden was pretty damn cool
  6. Price, Sale, & Verlander all got rocked in the past 26 houts.
  7. QUOTE (My_Sox_Summer @ Aug 28, 2012 -> 07:21 PM) If you hate Hawk, you aren't a die hard fan IMO. Not that it's wrong, just my view. But yes, having people go from one extreme to another (even within a fan base) means you are doing something right IMO. That means people have an opinion on what you do and you aren't some vanilla soft serve up there just. I love Hawk. He IS White Sox baseball. I don't agree with him 100% of the time, but that is why I like him. Makes ya think. I don't hate Hawk the person. I hate Hawk's broadcasts as they increasingly get worse year to year.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 28, 2012 -> 08:44 PM) After tonight, Andy Dirks has a higher OPS than Paul Konerko. Strange, strange season I'm still amazed that AJ has the highest OPS of all catchers in the division. Higher than Mauer, Santana, Avila. Who would have predicted that in March?
  9. QUOTE (Baron @ Aug 28, 2012 -> 07:07 PM) Overreaction central...in full force LOL, the standard SoxTalk game thread. Soon the "Detroit will win every game vs. KC, while the Sox will get swept twice by KC" crowd will bless us with their presence.
  10. QUOTE (Caesar @ Aug 28, 2012 -> 06:48 PM) Sale with 48 pitches in 2 innings. We are in trouble. Don't really want to tax the bullpen before an Axelrod start and no off days before the big series in Detroit.
  11. QUOTE (Caesar @ Aug 28, 2012 -> 06:25 PM) Yeah. I didn't think there would be that much juice on the road like that. I wouldve played it but i cant knowing the Sox struggle against these guys in Baltimore. Especially the bullpen for some reason, like Myers last night. The Orioles owned Bobby Jenks more than any other team.
  12. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 28, 2012 -> 06:22 PM) Finally a relatively stress-free 1st inning! Thankfully we avoided Lew Ford with runners on
  13. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 28, 2012 -> 05:56 PM) I'll bet they both would have been claimed. I definitely agree about Rios. For 2 yrs/$25 million, if he plays anything like this year or 2010, that's not a bad deal. I'm not as certain about Dunn, but all it takes is one.
  14. QUOTE (My_Sox_Summer @ Aug 28, 2012 -> 08:56 AM) There are two ways to be a homer, Vin Scully's way and Hawk's way. Hawk being so hated means he's doing something right. Having many memebers of your own team's fanbase hate you is "doing something right"? That's an interesting way to look at it.
  15. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Aug 28, 2012 -> 04:30 PM) Hawk's harmless, but annoying. He's all schtick. His catchphrases get old. He repeats the same stories. He doesn't have a whole lot of original insight anymore. He's starting to get a little senile/blind. The "stretch" on routine fly balls is a joke. Most importantly, he tends to speak in absolutes too much. Everything is the best or worst thing ever. He's tempered it with the "he might not be the best ever, but there's none better" line, but it's still grating. I really don't have the same feeling of sentimentality as most of you. I agree with almost everything in this post. (I still enjoy the "stretch"). The absolutes have gotten ridiculous. Every player has some talent that makes him the best in the AL, every game. His senility with umpires has gotten so bad as well. It sucks when umpires are doing a s***ty job, and it's worth mentioning, but Hawk just goes on & on & on about it, even if the Sox take the lead despite the calls. Get over it and get back to the game. I grew up on Hawk and I'll always remember listening to him. But I think his broadcasting skills are diminishing with age, and i think it's time for a change,
  16. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Aug 28, 2012 -> 02:55 PM) If I was the Twins GM, I would've let him go. He's only got one more year left on his deal and he's got 17 HRs. I wouldn't give him up for free.
  17. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 28, 2012 -> 11:11 AM) They do have some wierd fascination with the Yankees for sure They are one of the most famous and popular sports teams in the entire world. It's not a weird fascination, it's business.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 28, 2012 -> 10:37 AM) All I'm saying is that $10 million in bonus money in a QB on the bench doesn't destroy your roster. It takes a lot more than $10 million in dead space to kill a roster. Is Flynn's $10 million all this season? It doesn't destroy the roster, but it doesn't help. It's just an interesting move to sign the top non-Manning FA quarterback out there, then immediately draft another in the 3rd round and give him the job in the preseason. ( No idea about your question re: Flynn's contract.)
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 28, 2012 -> 09:40 AM) Buster Olney ‏@Buster_ESPN One GM said there are basically two pricey and relatively healthy Ps who might be available for little return: Buehrle, Matsuzaka, 3 years, $48 million isn't little return for Buehrle.
  20. No f***ing way, we don't need an arm that bad. Our middle relief isn't the best anyway, a Dice-K start requires at least 4 innings of bullpen help. Much rather let Santiago/Humber/Axelrod that Dice-K.
  21. He's more of an all-time "legend" as opposed to an all-time "great".
