  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 26, 2012 -> 02:12 PM) It's going to be humbling to have them beat us head to head and take the division. Our only hope is if our starting pitching man's up and dominates (we have good starting pitching, not dominant aside from Sale) their lineup and Dunn, Paulie and Youk and AJ decide they want to win a WS this year and kick major ass vs. the Tabbies (and Royals). KC by the way is about to lose 2 of 3 for its second straight series since kicking our ass. They are winning 4-2? (And playing a 4-game series)
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 26, 2012 -> 01:26 PM) While I agree this trade looks insane from a Dodger perspective, as a fan, would you rather see the players get tbe money or the owners pocket it? I'd rather see the money spent on players who will play at or above the value of their contract. The question is do the owners have the money? They did just spend $2 billion to buy the team.
  3. The Dodgers have four players under contract thru 2017 at a total of $81.5 million. I think Crawford will be much better in LA than he was in BOS, but at that money? Wow.
  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 26, 2012 -> 01:56 AM) Grace might have to do some time. I realize it's not what you know, it's who you know, but some states are getting tough on multiple DUI offenders. At the very least he'll have his license taken away automatically and if he's caught driving again he'll be going to jail. I believe that in Arizona, even a single DUI sends you to jail for a few days. Even Barkley served a couple days when he got busted.
  5. Let's think about 2013. Before every home game, the Sox will be announced as 'Your World Series Champion Chicago White Sox!!!"
  6. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 24, 2012 -> 02:11 PM) I'll shoot you a pm later. This is not the time or place to divulge that. I'll just say that I respect the hell out of Jason and I think that section of the board is anaconda s*** and should be destroyed. He wasn't referring to the Filibuster...
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 24, 2012 -> 01:31 PM) Really, I know that in Boston you can't do something like a KW style partial rebuild, but man, with how that team has gone the last 2 years, the managerial mess, Gonzalez being right in all of that, and having a down season this year/never having his SD power numbers carry over, I'd probably let him walk if I were in their shoes and didn't have to worry about selling tickets. Getting nothing back in return, not even prospects, would be a tough sell on that fanbase, especially now. If these shenanigans keep up, the sellout streak might end soon.
  8. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Aug 24, 2012 -> 12:51 PM) I will also be at the game tonight. Pretty excited about the "beach bash" theme for tonight. Beach Bash? Sweet! I will be there too.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 23, 2012 -> 10:28 AM) Dude's got 6 years and $21 million per year remaining on that contract. I dunno, if someone claimed Gonzalez, I'd think long and hard about letting him walk. Especially since Boston is already fighting the luxury tax. Guess who was awarded the AGon waiver claim? The newly rich Dodgers, of course.
  10. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Aug 24, 2012 -> 12:10 PM) The odds would be in his favor quite a bit if Vargas is pitching his 15th inning of the evening. Touche.
  11. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Aug 24, 2012 -> 11:52 AM) Quite possibly the most irrelevant stat ever posted. You never know, just in case we go extra, extra innings and maybe Myers has to bat? It's good to know that the odds would be in our favor.
  12. Career numbers vs. Vargas: Beckham: 5/11, 1 2B, 1 HR, 1.318 OPS Dunn: 1/3, 1.000 OPS Flowers: 1/4, 1 HR, 1.667 OPS Konerko: 6/11, 2 2B, 1 HR, 1.615 OPS Myers: 1/1, 2.000 OPS AJP: 0/6, 0.000 OPS Alexei: 5/13, 1 HR, 1.000 OPS Rios: 2/11, .432 OPS Tank: 3/4, 1 HR, 2.300 OPS Wise: 1/3, .667 OPS Youk: 3/5, 1 2b, 1.467 OPS
  13. QUOTE (G&T @ Aug 24, 2012 -> 11:03 AM) GOP convention? Not being held at the Trop, but that's the only explanation. Yup, that's exactly why. They moved the series up a day, so they can get the heck out of Dodge before the convention. There is also a kickoff party at the Trop Sunday night.
  14. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 24, 2012 -> 08:58 AM) @redeyechicago 19 people shot in Chicago last night in an 8-hour span: Chicagooooo Chicagooooo my kinda town. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 24, 2012 -> 09:13 AM) Make it 10 that were shot in New York. Once again, Chicago wins. The guy in New York was a disgruntled employee.
  15. Just finished the 4th episode of Newsroom. Entertaining, although I lose some interest during all the political ranting on the newscasts.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 23, 2012 -> 08:20 PM) Hell, if it wasn't for 1 bad start (the tired arm day) wouldn't Sales ERA be about 0.4 runs lower? Take away Jered Weaver's next to last start and his ERA would be 0.5 lower. That's probably the case for everyone except for Verlander.
  17. QUOTE (SouthSidePride05 @ Aug 23, 2012 -> 06:59 PM) I have a feeling we're gonna be seeing a lot of these articles blasting Sox fans for not showing up in the upcoming weeks. And even into the playoffs. I hate hearing from players like Peavy that they're disappointed in the turnouts. Oh well.. It's just gonna get worse folks. Here's a screen shot of ticketmaster's seat chart for the next Sox vs Tigers game at the Cell, which should be sold out already, but as you can see there are a ton of available seats. Don't worry, that game will be near a sellout. You know how many Tigers fans are in the Chicago area?
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 23, 2012 -> 12:46 PM) A great line by line retort of the article the other day blasting Sox fans on attendance http://www.southsideasylum.com/2012/08/thi...ead-enough.html I read that earlier, very well done.
  19. Khalil Bell = He Gone Bears asked him to take a paycut from $1.26 mil to $700k, he said no. If he fixes that fumbling problem, he looked like he could be a servicable NFL back.
